Optimum Nutrition 100% Casein, Chocolate Supreme, 2...Strengths: Tastes great, mixes well (with a blender), high protein, low carb and low calorie per serving. Weakness: Expensive This was my first experience with a casein protein powder and I have to say that I was really surprised at how much I like this blend. The casein blend is primarily micellar casein, which is the best kind, but what else do you expect with Optimum Nutrition as they consistently offer the best ingredients. However the price is more than other casein blends, like those from Dymatize or Muscle Milk. In 8 ounces of milk. this stiff mixed up thick, really thick. The consistency is almost like a pudding that hasn’t completely setup, but that’s how a casein protein is supposed to be. Forget about using a spoon to mix this up. You need either a stick blender or a real blender to mix everything or you end up with clumps. That being said, I really like the thicker consistency as it fills you up and really tastes great. My favorite way to mix this is with 16 ounces of water, mixed in a blender with 6 ice cubes. Then put it in the fridge, uncovered, for about two hours. It gets really thick and you have to eat it with a spoon. I like having it before bed or as an afternoon snack. I would definitely buy this again. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Optimum Nutrition 100% Casein, Chocolate Supreme, 2...
Strengths: High Protein. Low in carbs, fat and sugar. More filling than whey protein. Great for an afternoon or before bed snack.
Weakness: More expensive than whey
I was really surprised at the thickness of a 100% casein protein. I’ve tried other casein blends before but none were as thick and creamy as Optimum Nutrition’s 100% Casein. A lot of people can’t handle the thickness, but I really like it. It leaves you feeling fuller than the usual whey protein shake. As for taste, well let’s just say that the Chocolate Supreme flavor is one flavor that I will never get tired of. Mixing this protein takes a bit more effort however. Don’t even try using a spoon or you will end up with clumps. I’ve tried it in milk and water and both were equally good. When mixed in milk, it gets much thicker due to the added protein. I like it in water to save on calories. I usually use a hand blender to mix everything up. A shaker cup will work too, but the consistency isn’t as creamy. I am a repeat buyer of this product.
