NICE HI DEFINITION CAMERA FOR THE PRICE!
Strengths: IT'S A SONY. IT IS SMALL, LITE-WEIGHT, HAS A QUICK AUTO FOCUS, GREAT "FACE DETECTION", AND ALMOST NO MOVING PARTS (EXCEPT THE LENS). MOST FUNCTIONS ARE PERFORMED THROUGH THE 2.7 INCH TOUCH SCREEN.
Weakness: NO EYEPIECE VIEWFINDER - NOT MUCH OF A NEGATIVE. ALSO, THE CAMERA IS SO SMALL, IT REQUIRES SOME EFFORT TO HOLD IT STEADY EVEN WITH SHAKE REDUCTION.
I BOUGHT THIS CAMERA LAST WEEK. IT'S MY 4TH CAMCORDER AND THE ONLY ONE THAT RECORDS EXCLUSIVELY TO MEMORY CARDS. I LOVE IT!!! THE HI DEFINITION IMAGE IS SUPERB. IT HAS A GREAT AUTOFOCUS SYSTEM THAT WORKS DOWN TO MACRO RANGES. YOU CAN QUICKLY SWITCH FROM VIDEO TO CAMERA MODE, AND THE 4MP PHOTOS ARE VERY SHARP. THE FACE DETECTION FEATURE IS AWESOME IF YOU'VE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE, ESPECIALLY IN THE VIDEO MODE. IT TOOK ME A LITTLE WHILE TO ADJUST TO THE CONTROLS ON THE TOUCH SCREEN, BUT ONCE YOU GET ACCUSTOMED TO THE LAYOUT IT'S A BREEZE TO USE. THE CAMERA HAS A VERY FLEXIBLE MENU THAT LETS YOU OVERRIDE THE NUMEROUS AUTOMATIC FEATURES, INCLUDING FOCUS, LIGHTING, COLOR BALANCE, FACE DETECTION, ETC. IT HAS AN OPTIONAL "GRID" ON THE LCD FOR COMPOSING. IT ALSO HAS VARIOUS OPTIONS FOR SPOT METERING AND SPOT FOCUSING. I THINK THIS CAMERA IS WELL WORTH THE PRICE IF YOU WANT SOLID STATE RECORDING IN A SMALL PACKAGE.
THE ONLY TOUGH DECISION IS WHAT COLOR TO BUY IT IN. I LIKE THE RED.
