Sandisk 2GB Ultra II Memory Stick Pro Duo

Strengths: Fast (faster than any of Sony’s offerings), very small form factor, sweet spot of memory size vs. price, included adapter to (larger) Memory Stick, Lifetime Warranty

Weakness: Small size might make it easy to lose, no direct Memory Stick Pro Duo readers (at least none that I know of)

This was purchased to be used with a Sony DSC-N1 camera. It seems that 2GB is quickly becoming the new sweet spot in size vs. price, selling for less than double the price of 1GB memory sticks. With 2GB, I no longer have to worry during those long trips or bother switching to a lower megapixel setting to conserve space. And I can feel free to take full-motion high quality videos as well.

The Sandisk Ultra II Memory Stick Pro Duo is rated at 66X Read and 60X Write (10MB/s and 9MB/s). For real-world performance, I tested using SiSoft Sandra and got the following:

Sandisk 2GB Ultra II Memory Stick Pro Duo
Access time: 13 ms
Read speed: 6.0 MB/s
Write speed: 3.13 MB/s

Sony 256MB Memory Stick (provided for comparison)
Access time: 16 ms
Read speed: 3.3 MB/s
Write speed: 0.91 MB/s

So the memory is quite fast, which is always welcome since performance affects shot-to-shot time when taking digital photos.

Although Sandisk’s offerings are often priced much lower than Sony’s, don’t be quick to assume that reliability would be any different. I’ve been using a SanDisk CompactFlash card in a different camera for over a year, and I’ve never had any problems to date. Flash memory is already quite durable and reliable since it contains only integrated chips (no moving parts). So there’s really no reason to worry about it ever failing, but in the event that it does, it’s nice to know that it’s covered under Sandisk’s Lifetime Warranty.

2GB 60x Memory Stick Pro Duo

Strengths: Good Storage Capacity, Fast Speeds

Weakness: High Price for proprietary format

Get this version over the Sony version. This one is faster than the Sony one. Also, Sandisk helped develop this format so they know what they are doing.

I used it for PSP, mp3, and movies. No difference between Ultra II and regular memory pro for the PSP.

However, in my digital camera the extra speed does make a difference.

I am a little bit annoyed that Sony always forces their proprietary format on us though.

However, I would recommend this product.

SanDisk 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo Ultra II

Strengths: Large capacity, superb transfer speed, small size

Weakness: sometimes difficult to handle due to its minuscule size

SanDisk, the company that specializes in computer storage, has done it again! Even though it does not live up to its claimed speed of 9 MB/sec, it does transfer at an average rate of 7.25 MB/sec (a 783MB movie file was transferred in less than 2 minutes via USB 2.0!), unlike Sony High Speed, which claimes 10 MB/sec (or 80Mbps), but only do barely less than 5 MB/sec. I'm going to buy SanDisk in the future... no more Sony Memory Sticks for me!

2GB 60X Ultra II Memory Stick PRO Duo w/ MS Adapter

Strengths: Fast transfer rate

Weakness: none

This card was a bargain compared to retail stores. I bought it for my Sony psp and it has performed excellent. Can be used with certain digital cameras and comes with a pro adapter. Don't hesitate to buy from this seller. Highly recommended.

Current fastest memory pro in the market

Strengths: Super fast, no doubt.

Weakness: Too small, have to be careful might stick it some place else.

I used it on my PSP games, listen mp3, and watch divx money. I didn't find out any different between Ultra II and regular memory pro. However, it doesn't make a different when you trying to rip a dvd movie or game from UMD to memory. The Ultra II performed better than regular memory pro.

Sandisk UltraII 2GB Pro Duo w/ adapter

Strengths: Storage capacity, build quality, MS adapter included

Weakness: Probably easy to lose if you are not careful

I have a Sony S600 camera and needed cards. This compares just as favorably with the Gaming version A10 being a bit quicker I think in fast bursts use. Transfers at the PC end seem to be very close to the A10 as already noted elsewhere. The storage capacity I have yet to max out on either card since I'm still learning but it's plenty for my needs. Seems built as well as the A10.

Sandisk Ultra II

Strengths: Price, Size, Speed,

Using this in a Sony W-7. My wife reports that the pics seem to be loading quicker than the previous Sony memory stick pro that she was using. Sandisk just has better quality products.

SanDisk 2GB Ultra II Memory Stick PRO Duo

Strengths: 2gigs great for a digital camera, over 1000 shots for 4x6 pictures. Memory stick works well, no problems so far.

The 2GB 60X Ultra II Memory Stick PRO Duo w/ MS Adapter works great, my camera records the pictures into it instantaneously as though it's writing into it's internal memory. I've heard some other memory sticks suffer from minor time-lags to write the data.

Honest opinion from an Electronics Tech

Strengths: Flexibility in use

Weakness: Accessories not good quality

Unit worked fine out of the box. The "case" is junk and not
worth the manufacturing process. The adapter is obviously not designed for a lot of insertions as you can feel the memory card hook/catch on the contacts inside the adapter. I would not recommended using this device where there will be lots of insertions into the adapter - I'm sure it will break. Electronically it seems fast, other than an old 32 MB memory to compare it to - it seems much faster. I would buy again but wouldn't think I was getting good quality with the adapter or case. Memory has yet to fail. Best of luck!

Sandisk 2gb ProDuo Ultra II

Strengths: Very fast and reliable

Weakness: None

I've been using this product for over 2 months and so far, have not found any flaws. I use it exclusively for my PSP. It is very fast compared to other memory sticks I've used in the past. I've used both Sony's memory sticks and Gaming Pro Duos by Sandisk. This stick is the fastest by far.

A big upgrade from the Sony "High Speed" sticks

Strengths: Blazing speeds, cool looks

Weakness: none

Highly recommended and infinitely better than the Sony "High Speed" sticks. Looks better too. Jumped on the deal and am very happy with the purchase. Would purchase the Ultra II products again.

Cool Media

Strengths: Nice color compared to the SONY one Free Adapter

Weakness: I hope the adapter is a USB adapter....

This is the Ultra II card so I think the speed should be pretty fast. However, I just tried it in my PSP and my computer and I couldn't find any difference compared to my Sandisk Gaming 1GB MSPD card. However, I found it did write and read faster form my computer's memory card reader.

SanDisk 2GB 60X Ultra II Memory Stick PRO Duo

Strengths: Really impressed by its transfer SPEED. It even came with a adapter, I don't use it that much, but it can still serve as a protective case at the times I switch out the memory stick from my PSP.

Weakness: little to none.

I mainly use it to put songs onto my PSP. Compared to the SONY HIGH SPEED that my roommate has, mine is a LOT faster. He currently owns a 1G and is planning to upgrade, upon using mine, he has opt to get either a SANDISK ULTRA II 2G or 4G instead of a SONY.

Exceeded expectations

Strengths: Noticably faster that the standard SanDisk Pro Duo.

Weakness: None.

I already have the standard 256MB SanDisk Pro Duo and was looking to go up to 2GB, but I wasn't sure if spending an extra $20 would be worth upgrading to the Ultra II line. Fortunately, it was. No complaints. The capture speed in my CyberShot DSC P-100 and download to PC are noticeably faster. Over 25 minutes of video at 30fps, or 800+ 5.0 MegaPixels shots - impressive. I'd recommend this to someone looking for more speed, huge memory capacity, and quality.

Enough storage for 6 MP Camera

Strengths: Enough storage, faster transfer rate, comes with memory stick adapter

Weakness: none so far

I bought it for my new 6 MP camera. Got the memory stick on a amazing deal. It was cheaper than the regular SanDisk memory stick pro. I don't want to carry two 1 MB memory sticks. One is perfect with enough space.

I highly recommend this product since it's faster than the regular card.

I am really satisfied with the product.

2GB Ultra II Pro Duo

Strengths: Ample storage space without the bulk

Weakness: none

Found a good deal on this card and was worth every penny. Good price on a card that has all the qualities of the Sony card and a bit more on top of that. Comes with an adapter that is really convenient for transferring to and from the pc.

2GB Ultra II Pro Duo

Strengths: Large capacity, small size, good price.

Weakness: None

I really like this memory stick. It allows me to hold lots of photos on a very tiny card. It has a quick transfer speed as well, so I don't have to wait around to get the data off the stick. It is just as good as a Sony card, but it is cheaper. I highly recommend buying it if you need a high capacity memory stick for a reasonable price.

Memory Stick Duo

Strengths: Cheaper and faster then the equivalent Sony, excellent performance characteristics and durability, I use ultraII in all of my cameras and portable equipment and never had a problem

Weakness: not quite as fast as some flash parts available. Some manufacturers already providing x133 parts

I like Sandisk flash, I use it for my palm, mp3 and all of my cameras. MS Duo is another fine part. I don't like Sony's Memory stick format because I have to pay 2x premium for the memory, however if I have to buy it (and Sony does make some fine cameras) Sandisk is the way to go, I was part of the group evaluating CF parts at my company and Sandisk has excellent sustained transfer rate and power fault managment characteristics. I was impressed after that eval and started buying Sandisk parts for all of my portables. I liked their technology so much, I've even invested in the company :-)
