OmniMount Center Channel Speaker Shelf

Strengths: Well built and well finished

Weakness: The quality of the carton package is poor. Instructions are poorly written.

An excellent product to begin your Home Theater and to position with precision your center channel on top of your High Def CRT TV. The quality of the steel is high and the finishing of the black shelf of good quality. Micrometric inclination of the shelf to focus the tweeter of the center channel toward the listening position is possible.

The instructions are not very useful, but overall the set-up is easy and does not require too much time. A good bargain.

Fantastic shelving unit for sloped-back televisions!

Strengths: Sturdy metal design, intelligent black styling that matches most big-screen TVs, very easy to install and tweak to be perfectly level.

Weakness: Holes for mountain legs not always in the ideal position, but grid-like holes throughout plate are easy to utilize for leg mounting locations with no problems.

Got two of the shelving units for my new 57" widescreen TV, set them both up side-by-side and they're extremely sturdy. They fit in very well with the TV and don't really look awkward at all. I would highly recommend this shelf to anybody who needs the shelf space for their TV. I reviewed several other options and nothing compared to the quality of these shelves. Right now I've got the central channel speaker and two water-filled collectible decanters and they're as sturdy as can be. The images I've included aren't great quality, I'm no photographer but you can get a sense of how sturdy the shelves are.

Problem Solved !!

Strengths: The only option I could find to do what I needed done. And it does it perfectly.

Weakness: None. Unless your center channel weighs much more than 30lbs.

I needed a place to put my 20lb center channel speaker in my recently upgraded Home Theater system that now includes a 61" JVC HD-TV (HD61-FN97). The top of the TV is only 2-3" wide, and the 2 shelves below the TV were already filled with other components.

This shelf solved my problem by now allowing me to place the speaker on top of the TV. Shelf seems sturdy enough, so no fear of speaker crashing to the ground.

Shelf is available in Black and Platinum.

Nice buy!

Strengths: Sturdy construction.

Weakness: Cannot be used with flat panel TVs

I needed somewhere to mount the center channel speaker for my new 56" Samsung DLP TV. The top of the TV was:
a) too narrow (only an inch or two), and,
b) inclined slightly forward

Hence, placing the speaker on top of the TV was out of the question. The only options seemed to be to place the speaker on the TV stand shelf or to mount it on the wall behind the TV.

The first option was out of the question, because I needed that space for my components. The second option wouldn't work because the speaker would then be too far behind the TV (i.e., there was a possibility of sound being blocked). Luckily, I came across the CCH1B, which was option #3, which worked perfectly for me.

Putting it together took about 10 minutes. The instructions were pretty clear. The only difference was that the instructions suggested using position 1 (front) for mounting the rear legs for a DLP TV, but I wound up using position 2 (rear). The rear legs are adjustable up to about 11", and I needed about 10", so it was adequate for me.

The shelf is perforated so that there is adequate ventilation for your speaker. The shelf is sturdy enough that it can support components other than speakers- e.g., a cable/satellite box or a dvd player. Just make sure that the component isn't heavier than 30 lbs. I have read elsewhere of someone who placed a component which exceeded the rating of the shelf, and the whole thing collapsed. Also make sure to place the component to the very front of the shelf.
The shelf also comes with rubber pads for the front tabs and the rear legs, so you can avoid any metal contacting (and possibly scratching) your TV set.

All in all a good buy that I would recommend for anyone.

OmniMount Center Channel Speaker Shelf

Strengths: Well constructed.

Weakness: Limited adjustability

I purchased this to use with a Panasonic plasma. It is well-made and well-constructed. There was no mention before I purchased the unit that it requires the TV cabinet to be at least 8.5 inches deep. The back legs only extend straight down and cannot be angled forward to fit a thinner cabinet so this was unusable for me. Keep your TV dimensions in mind before buying.

OmniMount Center Channel Speaker Shelf

Strengths: Solid construction, Nice Finish

Weakness: Harder to assemble than it has to be; Two pegs in the front necessary to secure the shelf to a DLP Television are silver finish and longer than they need to be. UPDATE: Legs Break!

I did quite a bit of online research when looking for a speaker shelf to attach to my 55" Samsung DLP and the OmniMount shelf appeared to be the way to go. Now that I have it, it's not a bad shelf, but I think I'd just build one myself if I had to do it again.

The first issue I had with the shelf is that Omnimount is stingy with the parts making it necessary to swap two different legs with one set of feet when trying to size the shelf for your TV. Not a major inconvenience, just an unnecessary hassle.

My real issue with the shelf is that, as you can see in the stock photo, it has two pegs at the front used to secure it to the front of the television. These two pegs are at least an inch long and extend onto the screen on my Samsung. I am sure most modern televisions would have the same issue. I am going to build my own pegs to replace the packaged ones.

Overall, not a bad shelf considering the price, just not what I was expecting.

UPDATE: After setting up the shelf and placing an Infiniti center channel speaker that certainly weighs less than 10 pounds on the shelf, the legs broke after less than a week. I called Omnimount and they refused to refund my money but did send new legs. Their firmness in refusing to refund my money leads me to believe this is not an uncommon occurrence.

Good Product

Strengths: Holds the weight well

Weakness: May not be big enough for certain speakers

I bought this shelf so I could put my Infinity C250 center channel speaker on top of my Sony 60" projection LCD. The shelf holds the weight of the speaker very well. I did want to get the C360 which weighs about 30 pounds but I couldn't find a shelf big enough for it. It would have been nice if they make a model that is wider and can hold more weight. I don't know, may be they do and I just missed it. This is the right solution if you need to put something on top of a TV that does not have a flat top or enough surface area.

Nice center channel shelf

Strengths: lightweight, 2 different colors, simple to install

Weakness: The front 2 pegs that hang down in front of the TV are a little aesthetically obtrusive.

In general this is a good, if not maybe a tad expensive little shelf for center channel speakers and any other component that one might want to put on top of a TV. This is particularly true for alot of the new TV's that are very thin or have less-than-horizontal surfaces on the top edge of the TV. The only real bummer is that the two pegs in the front of the shelf have to hang down over the front of your TV which, to me, was an aesthetic consideration.

OmniMount Center Channel Speaker Shelf

Strengths: Solid design. Excellent quality

Weakness: None

I bought this shelf to mount my cable box over my 50" Samsung DLP HDTV. It is the only product I could find that solved my space problem, short of trying to build something myself. Easy to install, works great for my purpose.
