D-Link Air Wireless Adapter

Strengths: Easy to install and convinient for travel

Weakness: Its appearance is not good

In total, this adapter is great for its price. I have been using it for more than 9 months without any problems. It worked well after I installed.

D-Link Air Wireless Adapter

Strengths: Price and ease of installation. Portability

Weakness: Software installation

I have little experience with this. But liked the portability and the ease of using it in different computers. The software did NOT install as instructed with WIN 98SE, but I was very impressed with the tech support I received via telephone. I'd buy this again.

D-Link Air Wireless Adapter

Strengths: Cheap wireless solution

Weakness: Abysmal OS X suppoert

I got this adapter to use with my G3 ibook. The drivers for OS X on the cd were completely worthless, and the adapter crashed OS X on removal of the device, and at random intervals during use. A driver upgrade from D-link's site cut the crashes by 50%, but it still hangs the system after anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours of use. This adapter is cheap for a reason. If you have an older mac laptop, go for Apple's Airport.

D-Link Air Wireless Adapter

Strengths: Small, relatively simple software installation.

Weakness: OSX-to-OSX file transfer - hangs system, quirky connectivity.

No problem connecting to the Internet via wireless router although the software to do so seems to get confused when switching wireless networks. Had to delete all connections from the list and re-poll.

No problem when permitting an OS9 "client" to connect via IP to local disk. However, when attempting to do a "drag-&-drop" file transfer OSX-to-OSX initiated from the unit with this adapter, the local Mac "hangs" for a few minutes and drops the connection. I returned the adapter to the store for a refund.

D-Link Air Wireless Adapter

Strengths: Good Range, Easy to Use, Quick Install Time, Small/Compact Size, Comes with Extension cable for range, Good Software comes with it, and it is made by a reputable company.

I installed this on my ibook last weekend and have been having wireless fun and freedom ever since. I can adjust my WEP, and other wireless networking settings very quickly and settings take effect immediately. I have been hopping from hotspot to hotspot and I can get some good range with this and my DWL-900AP+ at home. Most people don't even notice the adapter connected to my ibook, and end up asking or giving more stares to see how I am actually connected online. Friends have been impressed, jealous, and envious, so I am satisfied. :)

Wireless USB Adapter 802.11b 11Mbps

Strengths: Easy to use, simple directions, installer disk has simple installation; it was much less expensive than other models!

Weakness: Sometimes (rarely) cannot use internet after connection is verfiied in a new location

The Wireless USB Adapter 802.11b 11Mbps I purchased has been a real joy for me. It enables me to use my Mac Laptop in any room of my house (or out on my deck) and both surf the web as well as share files from a Mac G4 desktop I have in my house.

It is easy to use and always seems to carry a strong signal. It has even detected two other wireless access points in my neighborhood and appears to have a signal-detection radius of at least 1000 feet.

DWL-122 = Tivo compatible

Strengths: Ease of installation, price, compatibility with Tivo Series 2

Weakness: none

This was the first wireless network adapter that I could find for sale that was "officially" compatible with a Tivo Series 2 Standalone DVR. Installation was simple, my Tivo (which had been connected over a friend's phone line for initial configuration) autodetected the adapter and walked me through the setup process. I am very pleased with this device and highly recommend it to anyone in need of a compatible Tivo wireless network adapter.
