Strengths: They work very well when they work.

Weakness: Some DVD's will not play in DVD players.

I have had some issues with DVD players not reading the media. I recorded a few movies and 3 different players from Sony, Samsung, and a third party were unable to play some of the DVD's. Some worked and some didn't. I then switched back to 4 speed media and had no problems. I am going to assume that the ink they use for the 16 speed is difficult for some lasers to pick up. I should have done more research on the issues with the newer high speed media. I have a newer Plextor Burner and will see if DVD's written with it are more reliable. Used an HP burner before. That might be the issue.

Strengths: Top of the line and comes with the best software.

I'm very happy with this burner. It came with power producer which is the easiest to use for ripping and many other tasks. I haven't used the lightscribe technology yet cause the discs are too expensive and aren't very common yet but I have used the double layer and it wasn't too terribly slow in fact it burns in double layer faster than alot of burners burn on regular discs.
