Apple PowerBook Notebook

Strengths: Form & Function. It's beautiful, fast, truely portable and with OS X and the bundled iLife apps it's also a great bargain.

Weakness: It runs hot and battery life is not what I would like it to be.

The 12" G4 PowerBook is simply the best laptop I have owned and this is my 13th laptop! I loved my Titanium PowerBook but this one feels more rugged, has a great keyboard and combined with OS X and the superior quality of all Apple products it precisely answers my mobile computing needs. Besides the fabulous look of the brushed aluminum the form factor is exactly what I want for a portable computer. In fact I was looking at the 17" PowerBook but I ended up buying the 12" PB and a 1GHz 17" iMac instead and the cost difference was only a few hundred dollars.

powerbook g4

Strengths: sleek, reliable

Weakness: os x bugs

i've had this laptop for several years now and it is still very useful. it is not as fast as apple's later offerings anymore, but it is still perfectly adequate for word processing, internet and email.
the main problem is of course the parallelization in os x - the spinning beach ball happens quite often (instead of fixing the os, apple just started using more cores in their processors, so when the multitasking stalls, there's another core to be functional)
