Excellent buyStrengths: Good picture quality, nice color spectrum, 3 HDMI inputs, Anti reflective filter Weakness: Could not connect with computer Its a great penny. The picture and sound quality is excellent. The anti reflective screen is great unlike many TV's in the market today. We use my laptop DVD player to watch movies which is not possible with this TV. You need to buy 85U or greater version to connect it to your laptop. If you are planning to buy panasonic plasma it would be helpful to go to panasonic website (www.panasonic.com) and compare the TV's first as most of the retailers donot contain full description. Overall its an excellent value for your money. We got it from BB and it came with manufacturer warranty. 75% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

very niceStrengths: picture quality, design, fit/size Weakness: could have smaller borders and a better remote i picket up this tv on a price mistake from sears, and i have to say it is great. it has a great picture and looks awesome. i havent run the spects dvd on it to tune it but i did notice that it does produce a lot of heat and there are 3 fans on the back. it also eats a lot of electricity rated at 690 watts. 56% of readers found this review helpful. Best PictureStrengths: Displays all my signals (XBOX360, PANASONIC BMP-30, DIRECT TV HDDVR, KENWOOD MUTI-DISC PLAYER)perfectly through my Denon AV-988. Weakness: None at all, I researched this set before I bought it The purchase of the Panasonic PH-50PZ80U went perfectly online. I however never received a tracking number. I did get a delivery call to set up delivery for 5-days later. This was fine; I took half the day off from work for a 12-4pm delivery only to get a call at 1pm that my delivery would have to be rescheduled. So we rescheduled for the next day (my only day off) for 10-1pm only to get one cal at 1:30 pm to say the driver was 20 minutes away. I called at 2:30pm and was told he was in the area and at 4:30pm I got a call he would be there ASAP, time unknown. After 4 hours of lost pay ($117.85) and a wasted day off, I installed my TV and it is a great product. I never received an email for my trouble and the TV became $50 cheaper before I took delivery...that’s about it. I do love the set though great product, but next time I will lower my expectations on delivery with non-union shipping. 20% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Panasonic TH-50PZ80UStrengths: Easy to set up. Good Remote. Easy to use. Great picture. SD card slot for easy digital picture viewing. IMHO a more natural picture than an LCD. Anti reflective coating on the screen. Weakness: Like any plasma is less efficient than an LCD. Uses about 200 watts per hour. Over the life of the product, higer cost of ownership than an LCD. Weak speakers. Bought this unit from 6th avenue. Excellent color. Anti reflective coating on the screen reduces glare in a bright room. Good 1080 upscale from DVD player, looks almost as nice as PS3 BD output. Excellent picture quality, and feature mix at a value price point. My neighbors love this set and have positive comments about it. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Excellent Plasma Choice!!!
Strengths: Excellent picture clarity from anywhere in the room. Quick color selections like Game, Vivid, Custom, etc.
Weakness: None so far
We looked at and compared many HDTV's before going with the Panasonic plasma. We compared LCD vs. Plasma and decided the plasma was the best way to go for us. The lives of these new plasmas have increased greatly from where they use to be.
We have a den that has a couch 10' - 15' away from the corner TV area. We originally bought the 46" version of this plasma but after price shopping found the 50" for the same price plus we didn't have to pay shipping or tax. We ordered this on a Sunday and received it via the White Glove service 10 days later. We returned the 46" which we had purchased locally with no problems since we only had it for 2 weeks. The 46" had an excellent picture as well and we were very pleased with it. We just decided for the same price to go with the larger. The local company we purchased the 46" does not price match most online companies.
The glare some people refer to does not show up on either of these plasmas. This is not a problem at all. We do not have it in a bright bright room but there are still windows on the side of the room that the TV is placed on. There isn't any glare from our room lights either. Also, you can see the TV with excellent clarity no matter where you are sitting in the room. We have some friends that have seen our new TV and they say that they have to be directly in front of theirs (not a plasma) in order to have all the colors and clarity. Not a problem here at all. In fact, they wish they had ours. Even when a channel is not broadcasting in HD, the picture is still good. On the remote, you sometimes have to adjust the format to change the size of the picture whether it's a regular channel or HD. No big deal.
Another great feature is the different modes you can set each of your components to view. There is a Standard, Cinema, Game, Vivid and Custom. We prefer Game, Vivid and Custom which you set up your own brightness, tints, sharpness, etc. There are 3 total HDMI connections. Two connections are located in the back in which we hooked up our XBox 360 and the digital cable box. The other connection is located in the front and we hooked up a Sony Up Convert DVD player. All of these provide an excellent picture. We purchased the cables from Monoprice and they worked as well as the high dollar Monster cables we originally purchased and have now returned as well. We also purchased Wii cables for a HDTV from Monoprice that improves the picture on the Wii.
All in all, we are extremely happy with the Panasonic plasma HDTV's. Whether you choose the 46" or 50", either one is an excellent choice. Make your decision on what size will fit the area you have. We are glad we purchased the 50", especially for the price. The 50" price is fluctuating between $1550 and $2399 which is a pretty big difference. Be sure you look at return policies if you happen to order somewhere and it ends up being defective and you need to return. Some places don't accept returns on TV's over so many inches, etc. Others may have a restocking fee, etc.
We would definitely recommend this HDTV plasma!

Seeing the picture clearly (i.e. no changes in contrast, color, etc.) from any angle is an important reason you only get the true HD 3-D "window effect" from plasmas on high quality HD shows. the slight changes from different angles in LCD's flattens them right out in your perceptions -- you cannot get "into" them as well. Other reasons LCD's look flat is the lack of high contrast and detailed blacks, backlighting that is from one source / too uniform, and lack of accurate color reproduction. All these things plasma is the best at. LCD only has slightly higher brightness, and higher resolution pixels -- both of which are not that big a deal, especially since plasmas have caught up with LCD's in the resolution department at 1080. Higher than that doesn't really matter for HD. LCD is a computer technology -- not good for TV's really...
