Very Good Camcorder and Camera for the Price

Strengths: Compact, 3 modes for video (HD, DVD, Web), 3 modes for still pictures (3MP, 5MP, 8MP), nice LED screen, good quality video and photos, recharges with AC adapter or through USB, has remote control

Weakness: no light for video, no image stabilization, camera has a delay from button press to picture taking which makes it difficult to shoot action shots or fidgety kids or pets

I got this camera from Circuit City bundled with a tripod and camera case for $40 less than the sale price for the camera alone during the holidays. I have used the video modes and the camera modes and they are all excellent. I especially like being able to play back the 720p HD video on my HDTV. The camera is compact, easy to use and download videos and images, and has a nice, simple menu screen. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to take and download videos or photos quickly and easily. This records to 6 MB internal memory or on a SD card up to 8 GB. I couldn't pass up the deal and when I got the camcorder/camera and tried it out, I was definitely pleased with the operation.

A-HD Camcorder

Strengths: Price, Image Resolution, iMovie Friendly

Weakness: Sound Pickup, Small Internal Memory, Limited Zoom

This camera was purchased to replace a Flip Video camera. Both cameras cost about the same, the A-HD has been a superior video camera. A memory card is a must since the A-HD has little internal memory. The Video quality is wonderful, but camera is too sensitive to loud sounds. I tried to record my son's band performance, but sound recording was completely unusable. The video output format is easily usable by iMovie.

Aiptek High Definition Camcorder

Strengths: Compact size, Excellent video capture, Great still pictures as well.

Weakness: Tripod needed due to lack of image stabilization, No light source

This is a great product for outdoor video and still photography. Capability to record in high definition is a plus and for the cost, it is a huge bargain. The unit doesn't have image stabilization and so needs a tripod for proper video recording. Lack of light source limits its use for indoor purposes. Uses SDHC and standard SD cards.

Aiptek A-HD 720p | Silver

The Aiptek A-HD V5V is a hybrid video and still camera and is one of the cheapest devices that records HD video at a 720p resolution. This camera costs even less than the already value-priced Aiptek Go-HD. To achieve the lower price with the A-HD Aiptek replaced the lense capable of optical zoom with a plastic lens that limits the camera to digital zoom. Footage can be recorded to an SD card in a...
