Cabela's Deer Hunt: 2004 Season XboxStrengths: Graphics Weakness: None, Really If you like any Deer Hunter games, then this one is probably for you. This is just a very good, fun, deer hunter type game. You get to shoot all sorts of prize animals, and bring them home to your trophy room. How can you go wrong? Great game.. Cabela's Deer Hunt: 2004 Season XboxStrengths: Great graphics and animations of animals. The sounds of environment and gun are good. Weakness: Complex controls and some in-game slow-down. This is a great hunting simulation for those who find it too cold to go outside! The excellent graphics and sound effects add up to a fairly complete experience. The controls are hard to use at first, but with practice it works well. The retro rock music in the menus is a nice touch. I like being able select different players and like many sports games, such as start quickly with "quick hunt" or season-like with "career hunt" modes. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Cabela's Deer Hunt 2004 Season
A casual stroll in the woods is shattered by the sharp report of a rifle. People are wandering about, tracking elusive prey who seem to sense that it is hunting season. Cabela’s Deer Hunt 2004 Season, from Activision and Fun Labs, for the Xbox is more than a Sunday afternoon jaunt through the woods. It is game that requires patience and preparation. You can’t go hunting unless you are... Top

Strengths: Realistic gear and weapons, tries to be as true to life as possible to get the "genuine hunting feel"
Weakness: vehicles hard to control at times
If you like to hunt in the deep woods, you will love this game. Unlike many of the shooters for the Xbox, you will not be able to use the tried and true strategy of arming yourself to the teeth an run around blasting away at everybody and everything. No, in this game, your "enemies" or prey are much harder to find. You will have to use real life items to attract them like deer scents, decoys, and calls (but in this game, the deer call sounds like a cow mooing... like the Hurricane would say, "whazzupwitdat???"). You have to be more patient and deliberate with this game and actually wait for the deer to come to you, but when you do bag your first deer, it makes you feel good because of all the work you did to stalk and finally kill your prey. You can also use a variety of weapons like bows, rifles, and magnums.
You will also have access to a variety of vehicles, such as snowmobiles, ATVs, boats, etc... which will allow you to cover more ground than by walking. Unfortunately, the vehicle controls can get pretty tricky at times, even frustrating. You will also encounter some glitches in the game; like when I was stalking one deer, out of nowhere, my hunter decides to get up and begin walking backwards away from the prey, instead of towards it. (Huh?). The graphics could also have been a little better, but it is good enough to serve its purpose. Overall, a decent game.
