HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 950

Strengths: With the new driver CD, this printer does everything I wanted to do just the way I want to do it. I am scanning photos, using OCR, printing beautiful pageds, and the copier is color.

Weakness: I have a DMA conflict (think) when I try to use on USB 2.0 for faster scanning. The conflict knocs me off of MSN (though not other services).

The HP support website contains terrific documentation. The XP CD I requested there came priority mail for free. I like the software "center" concept. I will never utilize all of the features. So far, I have not run into a single problem except for some kind of DMA thing and hopefully that will get fixed down the line. It doesn't affect my work since I have many ways to do the same things and simply hooked things up differently. I am not prepared to say it is the printer; I have a lot of stuff on my computer and who knows where it is really coming from.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 950

Strengths: Good quality printing, compact size, NEW software supports XP OK

Weakness: No sheet feed or double side printing

HP took quite a while to update the drivers but it works well now and I like having only one device that can do several things. Using it like a copier is handy and creating proof sheets from a memory card is pretty neat.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 950

Strengths: ink cartridges easy to install, two trays of paper, good scanning quality

Weakness: POOR DRIVERS,too expensive,ink supply costs a fortune(50€)

HP is uncapable of writing good universal drivers for Windows
this product does not work correctly with Windows Millennium
you cannot scan directly into your programs when no software involved (though HP promised this fact)
the software does not recognize your Email programs !!

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 950

Strengths: It will waste huge amounts of your time, and at the end will still not work !

Weakness: HP Inability to write operating drivers

Total Frustration !
After Multiple technical support calls, and hours of wasted time - HP show their inability to code Working software.
Only works on Win 2000 Professional, but even using Pro, My CPU goes to 100% utilisation when trying to scan - HP told me to:
1) install Service pack 2, which I did,
2) increase my Virtual mem , which I did
3) Un-install my ant-virus software - which I did
4) try on another PC - exact same result

So I will be spending my cash and not my time on a working solution from another company.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 950

Strengths: Never worked

Weakness: It looks pretty but does not work with certain versions of windows. HP fails to inform the consumer of this fact before you waste your time and money on the 950.

If a printer can be someones worst nightmare, this printer takes that rating. I purchased the HP 950 for $400 and tried to hook it up to my compac computer and kept getting multiple error messages. After 4 frustrating hours of trying to install the printer, I called tech help at HP. After spending 2.5 hours on the phone (it is a toll call, no 800 number) Tech suggested that I download a patch from Hp which I did. The patch did not work. In the end, I had to return the printer to the place of purchase and will never again purchase a HP printer.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 950

Strengths: Great photo print quality, terrific ease of camera download. The proof page allows error free method to select photos for printing.

Weakness: Supplies are very expensive and the page yield per cartrige is low. The black cartridge can be refilled several times, but I haven't found anyone to refill the $70 color cartridge.

HP says it will not release the software to support the fax and scanner until later this spring (big surprise)so I don't know how well they will perform. If cost per page is not a big issue, this is a great machine. Cartridge change, paper refill and unjamming are all performed with ease. The printer does shake a bit during operation so be sure to place is on a sturdy table.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 950

Strengths: It has everything, color printing, faxing, scaning & copying. Accepts Memory stick, Compact Flash and Smartmedia for printing or saving to PC. Very Good quality when printing digital pix.

Weakness: Single sheet faxing. USB only, no ethernet for network use. Using a Belkin USB Switch to share with two PC's

It's almost everything I could have hoped for in a multifunction printer. Well done HP! If you could add Ethernet connection and multi-page fax, I would say this is the best HP printer to date for home office use.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) PSC 950

Strengths: Good print capability overall. Very good picture scan capability. Fax quality is very good. Easy to install.

Weakness: Exept for the fact that it takes awhile to fax numerous pages, none.

Since purchasing this product I have had opportunities to use all of it's functions. I am very satisfied. I used this device to create family Christmas cards, using photographs, and got rave reviews. Except for the difficulty of sending multiple page faxes, I think this product is great.
For now, this machine satisfies all my needs.
