Finally a game for this dynamic duo!

Strengths: Fun story.

Weakness: The overall gameplay is subpar.

While it is nice seeing Wallace and Gromit, the gameplay itself can be disappointing. In one of the levels, Wallace is supposed to follow Gromit when you complete the tasks, but Wallace would not follow. I had to save the game, shut the game system off, and restart it up again, once in the game again Wallace finally followed Gromit. Also, some tasks can be very frustrating. Some "blind" jumps must be made from time to time. One good thing, is apparently Gromit has unlimited lives! I bought this for under $10. Pay more than that and you may regret it. For a cheap platformer it is okay, don't expect more. Though, as I said, it is nice to see Wallace & Gromit in a game.

Fun for a While

Strengths: If you're a fan of Wallace & Gromit, you'll love this game.

Weakness: The camera is at times very annoying and can be the cause of many deaths.

I went into this game a casual fan of Wallace & Gromit. I've seen some of the animation before and thought it was pretty entertaining. So I had some positive thoughts going in, but it can't help some really bad camera problems as well as uninspired gameplay.

The premise of the game is that Feathers McGraw stole a bunch of animal babies and it's your job to rescue them all. You'll do this by jumping around different environments and solving puzzles for the most part. There are some enemies, but they're very easy to take care of and seem like an afterthought.

I did enjoy myself for the first level, which is the Zoo, but after that, I felt less inspired to contine the game. According to the game, I'm already 24% done with the game and I'm not sure I want to continue. The camera, while you can control it, still is a problem when it comes to all this platforming. I can't explain it, but it has a habit of not being in the right place at the right time and has been the cause of many deaths. Fortunately you have unlimited lives and can continue without restarting the level.

Overall, the game isn't that bad, save for the camera. Maybe I haven't gotten through more of the game to see what else it has to offer.

Wallace & Gromit in Project Zoo PS2

Strengths: Wallace and Gromit that you can play! Voice acting by the original cast! Creative direction from Nick Park!

Weakness: Tedious, uninspired platform gaming. Often not fun.

This is not a bad game. Neither is it a great game. If you are a fan of Wallace and Gromit, you will want to pick this up. It's worth your time if you're prepared for some frustration.

What is good is that this was a carefully considered license. It is obvious that the story, the character design, and the cutscenes all had a lot of thought put into them. The look and feel of the game perfectly fits with the Wallace and Gromit animations.

However, the game itself -- the mechanics of play, the level design, and the things you do (as apart from the things you look at) is as uninspired as the rest is polished. Imagine every platform cliche and you will see it.

The game is obnoxious at times, but is not overly hard. With persistance, you will get through. Unfortunately, some of the more tedious aspects will try your patience. The lava level, where jumping in the wrong spot assures your death, is particularly painful. And, do we *really* need a game with another mine cart level?

The control was okay, but felt less than precise for some of the jumping and acrobatics necessary. Button presses would sometimes not register and timing felt sluggish. Aiming your various contraptions was almost always a chore. Sometimes, the control would go crazy (especially on the lava level) which led to untimely deaths. Be prepared to die. A lot.

There are unlockables, and things to collect, and special challenges. But only the most devoted, or the helplessly thorough, will want to bother. I played through the game, but couldn't be bothered to go back and find all of the coins and complete all of the challenges because, to be perfectly honest, I have better things to do. Many of the harder challenges are for coins or collectibles, and the reward wasn't worth putting up with the torture.

I wish the game had more of an emphasis on puzzles and less of an emphasis on precise jumping. There's not much thought to the game -- it's usually clear what you have to do, it's just putting up with the frustration in order to do it. More often than not, the solution to a problem requires lots of jumping. If you're not careful, it will be you jumping out a nearby window.

I would have given this two stars, but the care into the presentation of Wallace and Gromit is worthy. If you're not a fan, don't bother. If you are, you should check it out. You will get some laughs and enjoyment out of it. Just take it out of your Playstation before you throw your controller in frustration.

Nice done

Strengths: Good graphics like in the movie

Weakness: Not complicated enough

This is a nice done game based on the famous Wallace and Gromit films. The quality of the graphics are really nice. Also the voice and sound are good. You play Gromit to save the captured animals. You can do jump, rotating kick, shoot the banana gun....etc to collect and attack items. This is really better than I expected (usually I at quite disappointed at movie based games...). I highly recommend to buy this game especially when the price of it is so low now!

Wallace & Gromit in Project Zoo
