HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 2110 All-in-One Printer

Strengths: ?????

Weakness: hopefully it's just this machine

I've always been happy with HP products. I'm hoping I just got a bad machine. Printing one page (B&W) took 1 1/2 hrs. Copying took over 10 min. I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, what settings needed adjusting, etc. I rate the service technitian at HP's 800# as five star. After running through some checks, he told me it was the machine. It wasn't powering up properly. I'm taking the machine back (I could send it to HP for free, but the store I purchased it from does exchanges). Because of HP's reputation and my personal experience, I'm getting a new 2110 and trying it again. I'll let you know how this goes.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 2110 All-in-One Printer

Strengths: Easy set up and instalation. copied photos look exactly like the original.

Weakness: none so far

I had another printer, a well known brand. Nothing but a headache. This printer was set up and installed in 5 mins.. Text and color comes out great. Not too expensive either. I would recommend this printer to anyone who wants an all in one that works great. Pretty fast and not too loud.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 2110 All-in-One Printer

Strengths: Clear copies even when enlarged.

Weakness: Small ink cartridges. Hard to see liquid crystal window.

I purchased a reconditioned machine and it seems to work just fine for my use. I have not used all the features so cannot comment on them. The copies are clean and clear and the enlargements I made of some photos came out quite good. Purchased machine primarily as a copier and it meets my needs just fine. This is not a high quality machine but if you only need basic printing it is fairly fast and produces good copies.

Great Printer/Scanner

Strengths: Easy to use and have had this for 2 years without problems!

Weakness: When printing photos, you need to only have one sheet in feeder or it won't pick up. Tried other brands of paper and had the same problem. One at a time ain't bad though

The best printer I've ever had!I have used HP 4l,6P,5l,1200, ePSON c-80 (really a pretty good printer). I would recommend it to anyone. I bought mine refurb. and it was like new. High quality photos too.

I purchased my PSC 2110 about 2 years ago. I loved it until this summer. Couldn't clear a paper jam for a week. Had to get HP support. . . . then the black cartridge had a problem. . . . I ended up braking a part behind the cartridge. . . $53 later to replace the part from a local guy who happened to have a PSC he could ravage. . .HP doesn't sell parts. Okay so I'm printing for one week. Now it says "printer error", "remove and check black cartridge". . I put in a new one. . . same thing. I'm at my wits end and very unhappy with HP. I'm looking at an Epson my old one lasted 8 years.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 2110 All-in-One Printer

Strengths: Easy installation,works as advertised

Weakness: None

To say I'm not an expert would be an understatement.I've seen the results of other all-in-ones,I feel this one preforms beautifully. No trouble what so ever.If you do have questions,HP
has great support.I took a photo of a restored narrow gauge boxcar in my backyard, came in and printed it on regular ink jet paper, full page, you can clearly read even the smallest printing. The printing I'am talking about is a small sign next to the door, clear as a bell.If you need an all in one, have a limited budget,I feel this may be the one for you.I like it!

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 2110 All-in-One Printer

Strengths: beautiful color, perfect pictures and copies, a great all-in-one. Sets up in under five minutes - EASY. Fairly quiet.

Weakness: None so far.

I had a nightmare with the Epson CX5200 - the first one was defective and the second crashed my brand new eMac. When I called Apple for help restoring my eMac and uninstalling the stupid Epson software, the tech recommended this all-in-one. I have to say I agree. This beauty installed in five minutes, just put in the disc and click. It was done. Within ten minutes I had scanned, cropped and printed an eight by ten of my son. It came out beautifully. I am very pleased with this printer. Of course, I'm pleased with anything that does what I want it to the first time I tell it to.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 2110 All-in-One Printer

Strengths: Good photo print.

Weakness: Very Bad software, If you have a window 98 on ur PC. but It's installed fine in window 2000 or XP.

If you have a window 98 on your pc, prepare to work on your installed software, My pc encounter script error and HP director won't work. Try HP support but no help.
I 've installed in window 2000 on other PC and software work fine. So it's all depending on your operating system.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 2110 All-in-One Printer

Strengths: prints quick

Weakness: poor scans, crappy software, not really 48-bit*

OS X: NO 48-BIT!
I have a G4 running OS X 10.2.5
Scan Quality: Crappy. Alright, it's OK if you want to post the files on a website, or email them. But that's it. All scans had a jpeg-esque fuzziness at all color edges (when I scanned as a TIFF or directly into Photoshop). Even at high dpi, such as 2400x2400, the distortion was still visible. Only by down-sampling those high dpi images to about 600dpi would it look descent, but then I should have bought a super-cheap 600dpi scanner! And, despite HP's lack of disclosing this information, the scanner is NOT CAPABLE OF 48-BIT SCANS ON A MAC! Even if you have Photoshop! I didn't see this statement ANYWHERE except on the actual product box. Not on their website or anyone else's. Not even in the User's manual. Only 24-bit scanning. And the OCR software is useless. Basically got gibberish from a page of clean text.
Printing: Was decent, and fast (compared to my old one anyway).
Software: Two words sum it up: Bloaded, and Crappy. First I installed the software off the CD. It worked fine at first, although very cumbersome to get around in. There were about a dozen different applications for different purposes. Several times, my psc2110 froze up when I was trying to change the default scanner settings through the software. I had to turn off the psc2110, and restart my computer each time. I downloaded the updated software from HP's website. It was a 45MB file (I hope you have broadband!) and it didn't fix any of my problems. What does it need 45MB for??? There were dozens of commands referenced in the users manual that weren't available on the Mac version... although the users manual wasn't even helpful enough to say that.

WinXP - Crappy, bloated software, & *no 48-bit w/out Photoshop!
HP only lists it in some of their specs, but the scanner only scans at 48-bit if you have an external application that can handle 48-bit scans (such as Photoshop). HP claims that software that can handle 48-bit color is too expensive to include with the scanner. If you do have Photoshop, and you turn on 48-bit color processing, you'd better be prepared to wait. It made the image preview time go from a few seconds to a minute or two. And that's just the preview - not even the final scan! If you scan in regular color depth (24-bit), the scans are pretty low quality, with a jpeg-esque fuzziness at all the color edges - and that's scanning as a TIFF. The OCR is useless - I could type it faster than it would take to fix all the problems!

Software is really, really bloated. I downloaded the update from the HP website- it was 164MB! Yes, I typed that correctly. One-Hundred & Sixty-Four Megabytes! And if you ask me, it wasn't worth 16k.
