GREAT ALL AROUND 'SUPER' NORMAL LENSStrengths: 11x zoom range, lightweight, compact and well-balanced at all focal legnths Weakness: some barrel distortion at 18mm, slight pincushion distortion at 200mm, could be faster This lens is as I said in the title, a great 'super' normal lens. If your shooting groups or candids or in between, the 18 to 200 focal length (27 to 300 mm equivalent in 35mm format) gives incredible range. The lens is well made and superbly finnished. It feels like a quality lens with optical quality to match. Colors are vibrant and the images are sharp. It may not be as good as the Nikkor lens but it IS over $400 less! 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Tamron 18-200mm Di III VC Lens Review
How good is Tamron’s first lens for Sony NEX cameras? This attractive, well made, nicely finished long-range zoom in Tamron’s first lens offered in the Sony E-mount for APS-C-format Sony NEX compact interchangeable-lens compact cameras. It provides an equivalent focal-length range of 27-300mm and it’s designed for mirrorless NEX cameras only-it will not work on Translucent Mirror Technology... TopAdvertisement

Good for the Price
Strengths: Compact, Internal Focusing, Zoom Lock
Weakness: Not 18-200mm (more like 18-135mm)
The first thing I noticed was that it doesn't zoom all the way out to 200mm. There is almost no difference between 135mm and 200mm. I compared the focal length between it's 200 and my Tamron 70-300's 200mm, and there was a big difference. Still worth the money as a walk around lens. Got a $60 rebate.
Have only had it a few days and I like the feel. I don't expect it to be the sharpest lens.
