Best TV in the World, 55" 8000

Strengths: Order of magnitude better picture quality than anything else, 3d effect amazing, amazing resolution, contrast, brightness, flush wall mount, redefines how we watch home theater

Weakness: None in picture. Controls could be faster, auto-motion setting and picture mode should have buttons on remote control (programmable?), Can't wait for larger screens, someday 80"...

Picture quality is jax dropping. After many years of 1080p/24 and 120Hz, the 8000 is an order of magnitude better. It also beats every picture I've seen on any TV in any store, including the $6k plasmas by far. 1080i from cable HD (and 30 year old blurays) beats any bluray from other TV's (mine and seen in stores) by far in 3d effect and picture quality, and blu-ray on the 8000 is a class ahead of that. Finally, a real window on the world effect, even from hdtv. My highest recommendation. This year's best is several times better at half the price, great time to buy. 6th Ave is the best, came in to buy a new plasma, walked out with 7000 due to much higher picture quality (much better than $6k Kuro with no 3d effect, even on Dark Knight bluray), then traded in and had 8000 1 week later for the same bargain price now offered with $1000 off. Listening to HD sound, never used TV speakers.

Prices should plummet on these since the 8000 Series...

Strengths: Samsung is making, probably the best sets out today.

Weakness: Samsung's model numbering system and the way they dump model information from their website and their support the second that a new model is released.

I saw a brief blurb the other day that Samsung had or are releasing the 9000 Series. Since then I am seeing more and more threads popping up where current users and new buyers can't find online info or that Samsung has dropped the 8000 Series from their website. Making many quite concerned if the 8xxx Series will continue to be supported. Samsung says yes, but they dropped my HL50A650 DLP (phenomenal machine) like a lead balloon the second they released their new LED models and there has been no firmware updates or any feature movement on it since contrary to them telling me that there would be.

Samsung 8000 LED 55" ROCKS

Strengths: Picture, picture, picture baseball looking real coming over home plate.

Weakness: I don't know of any.

Amazing picture is all I can say. We bought this last month and wow. This TV brings to life old black and white moview that the light seems to go around the figures. It is so close to 3D it is astonishing... We had a 52" Samsung plasma that I was worried about parting with but once this was on... it was like the plasma was 20 yrs. old. The technical perks I don't use, I just like a good picture so I cannot comment on them.

Firmware Problems With 8xxx Series-No Support

Strengths: Nice Picture

Weakness: No Support-Broken Firmware

Beware of this TV. Samsung is running away from it -discontinued it only six months after release and support now appears to be almost non-existent.
Case in point: downloaded Amazon.com video on demand widget from the "widget gallery" that Samsung/Yahoo makes available on the TV. Started the widget and it said I needed firmware update. Went to software update screen and it confirmed that new software was available. Downloaded Version T-CHE9AUSAC-1009.2.
Went back to widgets. Couldn't connect.
Went to network setup page and found all connection/setup information wiped.
Tried to re-enter manually and things began to go wrong. Tried to select "manual" and it wouldn't allow selection. Screen did allow me to enter numbers manually however. Tried network test and joy, it proclaimed success.
Went back to widgets and again couldn't connect. Went back to network set up screen and lo and behold all network set up information had been wiped again. Repeated same procedure with same results.
Auto setup of network did not function.
Assumed problem was with new version of software (firmware?). Tried to find prior version on Samsung site but nothing there!
Spent two hours on phone with Samsung "support" and the best they could do was promise to send "disk" of firmware in the mail. 7-14 biz days, naturally. Not clear that the firmware will be a correct or even an earlier version.
Absolutely clear that no one is USA support center knows anything about the networking features of this TV.
If you sell a TV for this much money and can't support it any better, you are asking for trouble.

great great tv.....wished i bought it long time...

Strengths: picture quality; light on energy; cool slim factor

Weakness: propietary wireless internet adapter needed if you want to go wireless

very cool tv. if i could, would buy another...maybe if price drops when the 9-series comes in market. the pictures come alive on screen; so amazing to watch; i especially love that it is light on energy usage....compare to my plasma of five years ago that consumes probably 4 times as much.

Samsung LED......Awesome

Strengths: This is the best picture that I have ever seen and viewed. I was going to save money by purchasing an LCD instead of the LED and glad I didn't. Everyone raves about how clear and concise of picture.

Weakness: None soo far.

As I stated in the strengths of this TV, being the newest concept with LED and 240 hz, I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting the best available and my purchase and process was handled perfectly, including delivery.

reccomend the pick your price on this item

Strengths: the picture is absolutely amazing! you feel like you are sitting inside the set. agreeably it is nearly 3D like.

Weakness: on the downside of the picture quality in certain cases the picture is too good (not a complaint on the television side) certain sets are noticeably fake, like a backdrop of the grandcanyon.

overall- most outrageous tv i have ever watched. watching anything on another television seems fuzzy. the speakers are not the best but it is tolerable and i have intension of hooking up a surround so

Samsung 55" LED

Strengths: Gorgeous color, contrast, sharpness

Weakness: slight darkening at corners

The colors are so vibrant and beautiful that you don't really notice the darkening unless someone, like my engineer husbnd, points it out to you. This tv is mesmerizing.

Samsung LED TV's

Strengths: Gives true color picture

Weakness: Needs improvement in the audio. Ports point out therefore not allowing flush wall mount.

Way over price for the market. Samsung needs to come down on their pricing. There are several other LCD's that offer exactly the same for much less. The whole idea in building over seas was to lower the price not jack it up to where it becomes cost prohibited. Check out the customer ratings? Most are 3 star or less.

The reviewer was unequivocally wrong in what he's saying. Firstly he/she is the only reviewer who went down as low as 3 stars. Secondly there are NO OTHER LCDs (liquid crystal displays)that offer exactly what this LED (light emitting diode) TV does. I have seen this TV in the stores and although I don't personally have one YET, I can definitely say this TV screen has the best picture short of reality on the planet that is sold commercially - hands down. I swear when I'm watching a Blu Ray movie I look at stuff in my living room just to compare the realness (resolution) of the TV picture. For those who cannot see one in person the most accurate discription or difference from reality I can give is this: If you have a large wall mirror in a room look at the room and look at the same image in the mirror. That's the difference between this TV and reality. There is nothing else that comes close to this. Samsung flatpanel TV's are the best commercially sold TVs in the world right now.

Samsung 3d lcd 8000

Strengths: It's 3D. Amazing technology.

Weakness: None really. Not enough 3d content out yet.

These new 3D tv's are amazing. Technology is unreal. The Samsung series 8 tv is one of the best 3d tvs out right now. It even converts 2d to 3d! Go to your local retailer and check one out!

Samsung UN55B8000

THE GOOD: Produces relatively deep black levels; mostly accurate color; very good dejudder processing; sleek styling with 1.2-inch thick panel; extensive feature set with Yahoo Widgets, network streaming, and lots of built-in content; energy-efficient. THE BAD: Expensive; less uniform screen than other LCDs; poor off-angle viewing; lower contrast in dark scenes; shiny screen can cause reflections...

Samsung UN55B8000 55 inch LED TV Review @ Tweaknews

After over a month and a half of daily use, the Samsung UN55B8000 can be summed up as a mixed bag of great and not so great characteristics. The first thing to mention and the distinguishing feature is the 1.2 inch depth profile. There is no consumer grade TV this side of perhaps an OLED display that at the time of this review is as thin as this model. The second is the color reproduction. This...
