Outstanding (If You Get The Seal)

Strengths: Rich Bass Tones, Sound is clean and crisp

Weakness: Seal & Ease of them coming out of your ear

I must say, Im an avid fan of both in ear and headphone style listening. I tend to use headphone style when on planes, trains and in places when I want all sounds drowned out and nothing but the music coming in. The in ear beats by Dr. Dre are awesome in that respect as well. They give you wonderful bass notes and clear sounds, the only catch is you have to get the seal in your ear. I found that if you do not get that perfect fit sound is weak and quite bad in some respects. I love the design as it is unlike any other headphones that you will see out there. I do not regret this purchase at all, you just have to get that seal and sit still (they seem to come out easily if you move around to much) and enjoy being emerged in pure bliss from a great sounding earbud...

THE Bass Earphone

Strengths: Bass, depth of sound, no distortion at full volume

Weakness: Takes some time to get/find the right way to get a proper seal

I have been "searching" for a GOOD set of earphones for a few weeks. I have tried some Sony, Altec BackBeats, and Shure - trying to stay in the $75 - $100 range... and not much luck. Either not loud enough or muffled bass.

I decided to try these Beats, figuring I can return (like the others) if they don't meet up to their own hype. Getting them home, I unpacked and started fitting. Pretty time consuming, since you need to figure out if you need in-ear-canal or the standard buds, let alone the size and position of them!

Let me tell you... once you do WOW! The BASS lit up like the 4th of July and I have a HUGE smile on my face. The bass is deep, rich and clean. I was a dance club DJ years ago, so I am used to hard driving bass, and never thought I could afford this caliber of sound in little portable earphone. I have an iphone 3G and crank the volume to about 85-90% with no distortion. These feel like they can take full volume and have more to give. LOVE 'EM!

Be prepared for a little bit of frustration fitting them, mine sit just against the canal using the large bud to get a strong, air-tight seal and could pop out if I were an active person.

If you can spend the $150, and love deep rich bass - BUY THEM!

A whole lot of fun, though not as honest as some

Strengths: In depth bass, suitable for all kinds of music

Weakness: Lack of dynamics

When you’ve got the seal right you can get a good idea of what Dre’s studio sounds like. It’s a brash, exciting delivery with bags of energy that makes music invigorating and dramatic. With beat-heavy music they really rock. Midrange is well resolved but treble is a little ragged compared with the best. This raw quality may appeal, just as the punchiness may. The trouble is, it’s not necessarily the most honest mix.
