LaCie is to be avoided
Strengths: nice looking
Weakness: does not work
This thing must be for PCs not Macs. LaCie sent a broken drive, the replacement they sent was a rebuilt and used, it did not have the proper install CD and still does not work well.
LaCie is at least a 30 min. hold time for support and then you get some rude jerk who wants to blame you for the problem and threatens to hang up on you, no thanks.

Sorry you had such a bad experience with Lacie products. Is this the only hard drive you have ever had from them?
I currently have 4 of them in use and all work wonderfully well. I could have probably written the same comments you wrote some time back with a WD MYBOOK I purchased. I guess the point is that with every manufacturer we all run across a lemon at one time or another.
Lacie has outstanding products in my view and are to be considered with all others when buying a hard drive for your use.
So far my experience with Lacie products and support has been outstanding to the point that I just purchased another hard drive yesterday from them for my daughter's computer as a gift to her.
