Wonderful and Really Small Mac!

Strengths: Very easy to use(I had never used any Mac machine before). It could connect very well to my previous peripherals. Fast and quiet enough!!!

Weakness: A little bit expensive. also there is only one memory slot.

I would like to recommend it to all the new Mac fans. I am a new fan but have no problem using it at all. It is amazing especially for the GUI.

Apple Mac mini Desktop Computer - 1.42 GHz

Strengths: Small size, Fast, tons of software, MAC OS X, NO viruses.

Weakness: Video card, 1 ram slot.

By far the most conumer friendly Macintosh out there. This computer is great for the everyday user that just wants to be able to check there email and surf the internet. The wireless connectivity is flawless. Setup is a breeze. I was surfing the internet after the first 3 minutes it came out the box.
This computer is great for anyone who just wants to get away from the disaster that Windows based PC's are running into. If your tired of Viruses and stop errors. Get a Mac Mini.

Very Quiet & Slow

Strengths: Easy to understand GUI with lots of functionality

Weakness: Very Laggy GUI, discusting MM-performance for that price

I was very excited to get that sexy small thing.
First disapointment was to see the single DV-I out interface. NO S-VHS out or Coax-Out for using that quiet piece as a MM-Console.
And no VGA out (for my huge CRT Monitor f.ex.). So I had the choice:
Buy a LCD with DV-I or give the Mini back.

After working around with OS X ripping some songs and some Movies, i have to realize, that this machine is only a 'nice to have'. For a workhorse, it lacks too much power.

Better keeping the money to buy me a G5, then....
Sorry, but truth is truth.

mac mini

Strengths: small form factor extremely quiet

Weakness: OS X lacks parallelization, expensive camera

The greatest thing about this computer is how small and quiet it is. The fan turns on probaly for a minute once every two weeks. The OS X has the best userinterface, but unfortunately the underlying base is quite poorly implemented. This thing freezes regularily w/ a spinning beach-ball. This seems to be caused from trying to access slow devices (CDROM, network). The worse is that OS X tries to check these devices every now and then even if I'm not using it.

Mac mini/1.42GHz

The Mac mini won’t appeal to computer users looking for a lot of raw processing power. But it’s a stellar bargain if you want a tiny machine for performing basic tasks—even with its skimpy amount of preinstalled RAM. And it’s especially appealing to users who already have their own monitor, input devices, and peripherals.
