MS Voice Command 1.5 - Great Product

Strengths: Recognizes various commands without having to use specific words, Doesn't have to be voice trained, Gives far more control than just voice dialing capabilities through BT or phone.

Weakness: Has to be activated and used through phone instead of through BT.

I bought MS VC 1.5 to use with my new Verizon XV6700 since the unit did not support voice dialing. I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the software for about a week (I should have specified faster delivery). I got it today and I am THRILLED with the capability and ease of use. Once I got it installed (only about 5 minutes) I was using it right away to issue all types of voice commands. The only drawback is that it doesn't use BT to accept the commands. Even that problem in not insurmountable. All you have to do is activate the MS VC on your phone (using a button that you choose) and then speak your command naturally. You will already have the phone in hand from pressing the button, so the lack of BT support is not that inconvenient -- but it would make the product a stellar one if it was added in the next release. Overall, I would give the product 4 1/2 stars!

can you still make calls with BT after the command is heard?

Yes. After the call is activated through the phone's handset, if your BT is paired with your phone, you can just carry on your conversation through the headset as normal. Basically the software just automatically dials for you -- the phone continues to operate as normal. At this point, I've been using MS VC for about a month now and I still love it. Let me know if you have any other questions or if I can help in any other way.

Microsoft Voice Command 1.5

Strengths: Facilitates hands free use of a PPC phone.

Weakness: Doesn't natively support use over a BT headset.

For ease you use, assign this to a programmable hardware button.

There are hacks available that can be applied to make this work with a bluetooth headset, but the sound quality may be compromised.

Current version (1.5) does not support SmartPhones

Strengths: Not sure, could not install it.

Weakness: Does not support smartphones

I purchased this product on the recommendation of a friend who used it for a while and was very happy with it.
When I tried to install it, I got an error message telling me that my device was not supported. After spending over 45 minutes on hold I was able to speak to a technician at Microsoft who told me that the current shipping version (1.5) does not support SmartPhones and would only work with Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition (the PDAs seemed to be supported OK).
A new version (1.6) is supposed to be coming out sometime soon and should address this problem. Until then, I won't be able to really say much about the product.
