Great HDTV replacement for 27" traditional TV

Strengths: 120 Hz great for fast moving scenes.. 37" HDTV is the same or bigger size than 27" 4.3 traditional TV on all wide-screen broadcasts.

Weakness: Costs much more than cheaper 32" HDTV but 37" HDTV prices are dropping fast. Already had the Super Bowl price drop at the beginning of the football season.

I was torn between a 32" and a 37" inch TV because I had a 27" 4:3 TV and did not want the screen to be smaller.

While a 32" TV (16:9) is the same height as a 27" TV (4:3), what I forgot is many HDTV broadcasts are "movie wide-screen" size (accomplished by letter-boxing on HDTV). "Movie wide-screen" height will be smaller on a 32" HDTV and about the same size on a 37" HDTV. So if you are replacing a 27" traditional TV, buy a 37" HDTV instead of a 32" HDTV.

Before ordering over the internet, go to a bricks and mortar store and check out the viewing size just to be sure.

Viera LCD 37" Review

Strengths: excellent picture quality, very good sound

Weakness: none

I installed the TV about 2 weeks ago and am very satisfied with the quality of the picture and the sound. This TV has a better picture than other brands that I've seen.
