LG Dishwasher LDS5811WWStrengths: looks good Weakness: poor reliability This dishwasher was a problem from day 1. Out of the box it had broken plastic parts on the racks. Stay away from this dishwasherStrengths: NONE Weakness: EVERYTHING Purchased this unit in Aug 2005 and it has been a nighmare. I even purchased a Best Buy 5 year service plan for this piece of junk. Most of the racks moving parts are broken. And it started making a funny whinning noise and leaking water out of the front door panel. I have been waiting a month for a repair. And know, after two different repair companies, I am told the parts are on backorder and they may not even fix the issue. I will NEVER buy LG again and I 100% of readers found this review helpful. GaryStrengths: Good job washing dishes Weakness: Poor reliability I\\\\\\\'ve had this dishwasher for about 2 years and have had 2 major failures already. The repair guy that fixed it the first type said that the internal parts were the most cheaply made of any model he had ever seen. Do not buy any LG products ever!!!Strengths: worked good for exactly 1 year and 2 weeks. Weakness: sump assembly(main motor and pump) quit.Labor to fix it is $300-400 and is not covered in warranty. Called LG and they said the part isn't even covered under warranty. They wouldn't help me out at all.Paid $566 for this thing and 1 year later it will cost about $500 to fix.I am going to throw it away and buy a different brand. I predict this company WILL be going out of business soon and I feel sorry for anyone who purchases one of these dishwashers. 100% of readers found this review helpful. IssuesStrengths: Not sure Weakness: Cleaning and reliability I have a 7811 and about 14 months into the use of this $1000 dishwasher it started making noises. Long story short, the repair guy is here right now replacing the motor. I have to pay labor, LG is covering the part. I will be out about $250 for this. The next repair, I will drag it out to the front of the house and the trashman can pick it up. PLEASE! LG means LOUSY GOODS!!!!!!!!!!!Strengths: None Weakness: Everything It leaks, the racks break, and the motor burns out in less than a year. After a horrendous experience with a LOUSY GOODS refridgerator, I don't even want it serviced. I want it OUT OF MY HOUSE!! DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHERStrengths: Cleans well and is quiet - WHEN IT WORKS Weakness: DOES NOT WORK RELIABLY - we have had 2 in less than one year and are still handwashing dishes! We have had 2 of these dishwashers, brand new, in less than one year. Both were LEMONS! Their licensed technicians cannot figure out why each either one would not work for longer that 5 months! Piece of crapStrengths: Gets dishes wet Weakness: Dishes stay wet If rinsing agent isn't used the machine will NOT cycle through the dry cycle. I don't need rinsing agent (Jet Dry) but decided, what the hell. Stay away from this dishwasherStrengths: None Weakness: Everything We purchased this dishwasher 3 years ago from Best Buy and purchased the 3 year extended warranty. During this time we have had service for the noise, broke wheels and other parts on the rack. 10 days after our extended warranty expired the dishwasher started to overflow. The main motor and pump are shot. I paid $700 for this dishwasher and it should last longer than 3 years. I will never buy an LG product again. Customer service is not helpful at all they basically just gave us some phone numbers of people who can service it and said you are on your own. JUNK !Strengths: Quiet... but only when it runs correctly which is not very often. Weakness: All the wheels on the upper rack broke within6 months. Does not fill properly without starting and restarting. Does not clean dishes well at all. This is THE worst dishwasher I have ever owned. The wheels on the upper racks cracked one at a time until they were all broke within 6 months of new. It struggles to start making loud noises as the pump tries to fill with water. When it finally gets going it is quiet but the results in terms of cleaning dishes is disappointing to say the very least. If you call for parts (even just plastic wheels for the rack) the dealer who sells it says LG is not good with getting parts. Of course they don't tell you that when you are buying it. useless expensive non-washing dishwasherStrengths: it fits in the hole it is meant to Weakness: everything else. absolutely everything else. well, our dishwasher has broken a mere month out of warranty. it has been a disappointment since day one. Expensive, so that we could have a "child lock" this dishwasher has dinged and pinged its way through so many forms of inadequacy. You must rinse everything and leave no food traces if you want it to come out clean. the child lock is a joke, they can still open the dishwasher in the middle of a cycle. Every single button dings when you press it, making it oh so attractive to toddlers, it can make music, and there is no way to stop them from turning the dishwasher on, unless you unplug it. Child lock - beyond useless. The racks are so poorly designed that this dishwasher fits in far fewer dishes and cups than should ever be the case. And now we have the dreaded "IE" error mesage of death, which it seems is expensive and futile to repair. There is no "inlet error" but there is no reset, so the dishwasher is on a permanent strike, unless we pay further ransom money to LG. Waste of money, waste of time, NEVER buy this dishwasher unless you like hand washing dishes with $20 dollar bills which you then throw away. Worst dishwasher and most expensive I have ever...Strengths: It's quiet but just because there is no spray pressure Weakness: Doesn't clean Doesn't dry Uses more rinse agent than any other washer Smells LG doesn't stand behind it I did get the pump replaced after a few months of use and LG covered this on warranty. When I called again because it would not dry the dishes they told me it was normal and would not fix it. This dishwasher is basically the worst I have owned in 40 years and since I usually buy less expensive units this is the most expensive I have owned. We bought LG appliances (Fridge, Stove, and Dishwasher). The dishwasher is the worst of the 3 but all the LG appliances are the worst we have owned. We will never purchase LG products or shop for appliances at Home Depot again. I wish we would have checked this site before we purchased our LG appliances. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Strengths: very quiet operation
Weakness: electronic issues?
My 1-year and two-week old LG 5811 is also showing an IE water inlet error. The unit is very quiet during operation, but the error message was a surprise. I've checked the feed line coming into the dishwasher... plenty of pressure and no obstruction. I can definitely say I'm not happy to have an issue only weeks after the 1-year warranty on labor expires. LG claims it will pay for parts, but not labor. I shouldn't have to pay anything on a relatively young dishwasher. We are a two-person household... it doesn't even get used that much.
