VTech 5.8GHZ ACC Handset for VT5831 CWCID Spkr Phone...

Strengths: Attractive, easy to hold between head & shoulder, clear display & strong signal.

Weakness: Tacky VTECH logo on antenna stem.

Solid performer. Speaker phone option comes in handy for group talks & it actually works. Easy to hold & place between head & shoulder is a good thing. Several phones I observed did not have this option. Base unit can be separated so in the bedroom it can go on one side & wife can access the phone on the other. It is nice & means less phones in the house I have to purchase. Most like this have the phone attached.

VTech 5.8GHZ ACC Handset for VT5831 CWCID Spkr Phone...

Strengths: Easy to use.

Weakness: None

Did not buy enough additional hand sets with the original purchase. Had to search for the additional handsets. I wonder if this is a discontinued model. I like this model.

VTech 5.8GHZ ACC Handset for VT5831 CWCID Spkr Phone...

Strengths: Speakerphone, programming options, clock display, hold, parks anywhere there is an outlet (no need for phone jack), multiple ring options

Weakness: With more options, comes more complications.

We bought the base phone with cordless phone, then bought another one, since several can connect to the base. No need for telephone line, we can have it in a central or strategic place charging as we like. Loud ring with different ring choices, nice options. Don't like how when you page phone from base, you can't make a call from satellite phone when you find it. The intercom page ties up the line and I have to go back to the base and turn it off intercom. (Maybe that's user error?!) Great features for the price and flexibility. I use the speakerphone option ALL the time.

VTech 5.8GHZ ACC Handset for VT5831 CWCID Spkr Phone...

Strengths: Reception generally seems good. These models are reasonably feature-complete phone sets.

Weakness: Prior revisions of this model have exhibited control button degradation over time (not affecting the dialing pad.) This line also appears to be end-of-lifed.

This series of expandable phone sets seems to exhibit reasonable quality and range within a typical household setting. The expandability is a particularly useful feature when, for example, moving to a larger residence.

It supports the standard features one might expect in a phone nowadays, particularly with caller ID, call waiting caller ID, and message waiting indicators on each handset. The downside to this approach is that different phones may show varying numbers of missed calls, depending upon when last they were checked.

It would be recommended to buy a spare battery for the base station, which can be kept charged either for use in a handset or as a base station power backup for making phone calls during power outages.

Speakersphone quality is reasonable, although there are probably better out there.

The model line appears to be end-of-lifed. So those with compatible hardware wanting expansion handsets should probably buy them very soon.

VTech 5.8GHZ ACC Handset for VT5831 CWCID Spkr Phone...

Strengths: Easy programming and very clear.

Weakness: None that I can see.

Great addition to the base V tech phone. I bought 3 of them and placed them strategically throughout the house. It has all the features of much more expensive phones. Highly reccomend.

Strengths: Multiple handsets. Good range. Comfortable shape fits nicely in hand. Attractive appearance.

Weakness: Don't like the ringer tones.

Great for house with many rooms that do not have phone jacks. Speakerphone useful. Like that is has both digital and traditional round face clock.
