Good speakers at a great price, but don't expect...

Strengths: Price. Compact size makes them an easy fit in most spaces. Base sound is adequate.

Weakness: Satellite speakers have little volume if you plan to use them in a large or loud room.

I bought these speakers at a great price and for the money, I really can't complain too much. I was surprised how small they are, especially the base box. Setup was simple, as expected for a speaker system. And sound quality was adequate. The base box has a volume control on the back which is nice to get the right "mix" of base and treble. As a teacher, I thought these would make a great replacement for the speakers that came with the desktop in my classroom, but the volume just couldn’t go loud enough. Yes, I could use the software volume controls in Windows, but even so, I maxed out the volume and the speakers still weren’t as loud as the speakers that came with my desktop PC.

I did like the sound quality, even if the volume wasn't up to my needs. These speakers would be great if you used them in a quiet room, or if you were using them in a close-up listening experience.

Not very good

Strengths: Sleek design, compact size

Weakness: Very tinny sounding (too much treble), bass is muddy

I wouldn't recommend these speakers because they sound very underpowered and have a shallow sound. The subwoofer sounds very muddy. The design is very stylish, but I prefer quality sound over looks.

ALTEC 121 3-PC 10 WT Speakers

Strengths: Cheap but produce decent sound.

Weakness: The bass gets distorted if the volume goes high.

For $10, this 2.1 speakers is a great buy. The sounds are clear and the price is unbelieveable but however, the bass gets disorted if you turn the volume too high. ALTEC, you have another winner.

Strengths: Good sound quality. Control both on speaker and sub.

Weakness: Sounds is a little bit low. And control on speaker is not good.

Overall it's not too bad for this price. It's better than the latec I got before. But it's not convenient to control the sub, also I'd like two buttons on speaker instead of one: one for power and one for volume control.

Altec 121 3PC Speakers

Strengths: Stylish

Weakness: The power is too little but it's cheap, isn't?

I think this is a stylish speakers system although the total power is not good enough. However, the price of this system is nonresistant. It would be a nice choice if you just want a low price and stylish speakers system for your desktop.

ALTEC 121 3-PC 10 WT Speakers

Strengths: Sleek Design, great price, easy installation.

Weakness: Not loud enough, sounds worse when at higher volumes.

Took less than 5 minutes to set up straight out of the box. The sound is pretty decent, considering its low wattage (2W @ 10% per Satellite, 4W @ 10% Subwoofer). Great for kids' computers or someone who's on a budget and sound quality isn't a top priority.

ALTEC 121 3-PC 10 WT speakers

Strengths: Size - Price - Easy to install

I bought these speakers for $10. They are a great investment for the price. Don't expect to fill your entire house with the sound but it is more than adequate for a room. They look good and are compact. I use them a lot for video conferencing (with MSN messenger) and they work great.
I definetely recommend them.

Great speakers considering price!!

Strengths: Gets the job done. Great design.

Weakness: None so far.

I got these speakers for about $10 shipped and love them. While they produce great sound, but don't expect these babies to sound as good as a home theater system. I especially love how the speaker itself has a headphone jack on them; now I don't have to search the back of my case in order to switch from speakers to headphones.

Great Value

Strengths: Good quality for the price, good size, all black

Weakness: Sound at louder volume

Picked these speakers up for my daughter. Just needed something to replace some older Altec speakers that were beige, wanted speakers that were black to match her new Dell. These are great for the price($10). Wasn't expecting much but have been suprised of the value for the price.

Great Speakers For the price.

Strengths: Price, Headphone Jack, extra RCA cable included, ideal for apartment (not loud but produce clean sound)

Weakness: Bass, Headphone jack dies if the speakers are turned off

I bought these speakers for $10 and I must say they are very good. For this price I was surprised I got a subwoofer.
It's not the best one but this is what you get for the money.
This unit also comes with all cables needed to attach it to your PC. It also comes with RCA converter cable.
The sound they produce is clean and these speakers are fine for apartment use. If you live in a house I would suggest get some bigger ones.

I bought these speakers for my dell desktop, it is smaller than I expected but I really like the sleek design. It took 5 minute to set it up and the sound quality is good when listening to radio/music while I am working on the computer. Overall, I am happy with it.

Strengths: Very cheap, simple to use, suitable for my bedroom

I bought this set of speakers for $9.99 (with a $5 rebate). I use them for my laptop in my bedroom and so far they've been great. Do not expect to be able to blast your music or throw parties with these. These are only good for a small space, like a bedroom or office. But for the price I paid, I really have no complaints.

Surprisingly good sound for the $$$

Strengths: decent sound at normal listening levels much better than most other speakers at this price

Weakness: weak low-to-mids at high volume

I picked these up for $10 (inc shipping), so wasn't
expecting too much. These tiny speakers are surprisingly
good, even compared to others at 3x that price point.

To give you an idea where I'm coming from, I've got
Paradigm reference studio speakers driven by a Denon 3802
as my living room home theater, a set of Sennheiser 580
headphones for listening to music, and a creative
i3300 (2.1) hooked up to my computer.

Just for kicks, I jury-rigged these to a TV tuner +
old monitor to serve as a bedroom TV in a 12' x 20' room,
and the 10W limitation really shows... these produce
passable quality sound at roughly conversation-level
volume when heard from half a room away.
When pushed louder, the low-to-mids are noticably
weaker than the upper ranges, so the overall sound
lacks fullness. That's pretty much expected for speakers
this size.

In a normal 2.1 desktop computer setting in my 12'x12' home
office, these still sound a bit tiny out-of-the-box.
I've tweaked my soundcard equalizer to balance out the sound
so these now sound pretty good for mp3s. At normal
listening levels, these are about on par with the i3300's
I bought at 5x the price, though at louder levels these
speakers tend to fall apart.

If you're looking for big sound for game sound effects
this is probably not for you, but if you need decent
sounding speakers for your computer on the cheap,
these are well worth the $10.

Good inexpensive starter set of speakers

Strengths: inexpensive, seperate subwoofer for more bass

Weakness: quality of starter set - not recommended at high volumes

The set was very inexpensive and sounds much better that other sets in the same price range. It would be unfair to compare the speakers to much more expensive ones.

Seperate subwoofer allows more bass. Sound is reasonable at nominal levels. Speakers provide Left/Right seperation.

Strengths: Cheap but good looking and produce decent sound

For $10, you can't beat the price. And it's very good looking. I just wanted any speakers since I bought a new computer without speakers. It turned out they exceeded my expectation. I like these.

Strengths: compact and descent sound for 10$

Weakness: Need mpre power i guess

This speaker look compact and stylish. For the price of 10$ I dont want to ask more. This is good for kids. I dont think it good for gaming. It's a bargian at this price. I dont recommend you pay more than 10$ for it.

Good desktop speakers

Strengths: Compact and low cost.

Weakness: None at $10 shipped.

I purchased the ALTEC 121 for my daughter to use as desktop speakers so she can listen to music from her MP3 player. The sound is ok considering the low cost and the build seems to be solid. I would recommend them for "easy listening" use and consider it a good buy.

good cheap speakers that dont take up too much space (smaller in real life than picture would suggest) if you are realistic about the performance in this price range you should be happy with these best used for computing and light audio or gaming duty where best sound quality is NOT a must but still not to shabby of speakers (review from a wanna be audiophile).

O.K. speakers for the right price

I would not purchase these for the normal retail price of around $20. I was able to get these for $9.99 with shipping and they are going to be used with my laptop; for that price and their use they are perfect. If looking for a nice set for your desktop I would spend more money and get a better system.

Altec Lansing 121 review

Strengths: Affordable price.

Weakness: Not so good sound quality.

I paid $9.99 for this speaker. Yes, Price is very cheap. However, there is no treble, and so so base.
Treble is muddy, and bass is not impressive.
$9.99 Price is the right price for this item.
If you need just basic speaker with affordable price, go ahead buy them.

Great 2.1 for a small price

Strengths: 2.1 Sound. 1 Subwoofer with controls. 2 Satelilites. AV to single audio jack. console compatiablity. Headphone input located on 1 Satelilite.

Weakness: Low wattage (10 watts) and extreme crackling sound if pushed too loud.

I purchased these speakers for my desktop. I was pleasantly surprised that the subwoofer was rather small and light. It also came with A/V (red/white) (female) to single audio (female) connector. This allows optional connection to use these same speakers for my playstation, video camera, xbox, etc.

Overall, I am satisfied with these speakers for very practical sound. This won't blow you away but they are an ease to set up and carry a great company name. Great set of speakers for personal use but not for a party.

Good bang for the bucks

Strengths: Good sound quality for low and medium volume settings. very inexspensive.

Weakness: Poor sound quality on high volume settings.

I use it with a laptop when I am working home late at night. Now I cant have a descent sound and still be quiet enough to not to bother sleeping kids.

Weakness: High Volume can't keep the Sound Quality,No Wall Mount Option

This is very good choice of speakers for using with Desktop PCs. Sound is very crisp and looks good if you got black color LCD or Display.

Only weekness I saw at High Volume can't keep the Sound Quality and there is no Wall Mount Option.

Altec 121 3pc speakers

Strengths: Quality sound and it came in the color and size i liked.

Weakness: No sub and tweeter controls on the speakers as well.

Purchased other item from this company before, Overall it's a great price for this setup from Altec Lansing! Too bad it gives analog instead of digital output. I would recommend this still.

A great buy for the price. It's better than the montone speakers I had before. It's kind of hard to get to the subwoofer controls but the speaker button is good for power and volume control. Would have been kind of nice to have a remote. But then I don't think I could have found something for such a great price
