Philips ProntoPro Next Generation Remote Control

Strengths: Flexibility and programmability. Rechargeable, IR/RF selectable, intuitive design.

Weakness: Hard to change icon images without another program.

Of all programmable remotes I have used, this is by far the most workable solution to my complex system. The control in conjunction with the RF extender works flawlessly and seamless. Philips ProntoPro Next Generation Remote Control

Strengths: Extra hard buttons, super bright display

Weakness: Time lag between button press and IR transmission, occasional freeze-ups

I'd been using the original Pronto TS1000 for about 5 years and upgraded to the TSU7000. Philips ProntoPro Next Generation Remote Control

Strengths: Seemingly INFINITE configurability; flawless learning; very strong IR; amazing TFT color display, sharp!

Weakness: Backlighting of hard buttons-3 seconds, not activated by touchscreen OR hard buttons - must press "light" button

The TSU7000 is totally improved, in all the characteristics. It's perfectly visible on the dark, perfectly usable (no errors at all, touching the TFT), allows the owner to produce spectacular high resolution layouts. Its cost is an issue, but it is possible to find street prices far away from 1000$, making it an incredible bargain.
