Best Bluetooth for noisy environments

Strengths: Great sound Good volume, often have to turn it down Excellent build quality, doesn't feel cheap Long talk time Very comfortable Fantastic value

Weakness: If any maybe wind noise, although foam wind socks are provided

I recently just purchased a LG 325 bluetooth phone for use on the Sprint network. Originally I picked up a Sony HBH-600 because that was the only headset that they had in the sprint store. I drive a Jeep Wrangler and regardless of what top I have on the Jeep, soft or hard, there is a significant amount of road noise present at pretty much any speed. It didn't take long for me to realize that the HBH-600 was not going to work. Callers complained that they couldn't hear anything I said and when I turned the volume up to a level that I could somewhat hear, they complained that they then heard echos. So began my search for a good bluetooth headset that would work in the Jeep. I purchased a Jabra BT800 and was not satisfied with it at all. Cheap build quality and inferior sound led me to keep looking. From my research I narrowed my choices to the Plantronics Voyager 510 and the Sony HBH-300. No where around me carried either of these headsets so I had to order them on line. I found the Plantronics for $38 and the Sony for $70. Both have excellent build quality, they feel like they would not break if were to drop them. Callers have reported that both provide excellent call quality. I have though, decided to go with the Plantronics Voyager 510 for the following reasons.
The Plantronics feels extremely comfortable in your ear. At times I forgot that I was even using it. In the package you are provided with three different sized speakers that easily attach to the headset. At first I didn't think I would like this headset because I find that stereo earbuds that are inserted into the ear canal to be uncomfortable. The plantronics, however, do not insert into the ear canal, like some jabra headsets, but instead sit comfortably in the ear. Because of this it also provides better volume, I actually had to turn the headset's volume down while driving because it was to loud (and this is in a Jeep!!!) Callers rated both headsets equal in quality on there end, with maybe a small nod to the plantronics headset, a few callers said they could hear that pesky echo again with the sony. The plantronics headset is also much easier to cary on your person, the boom swivels up and the earpiece rotates to make a nice, small, flat package that can easily be placed in a case on your belt, the sony, however, has a non-collapsable boom and because of this is quite large. In the end the excellent build quality, voice quality, sound isolation, and value (only $38), made this the headset for me. Highly recommended.

Thanks for your thoughts on the 510. Where did you get it for $38?

Works for my purposes

Strengths: - Easy to connect to Mac and Moto Razr3 - Good sound quality, both listening and speaking, mic provides better directional input - Comfortable

Weakness: - Gets choppy when > 10' from laptop - Buttons are not intuitive and very hard to navigate while wearing - Looks like a hearing aid

After trying both high-end Moto and Jabra models, I decided to go with this one. People couldn;t hear me on the Moto, even when i turned the input level to max. I couldn't even get the Jabra to pair up with my Mac. The 510 worked right out of the box just as advertised. Works great with my cell phone, Skype for Mac, iChat, etc. Definitely recommend this.

So far so good

Strengths: Sound quality and clarity. It feels stable on/in my ear.

Weakness: The voice dial doesnt work with my Motorola E815. I had to get ANOTHER charger.

I have tried several different bluetooth headsets (Motorola H500, H700, HS850, and Jabra BT350). So far the Plantronics 510 has the best sound. The HS850 has also worked good as far as the clarity but my husband prefers the volume of the Plantronics 510. On the cheaper priced headsets the Jabra BT350 was ok, its a little fuzzy when you talk to someone but for the price its great. Still, my favorite has been the Plantronics 510. Nobody even knows I'm on a bluetooth headset it is so clear. We will definitely buy more.

GREAT headset despite my 4 star rating

Strengths: Sound clarity, voice clarity, comfort, battery life

Weakness: BUTTONS, BUTTONS, BUTTONS!

Decided on this headset after mulling through pricegrabber.com and picking the highest rated one under $50. After reading the reviews and then using it, the reviewers were dead-on: This headset works great (sound quality), has good range in my small house (almost 30' through walls), is convenient to wear and charge w/ good battery life BUT, the power button it difficult to push. I cannot push it with only one hand and I consider myself dexterous, if that's a word. That wouldn't be such a big deal it I hadn't figured out that you can power on the headset AND answer the phone all in one fell swoop IFF you can get the power button pushed in properly. (I've done this when the phone was in my trunk and in my front pocket while driving.) The volume buttons are not as difficult, but still annoying and the hang-up/answer button is OK. to use once you get the hang of where it is. Comfort for hours on end is not an issue and the headset comes w/ 3 ear adapters that do NOT go into your ear canal.

I would buy this headset again, annoying butons and all. The half boom is sensitive enough for me to voice dial in a quiet voice in the store and does a good job of keeping wind noise down.

This headset will not work with a TRENDnet TBW-102UB bluetooth dongle on a mac. Confirmed by TRENDnet.

Have had this earset for over a year now and I still love it and wouldn't change it's rating. The protective cover for the mic fell off after about 1 year of moderate abuse (it spent a lot of time in my pocket), but I glued it back on with some rubberized superglue (R/C hobby shop) and all is well once more. Nothing has changed with this product and I would not hesitate to replace it with exactly the same thing if this one were to die tomorrow. The buttons are slightly less annoying after having 'broken in,' but don't work easy enough to warrant a 5* rating. But like I said, I'd buy one in a heartbeat if this one died.

My first Bluetooth headset...errr... second, is a...

Strengths: talk and standby time, light weight, very comfortable to wear, ease of use

Weakness: sometimes light "crackling" or "popping" interference noises but am told small amount is expected due to Bluetooth being a radio 2.4ghz standard(didn't know that!).

This is my first Bluetooth headset. Chose after seeing over 45 reviews(about the single most for any headset under $60) here on pricegrabber, with overwhelming amount being very positive. The first unit I received failed to transfer calls to headset(whether incoming or dialing out)often. After a prompt return and exchange for another unit from good 'ol Newegg, I'm happy to report all is well.

This model is lightweight, economically priced, paired flawlessly w/my cellphone(Samsung "Alias") comfortable to wear (especially given the 3 included mutli-sized ear pieces for customization to ear canal size),long talk & standby time for its price level, overall call clarity, and volume level loud enough to hear calls while driving w/windows down. People on the other end of the call remark I sound loud and clear, with some even saying I don't sound like I'm on a headset.

You can't beat this model for it's price and features. I see other headsets costing a good deal more and not worth the extra $$$!

Lastly I will warn first-time bluetooth users that since it is a standard that works on the 2.4ghz frequency, don't be surprised if some calls are not crytal clear(just on your end)and expect some interference/crackling when near certain other drvice competing for that frequency and/or many electronic devices in a certain very local area you're sitting, etc. I'm told this is typical of ALL bluetooth headsets no matter the price level. Overall call clarity is very good just don't expect same level of clarity as you would actually talking directly on the phone itself.

Great Bluetooth Headset

Strengths: Volume is loud and clear both ways, light weight and comfortable.

Weakness: On-Off button can be tricky

Great Bluetooth headset for the money. Its my first bluetooth headset and my most concern was the volume.
With this headset everyone comes in loud and clear. I use it in
car and around the office.

Brilliant!

Strengths: Comfortable. Good battery life. Crystal clear sound (both ways).

Weakness: Doesn't fold up well to fit in a pocket, but none of these things do!

This little guy is just amazing. This is my first Bluetooth headset- and the first headset of any kind I've ever regularly used with my phone (I never could stand those corded ones). I bought it primarily for when I'm in the car, but now I find myself using it all the time, and finding out how many wonderful times it comes in handy. Talking to a friend who wanted someone's number, I was able to go through my phone address book while still talking to him. And being able to roam around the house, or use the computer without getting a neck cramp is priceless. As for this specific model- it works very well, and as advertised. Battery life has been just great, as is reception. It's small and light enough that I soon forget I have it on, and can keep it on pretty much all day. My only complaint is that it doesn't fold up all that well to go in a pocket, etc. But I guess if it did, then it probably wouldn't be very comfortable to wear, so I can't really fault it for that. I don't think I will ever have a phone again without one of these guys nearby.

Voyager 510 - works well

Strengths: Easy to pair, comfortable, comes with three ear piece options, charges quickly, sound quality is good.

Weakness: On/off button is much too hard to press. Could not get to work with PowerBook on first try.

Based on Laptop Magazine review, picked up this unit (my first ever Bluetooth headset.) It is comfortable, and the sound quality is high. I do wish they would would have designed the on/off control as a slide switch, having to hold down the very small button for three seconds is a pain. Overall though I am very pleased.

BEST HEADSET EVER

Strengths: sound quality, great for noisy environments.

Weakness: the on button

Very comfortable, comes with many different size pads to make it go into your ear comfortably, but will even work good if you don't want to use the ear plug. I've gone through the HS820, HS850, BT800, iogear bt headset and this one beats all the others by a mile.

Really good set for the price

Strengths: I've been using this since a week and am completely satisfied with the voice quality, weight on the ear, comfort level during extended wear, etc.

Weakness: The controls especially the power button does get a bit tedious at times since there's no way to comfortably adjust the volume etc while wearing the set.

I've had a few head-sets before I purchased the Voyager 510 and must say that I'm completely satisfied. Even for the minor glitches (which could be much worse in comparable sets) this is a great product for the price. Buy it and you'll not regret the decision.

A great bluetooth headset

Strengths: Very lightweight and unobtrusive. You barely know it's there and it barely shows to others. Very good voice clairty. Easy to operate.

Weakness: On-Off button and volume button too small and difficult to locate while wearing.

When my husband and I purchased new Razr phones, we also both purchased Voyager 510 bluetooth headsets. Though we've never used a bluetooth headset before and have nothing to compare to, we both believe these are just the best and greatest. Since then, our daughter purchased one and we purchased another one for our son as a gift. We all feel like it's one of the best things we've owned in a long time. We call ourselves 'the Borg' and joke about our 'implants'. We love the blue, blinking light! As far as 'freedom' goes, it is so great to be able to speak on the phone over a very good distance from the phone itself. When I first got it, I left my phone in the house and went clear out to the end of our driveway and was still able to have a conversation. It's wireless capability is essential and outstanding while driving. I would highly recommend the Voyager 510 to anyone wanting wireless connectivity with little effort.

Great Device...Quality Bluetooth product that is...

Strengths: Small, Comfortable, Great Sound, long battery life

Weakness: Dorky appearance like all BT devices

I researched which device that I wanted and was pleased with the reviews on this BT Headset. I went ahead and ordered it for under $50 and won't look back.

Highly recommend.

Finally - Bluetooth that Works!!

Strengths: Comfortable, good battery time, EXCELLENT Connectivity

Weakness: None so far

I have been through the Jabra BT250 with complete dissatisfaction. Went to the Jabra BT500 which had great battery life and was extremely comfortable, but got tired of people asking me what I was talking through, if I was in a tunnel, etc. Almost everyone commented on the poor quality of transmission in the other end. Soooooo, I did some research on the Internet and ended up with this Plantronics set. WOW is all I can say. No complaints from anyone, exactly the opposite. Callers saying I am coming in loud and clear. It also manages to not look as dorky as some of the sets on the market. Not to mention the price is unbelievable for such performance.
I have always heard good things about Plantronics technology.... I am never looking back

fantastic, but there's a trick to turning it on!

Strengths: fits nicely comfortable light terrific range

Weakness: recharger plug is a little flimsy

I tried this product again. I almost returned it, again, until I realized that there's a tiny on-off switch located just above the volume rocker switch on the behind-the-ear piece. It looks like an LED and (AFAICT) isn't discussed in the documentation. Anyway, if you realize that, then this becomes the BT headset to buy! Besides this, I've tried the Cardio Scale, Jabra BT250, and Logitech Mobile Freedom, and the (Motorola) "Treo 650" headset. This has the best range of any of them, is equal in comfort to the Jabra, and is as good in car AC as the Logitech (the Logitech might be slightly better outside in the wind, but not much). It's a snap to put on, and you don't look (too much) like a dork wearing it. This is a really nice headset!

A great headset

Strengths: Sleek, unobtrusive design. Very comfortable. Volume strength excellent. Talk/standby time excellent.

Weakness: None significant.

The first time I tried using it, I called my fiancee and she didn't even know I was on a headset. The reception is very clear and the volume is more than adequate. I find that this is the most comfortable headset I've ever had, since it uses the inner earpiece to distribute its weight more evenly. As a result, it's hardly noticeable that I'm wearing it.

My only gripe is that the volume buttons on the back of the unit are a bit tiny and hard to tell one from another. But since I just control the headset's volume with buttons on my phone, it's a moot point anyway.

Overall, a great piece of technology.

comfortable to wear, good sound

Strengths: light, confortable to wear, good sound

Weakness: not very practical buttons to press when you have it on your ear

compared to the 2500 this 510 model is more confortable, lighter to wear, better sound, ability to connect to 2 devices and switch between both. not any big difference with the noise cancelling micro. connect to phone very fast. very good to use in home and office but not for active/outdoor/travel ppl. it's less robust built than the 2500 model, will break easily.

Great bluetooth product.

Strengths: Light and good sound.

Weakness: None so far.

I looked at many other products and the price/performance ratio was very good. I would recommend this to anyone. It is not clunky and it doesn't make you look like a trekkie! I would buy this again.

Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset

Strengths: Cheap

Weakness: Be aware, the produce is NOT in retail package. Slow customer service response.

The product is NOT retail. Possible used!! Took me a long time for customer service to getback to me. Ask for return too even longer to process. It's been a month and the return process has not finished. You be the judge. WILL NOT DEAL WITH THEM EVER AGAIN.

Incompatibility with LG EnV

Strengths: very good sound in and out, very comfortable, just a great headset

Weakness: on/off button needs getting used to

WARNING WARNING
Just purchased a brand new LG EnV (LG VX9900) and had to learn that it is not compatible with the Plantronics Voyager 510. Making calls and using Voice commands is no problem, but answering calls is not working as it should. The phone does not recognize the signal from the headset to take the call. The call gets transferred to the phone, or ends up unanswered.
So, if you plan to buy a LG EnV, this is not the headset to go with it.
It worked perfectly with my previous Moto V710.
Even the simultaneous connection to the cell-phone and a cordless phone via Jabra bluetooth adapter worked great.

Nice Bluetooth earpiece

Strengths: Lightweight, good sound, good battery life.

Weakness: Minor connection problems.

At first glance, the unit looks bulky, but is in fact quite comfortable; I have found that I prefer having the bulk of the device behind my ear compared to other earpieces which place the weight to the outside of the ear, with just a clip behind the ear. My ear does not get sore as it did with the other type.

Occasionally it and my phone (Motorola Razr) lose their connection, even when close together, sometimes while not even in use. Not sure which is to blame for that, but it's infrequent enough that it's no big deal.

GREAT PRODUCT

Strengths: VERY LOUD AND CLEAR. PERSON ON OTHER END CANNOT TELL YOUR ON HEAD SET!

Weakness: HAVE HAD FOR 6 MONTHS AND NEED TO FIGURE OUT IF I CAN REPLACE BATTERY? I CHARGE AND IS DEAD WITH IN 5 MIN. NO PROBLEMS BEFORE THAT

THIRD HEADSET I HAVE PURCHASED AND THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST! USE ON MY NEXTEL I870 PHONE. IF I LEAVE PHONE IN MY CLIP ON MY BELT, RECEPTION IS NOT GOOD. WHEN I DRIVE I CLIP ON VISOR AND WORKS PERFECT!

Get this headset now (if you need one)

Strengths: Size, comfort, price

Weakness: Power on/off button is difficult to operate

Very good product. I use sparingly (unlike most poseurs out there). I purchased for use in my car, and those rare times that I will be on the phone during a bike ride, etc.

Product works as advertised. I charged it and promptly tested it right in my house using my wife on the house phone. Worked great. Later "testing" in my truck on the highway confirmed that I had made a wise purchase.

I recommend buying this product if you are in the market for a bluetooth headset; I own a Motorola V3C (Razr) and it easily paired with the headset.

The best bluetooth headset

Strengths: Battery life, sound quality, comfort, volume has the capability to be much louder than other units.

Weakness: Power button is a little tricky. It would be nice if it had an external ringer but I'm not aware of any bluetooth headsets that have this feature.

I tried several other headsets, Motorola, Jabra, etc. None were as comfortable or as clear as the Voyager 510. I forget I'm wearing this headset, it's so comfortable. The battery life on the Voyager 510 has them all beat. I have to charge my phone nightly, however only charge the Voyager about once a week.

Great Headset

Strengths: Very Loud, comfortable, lots of ear pieces to chose from

Weakness: Not universal recharger, loses connection every once in awhile. Power button is difficult to push.

This is a great bluetooth headset. I drive a company Ford Taurus and it is horrible for road noise, but with this headset I hear everything clearly, sometimes I even need to turn the volume down. The weakness's I listed above are the same others have pointed out, but overall it is a great bluetooth headset.

Not to bad

Strengths: The sound and the volume is just amazing along with the great clarity.

Weakness: I think my ear is too little I find it falling out easily and often that or I just don't know how to wear it. :( Also the on/off button

This is my first Bluetooth ever....WOW I feel like I am really coming to the ages...lol. The clarity is great and the headset IF IT STAYS ON MY EAR is comfortable. I'm not to keen on the on/off switch but I guess if you don't want to accidentally shut the headset off then it would make since just which it was not so hard to do. Other then that over all I like it.

Do not buy any other headset!

Strengths: This is the best by far. Comfy, stays put, charges fast, great sound on both ends.

Weakness: None

I had one for 7 months and it stopped taking a charge. May have been my bad, cuz I plugged it it while it was on, (don't do that). Sent it to Plantronics, and they sent it back in a week, working fine, with a new charger and set of ear tips!

Plan 510 headset

Strengths: Comfort, dual cell and office use, great reception.

Weakness: People have a hard time hearing me.

I purchased the device because it will work with my office phone and cell phone. Love that feature. It is comfortable and I even forget it is in. The problem I have is that even in my office with very little noise beyond the HVAC unit people say they have a hard time hearing me when I am talking on it. I have had a motorola that did not have that problem but it would not serve dual purpose feature.

Voyager 510

Strengths: Great sound (incoming and outgoing). Great range (70ft from phone - clear line of sight). Comfortable

Weakness: ????Haven't found any. :-)

Decided on this headset after test driving about 12 headsets. Went through several sites and pricegrabber had the best price. I read the reviews "the highest rated one under $50". After reading the reviews and then using it, the reviewers were dead-on: This headset works great (sound quality), has great range (70ft-clear line of site. 40ft-In a high electrial disturbance area.) I can lay my phone(Nextel ic902) on the bar near the center of my home and walk anywhere in the home and about 45 ft outside to feed my dog (aprox 65ft from phone).
Headset is convenient to wear and charge w/ good battery life. I read reveiws claiming that it is hard to push the on/off button.......I did not find this problem. Put your thumb at the charging port. Find the bump on the on/off switch with your index finger and pinch down. I can do it without even looking.
The volume is great. I can adjust volume on the phone and on the headset (Most headsets can only be adjusted ON the headset), so there is ample volume for any situation. Comfortable for hours of use. Headset does not move or wiggle like alot of over-the-ear headsets. So I can work and play (4-wheel'n). The headset comes with 3 ear adapters that go into your ear, so exact comfort is easy to achieve.
The half boom is sensitive enough for me to voice dial, even in my Tractor-trailer truck. Noise-cancelation qualities are great too. No one complains of "Truck noise" now.
The foam piece that goes over the microphone can slip off, with in and out of pocket maneuvers. Someone suggested a small drop of glue to solve that problem. But, I don't need it except in windy situations. So, I may just leave it off.

Good Headset

Strengths: Pairs easily with the Sprint 6700 and Sprint Mogul (6800).Good clarity on both ends.I can actually hear other people with this headset (good volume)Comfortable earpiece

Weakness: It seems that over time, it has become more critical to get the alignment of the mic to my mouth just right.

I have had this headset for over a year, and have been really happy with it. It is comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I tried out 4 or 5 other headsets ranging in price from $20 to $150, and this was the only headset for which the following 2 things worked: 1) Other people could hear me without any distortion. 2) I could hear other people. A couple of the headsets I tried had active noise cancellation, and other people could hear me wonderfully, BUT I couldn\\\\\\\'t get the volume loud enough to hear them. I\\\\\\\'m not deaf by any means, it\\\\\\\'s just that most headsets don\\\\\\\'t have enough volume to the earpiece. This was the first headset I found where I had to actually keep the volume off of max. They seem to have good range. I have been able to get 30 - 50 feet out of them, with little static. I even keep my phone downstairs, and am able to make it to some rooms upstairs without the headset cutting out. Pretty impressive to me. All in all, this is a good headset, that I got at a great price ($50). There are probably newer and better models out there, but this one still keeps me happy.

Perfect headset in every way!

Strengths: Comfort, battery life, call quality (both ways), interchangeable ear pieces, pairs quickly, blocks wind noise (up to a moderate breeze).

Weakness: Blocks wind better than other headsets but it does still get wind noise with strong wind.

First of all, the comfort and call quality are the most notable strong points. You will (as I have) forget that they are on. Granted, it wraps around the ear, but it the weight is balanced and the material is not smooth and no rough edges (smooth can be a bad thing). There are 3 ear pieces you can use. One is a weird shape that sort of locks into the ear, one is large and you stuff it in your ear (good for loud environments) and the small round piece is the best in my opinion as it simple rests just inside the ear, making it easy to forget you are wearing it.

The call quality it excellent. Clear as a bell. Callers have never asked if I was on a bluetooth (you can usually tell if someone is on headset due to an echo, the annoying voice feedback where they hear their own voice, and/or a hollow sound). In fact, callers couldn't tell that I was on a cell phone. This thing gives better call quality than the cell phone itself. Way above my expectations.

It pairs very quickly. You turn on bluetooth on your phone, then turn on the headset, and once it has been paired (holding the call button for about 5 seconds), and once it is kept in your phone's memory, all you do is turn on the bluetooth and get in range and it automatically pairs as soon as it is in range.

The blue LED is easily and permanently turned off by turning off the device, and holding the power button and the volume up button. After the device is paired, the LED doesn't turn on for any reason. This is nice to keep things more low profile.

The wind protection is a good thing to have, and works well up to a moderate breeze.

Of all the headsets I have come across, this is the best I have experienced. I don't have to have the phone on the same side of my body as the ear that it is on, it doesn't get crackly, and it never drops out.

The buttons are easy to operate and are sturdy. Despite the occasional review about the volume button being slightly loose, I have not experienced this. It's firmly in place. An extremely minute amount of play is to be expected from ANY button, and this one is minimal.

A great headset that gives great results. Perfect in every way.

One of the best headsets out there

Strengths: great sound clarity and quality. Battery lasts forever, never has run out.

Weakness: A little big. Volume controls a little hard to use.

This is the best headset I have used. With my Sprint Samsung phone is was incredible. It had great sound clarity and great noise canceling abilities. I have a deep voice that most cell phones have a hard time picking up and this worked perfectly. I now have a Cingular (ATT) 3125 PDA flip phone and it picks up too much background noise, but with everyone else's phone it works great.

Nice headset for its price range

Strengths: Fits in the ear well; good noise filtering; folds nicely into a flat profile; nice battery life; great for its price range

Weakness: Power/Mute switch can be difficult to press sometimes...

After reading several reviews, I decided to give this headset a try. It did not disappoint! Most people were able to hear me just fine--even with some background noise. It is still vulnerable to a decent breeze, but that's an issue with practically all bluetooth headsets. It's able to fold nicely into a profile that matches the headset's thickness. It even fits nicely into a pouch I bought for the headset so I can easily keep it in my pocket. Perhaps the most annoying caveat is the small Power/Mute button. At times, it can be quite hard to press. Overall, while it's no Aliph Jawbone, I would recommend this headset to anyone who doesn't want to spend or risk losing a near-$100 bluetooth headset.

Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset

Strengths: Good, stable connection with Razr series phones. Easy setup.Good enough battery life

Weakness: None

There are few things in the package, like chargers, a couple of earplugs/caps, etc. so you can easily adjust your device to your ears. It works at the distance of about 30 feet. Occasionally, it drops calls; usually when charge is low or you exceed about 30 feet distance from your phone. Reception is very clear comparing to other similar devices (like Motorola H500). Overall – good item.

Missing my Voyager 510

Strengths: lightweight, easy to pair, noise reduction, long battery time

Weakness: connection with charger, blue led (you can turn off)

I loved this bluetooth. I had to get used to the ear bud (I was using a jabra goes into ear canal).Once I did I forgot I had it on. It was easy to pair with my Motorola V557. I never had any dropped calls. I always drive with my windows down (70mph).No one could hear the wind noise. Conversations were clear on both sides. The only drawback/ the connection where the charger plugs into the plantronics, broke off in the jack. Be careful when plugging and unplugging the charger. Mine is now inoperable. I will purchase another Voyager 510. Maybe not with the same merchant.

Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset

Strengths: Quality of earpiece clarity. Comfort and fit. Full integration with voice commands on my LG phone.

Weakness: Battery?

I drive a tractor-trailer and this is the third bluetooth headset I've owned. The performence of the previous 2, a Motorola HS850 and a Blue Parrot 150, just weren't satisfactory for my needs. Using a choice of three different sized foam earpieces, the Voyager 510 fits into the ear, cutting out the ambient noises from my big rig. It is very comfortable and often times I forget I'm even wearing it. Earpiece clarity is excellent, as it produces clear, natural sound. After the first week, my battery went dead and would not take a charge, but after a call to Plantronics customer service, they had another unit sitting on my front porch in 48 hours! I haven't read anywhere else of battery problems with the Plantronic products, so I'm sure this was just an aberration. I highly recommend this headset to other truck drivers or anyone who works in a noisy environment.

Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset

Strengths: Clarity, windscreen to filter out most wind

Weakness: Volume hard to turn down and the Power Button is hard to press on, only has two hours talk time, when you're past your two hours the person you're speaking to can't hear you

So far so good, I heard this was the best one out there to get. I had problems with the Jabra I had and it was recommended by my cell phone providers website. The bluetooth headset cost me nearly $80 and didn't last but 30 days. I wish I didn't write the review I did on it. This one has lasted nearly two months and the only real trick you have to deal with is getting the power on and off button to work but other than that it works very well for my purposes. Oh yes, the other downside is it only lasts about two hours on talk time but standby time is fairly long. I still charge it every night anyway. If you are looking for something to filter out wind it does fairly well but can still pick up some background noises. Maybe that's just mine. I would recommend if your only focus is filtering out wind but other than talk time would recommend something else with longer talk time. Lastly when I was beyond the two hours, the bluetooth kept beeping and when I was talking to someone they couldn't hear me. If that happens switch off your bluetooth and charge so you don't lose the person you're talking to. Hope this helps someone. Thanks

Excellent ( 4 stars )

I have tested this on using Skye and here are my observations:

Positive's:
1. Pretty decent headset,
2. Excellent battery life.
3. Good volume.

Non-Positives (Won't call negatives)
1. call quality in Skye is not good at ranges> 10 feet.

Great product, highly recommend this headset.

Not as nice as expected.

Strengths: Quality of sound is better than other bluetooth headsets, even with excessive background noise.

Weakness: Disconnects randomly and often.

This headset has a mind of it's own, and disconnects from the phone whenever it feels like it, even when the phone is right next to it. Otherwise it's fine, but it's a pain when your conversations are constantly interrupted and you have to connect to your headset again.

Review for Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset

Strengths: Very comfortable, louder than most others I've owned, great battery.

Weakness: Petty, but small on and off switch. Nothing else.

I've owned 3 other popular and highly rated units. Voyager 510 was much louder and more comfortable than they were. I don't usually wear the unit unless I'm talking but several times I forgot that the unit was on my ear when I get out of my truck.

Great sound

Strengths: great sound

Weakness: annoying on/off button

Previously, I had the Motorola 810 bluetooth device. The Motorola's "open the boom and you're on" feature was terrific. The Plantronics has a very inconvenient on/off button, however, the sound is so much better that it's worth the inconvenience.

Plantronics

Strengths: Eeasy to use

This was very simple to set up with the Krazr and works much better than the Motorola's I have purchased in the past. Also fits perfectly around the ear.

JUST PLAIN GREAT PERFORMANCE!

Strengths: Great sound quality, both sides work well in noisy environment, long battery life, comfortable all-day wearability, and absolutely no echo.

Weakness: On/Off button. Tiny thumbnail switch with absolutely no tactile feedback. OK to use if you keep your eye on the pilot light when you turn it on or off.

After using this headset, I can well understand why NASA uses Plantronics. I just threw away the three other headsets I bought before this one. The two best features are the lack of that annoying echo and the performance of the noise-canceling microphone.

Great Headset.

Strengths: Affordable, Excellent Sound, Comfortable, Long Standby/Talk time.

Weakness: The power button is very hard to press.

The Headset comes with 3 different sized earpieces (S,M,L) to better fit your ear. The sound quality is very good. and the volume can be adjusted to be VERY loud. I can hear people clearly while driving or in a noisy datacenter. People on the other end have problems hearing me.

Once you've paired with a phone or PC when you power it on, it looks for the last device you paired it with. very convenient.

The only gripe I have about this headset is with the power button. Although it's notched and easy to locate, It's very difficult to press it while it's on your ear. It's best to get into the habit of turning it on before putting it on your ear and taking it off before powering it off.

I've used this headset with no problems with the following phones: LG PM-325, Motorola RAZR V3xx, Blackberry 7290, and a Samsung SGH-i607.

I do not and have not used any voice dialing features with this headset so I cannot comment.

Excellant product

Strengths: small, comfortable, excellent sound quality

A few weeks ago I bought a Motorola 350 but returned it 2 days later because everytime I moved my head, the headset also moved. It was not comfortable.

I did alot of research and found that the Plantronics 510 had the best customer reviews so last week I decided to buy it. I love this headset. I played around with the attached earpieces and found the smallest one was the most comfortable but the headset works great without any of the earpieces.

The sound quality is excellent, it doesn't move when I turn my head, works great without any of the ear attachments, works great with my LG 500, and the battery life so far is great but I only own it for 1 week.

If anything changes, I will create a new review but so far I am giving it a perfect 10!

not compatible with treo 700P

Strengths: sound quality

Weakness: treo 700P

I was using the head seat with a treo 650 and it was outstanding. Now with the treo 700P, it will not stay paired. Palm doesn't know when it will have a fix.........

Love this headset!

Strengths: Light, plenty of volume, comfortable

Weakness: not the coolest style in the world, but who cares, it's the best BT on the market!

I have had so many different BT headsets... the Motorola that just sits on your ear and with the window down you can't hear worth beans. The Plantronics 640 which is cool, but batt. life is a bit weak and noise is awful on the freeway or in the wind. I did hear the 645 is better. Then I picked this one up. What a sweet headset! I use a Blackberry, so the volume control I do on it vs. using the headset itself. The on and off button is a bit irritating because you have to get it just right and then press (nice stabbing sensation in your finger). BUT it's not something I would say is a big deal because all I care about is sound and comfort. This has it! I hear the new one is even better.

Also, the base for your office makes this a clear winner over any other BT headset on the market. Great for Help Desk folks and/or Techs. Or... just the normal person who is on the phone a lot in the office and in your personal phone boot (I mean your car). Don't wait, buy it now!!!

A fabulous headset!

Strengths: Small, light, durable, multiple ear pieces

Weakness: Power button is too small and pointy, volume buttons are hard to find

The Plantronics Voyager 510 is an excellent bluetooth headset. It's so small and light sometimes I'll forget I have it on [I've ran into that twice at work already]. At first the behind the ear part might be a little uncomfortable, but that fades fast and it does end up feeling more secure on the ear. The headset seems very durable and amazingly fits well in a pants pocket because of the soft plastic.

At first I got the Explorer 320 at a Cingular store when I got my phone, but after I found the upgraded Voyager 510 for cheaper I took the 320 back. Unlike the 320, the 510 has three interchangeable soft ear pieces, one that sticks in your ear, one that's round and small, and another round one that's bigger. If you have an unusual ear or find other headset uncomfortable this is the headset for you! Also, it has WindSmart wind-repelling screen for clear voice transmission, a plus for me since I like to bike ride. I've even been on a packed bus, extremely noisy restaurant - a lot of places you think the headset wouldn't work very well, and all my callers say they hear me great.

The battery life is supposedly shorter than the 320, but I've never had it go into low battery yet. I wish it had a USB charger included too, but that's extra. Or for that matter it would be nice if it would charge with a mini-USB cord like my phone.

The only thing I don't like is the power button. I don't know what the designers were thinking, but it's incredibly difficult to push and so pointy/sharp it can hurt! I did like the idea of having separate volume buttons, but they can be difficult to find and push. On the flip side the main button can be too easy to push as I've hung up on callers while adjusting the headset.

Overall I'm very impressed with the headset, I would highly recommend it.

Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset

Strengths: It can pair up to two devices at a time. It is inexpensive compared to others with similar ergonomics

Weakness: None so far

This is one of the better bluetooth headsets available. The over the ear design is comfortable and you do not feel that it is there. The range and sound quality are both good. It has louder volume than most bluetooth headsets so you can hear the other person in a noisy environment. Overall a good value.

Plantronics Voyager 510

Most Bluetooth headsets manage to defeat the purpose of going wireless. Either they’re too painful to wear for extended periods of time or they run out of juice halfway through your workday. The Voyager 510 is different. In addition to offering a whopping six hours of talk time, it’s the most comfortable wireless headset we’ve ever tested. <p> <p>The device comes with three removable...

Plantronics Voygaer 510 Review

Bluetooth Headsets are pretty common place these days. I myself can’t casually walk around with the thing stuck in my ear where as others aren’t phased by some doodad hanging off their head. Thanks to a new California law it’s now required that you use a handsfree device while driving. Thank God, because cell phones and SUVs don’t mix. <p>In my opinion, a Bluetooth headset should be both...
