Not worth the money or the hassle
Strengths: Functions
Weakness: Seriously limits use of an iPod
Monster seems to have cornered the market on iPod to car stereo direct connect systems. Since I knew them to be a reputable company I figured that they had a great product. I was unpleasantly surprised to find that their system does not use your multi-disc changer as an auxiliary input but rather just replaces it and acts as a 6 playlist changer. This means that your stereo now only recognizes the first 6 (or 10 depending on how many discs your stereo was able to hold). On the packaging and on the website they state that "you can have up to 10 playlists!" This made it sound as though this was an additional and desirable feature. What they don't state on the packaging and only if you dig for it on the website is that this is ALL you can have. Tech support at Monster told me that you can load all the songs you want on to these playlists EXCEPT nearly all factory car stereos can only read up to 99 songs. This meant that I can only access 594 of the 8400+ on my iPod. Additonally, if I want to find a specific song, playlist not in the first 6, album, artist, etc., I cannot---the iPod controls are completely disabled! To top it off, to find even one song in a particular playlist, you have to hit that song skip button on your stereo again and again to find the song. They claim that this is a safety feature but they do sell a dashboard mountable readout---it seems to me that it would take a great deal more reading to find, say, song number 78 than it would to grab your iPod and find it at traffic light!
Tech support at Monster was really rude to me and told me that it was not possible to do this any other way but when I did a little research online I found another company that offers a system with full control and access to your iPod and all songs contained within--and for considerably less money! I'm incredibly disappointed spent a great deal of money on components and installation and now I have to start all over again.

It depends upon what kind of car and stereo you have. I just Googled my year/make/model and ipod interface, or something like that, and found a company that makes a direct connect interface for my car specifically.
Good luck!
