SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: Quick setup, fast copy to computer with usb 2.0, ability to copy to different card media, good instructions

Weakness: none found

As soon as I received the SanDisk ImageMate 12-1, I put it to work. The instructions made it very simple to setup and since I use Windows 98SE, I loaded up the driver from the enclosed cd-rom with no problem. I copied the small 32mb SD card to my computer in just a matter of seconds with the usb 2.0 connection. It also gave me the option to delete the card after the contents were transferred. The fact that you can copy between card formats is huge plus. I plan on using the ImageMate a lot now since I just purchased 512mb SD & CF for both of my Panasonic and Nikon digital cameras. A great big thumbs up on this wonderful reader/writer!

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: Fast, easy to use, works with any photo card format

This is a great tool. We just hooked it up to a USB port on our PC and it was ready to go. It can work with all the popular card formats, so we can copy photos from any of our family's digital cameras.

Stopped working in Windows XP

Strengths: Easy to use

Weakness: Stops being recognized

Sandisk needs to get their act together. The message says go to sandisk.com, retail sales (NONE FOUND), go to customer support, (NONE FOUND) follow instructions. Couldn't find the RIGHT instructions to fix problem.
Customer support stinks!

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: The interface for reading xD cards is great once you figure out how it works. The data transfer is fast.

Weakness: The included software with the SanDisk did not work with Windows XP. The included driver is for Windows 98SE. The manufacture web sites were less than helpfull

The SanDisk 12-1 reader worked great after I deleted the the included software. Once I deleted the software, I plugged the ScanDisk cable into a USB port. Windows XP immediately recognized the device (as external drives).
The files transfer (drag and drop) is fast.

WinXP doesn't require a driver or an installation cd. You plug the ImageMate into your USB port and it is ready to use!

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: 12 different types of memory cards, easy installation, store with or without docking station

Weakness: None

I continue to be impressed with SanDisk's quality products. I use this adapter with my Compact Flash card and Memory Stick Pro Duo (the really small memory cards). I can transfer files from memory card to memory card or from PC to memory card. Everything moves fast at USB2.0 speeds.

Installation was a breeze with Windows XP. Plug and Play, no installation required.

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: Installs easily to a USB port. Don't have to install any software if you have Win XP, and you want to put the memory cards into the reader to read or write to the cards.

Weakness: None

Installed very easily to a USB port, Windows XP detected the 12-in-1 reader quickly, and I could use the reader in about 1 minute.I installed a Compact Flash into one slot and an xD card into another slot. I could use both cards at the same time reading from one and writing to the other. I find this reader very usefull, since I don't have to connect a camera to the computer, and don't have to install the software required to load pictures from diferent cameras.

This review fundamentally answered my question in that the description on the site does not state if you could write to the other cards. Told me what I wanted to know, and now i'm seriously considering, even more than before, buying this product...

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: Just plug in and use

Weakness: They use a sticky warning label over the end of the USB plug that is a little hard to get off.

I have an iMac G5 using MacOS X 10.3. I plugged the device in and immediately put in a memory card. It came right up on the desktop. It's an absolute breeze to install, setup, and use.

You can use it in two different ways. One, it has a cool desktop stand with a cable that is about 3' long. Two, you can take it out of the stand and plug in a short, 6" cable directly into the unit. I guess you can use this setup on the road with a laptop/PowerBook.

If you use Windows XP, ME, Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3, or Mac OS 10.1.2+, then you do not have to do anything except plug it in and use it. If you use Windows 98SE or Windows 2000, you have to install a driver that is provided to you on a CD-ROM.

The only negative incident with me was the warning sticker they placed over the end of the USB plug. All it says is to be sure to first install the driver, if needed. Since I have a Mac, I didn't need to but the sticker came off in pieces and I had to scrape the sticky residue off of the plug before I could insert it. It was just an annoyance. Nothing to stop me from recommending this for everyone! (Note: just be sure to get all of the residue off of the plug before you plug it into your computer.)

I recommend buying this card reader for anyone.

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: Compact flexible design. Quality hardware and supporting software. Maximum versitility

Weakness: None

This 12 in 1 card reader is the perfect companion to my digital cameras. I especially like the flexibility I now have to use a multitude of different types of flash cards for easy picture transfer and downloading using only one pocket sized reader. Its a must have device for photographers using differing types of flash cards.

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: easy to set up and use, multi function allows me to view family members and friends cards easily

Weakness: cord length

I saw this product online and having used other products from sandisk was excited to try this as well. i ,again, am very happy with the performance of the product. My family uses four or five different brands of cameras and i am now the go-to guy for picture management due to the diversity of the reader.

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: Very easy to use. Works for a variety of media types. Even with my Win98SE operating system it worked without any problem once I downloaded the driver that came on the installation CD.

Weakness: It would be helpful if the sketch on page 6 of the instructions showed how far the card/media goes inside the slot to avoid pushing it too much to engage properly. A longer cable may also be useful.

I bought the reader/writer for use with my Kodak DX 7440 which uses a SD card, although I could have managed with the USB cable that came with the camera. However, I am sure that for fast transfer of a large number of pictures (from my 512MB card) without running down the camera battery and for other type of media I may use later with other equipment, I would find this versatile device even more useful.

12-in-1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: Works right out of the box. No installation hassles. True plug and play.

Weakness: Too easy to insert a small card (like an xD card) incorrectly.

Exellent add-on for an older PC that does not have a multicard reader/writer built in. Highly recommend it. How much more can I say about a passive little device that quietly does its job and does it well?

Perfect for the Task

Strengths: compact and easy to use

Weakness: card insertion and removal somewhat difficult.

The device is and does exactly what it is intended to do. I would buy it over and over again. Although inserting or removing a SD card feels like your going to break either the device or the card, it is not at all a reason not to buy the device. I would buy it again.

All in one

Strengths: It easy to use and versatile

Weakness: None.

This is a great universal devise that has obvious implications of versatility. Very convenient when you have friends or family members with different cameras and cards. This also works as a backup for your camera if it's port fails in any way...which is what happened to our camera.

I LOVE THIS LITTLE GADGET!

Strengths: PORTABLE/CONVENIENT..VERY EASY TO USE! THE PRICE WAS UNBELIEVABLE!

Weakness: DOESN'T LIST WHICH DRIVE IS WHICH ON THE ITEM ITSELF. YOUR COMPUTER JUST SHOWS EXTRA DRIVES BUT DOESN'T DIFFERENTIATE WHICH ONE IS IN USE AT THE TIME.IT'S LISTS ALL OF THEM AT ONCE. ITS CONFUSING!

It does more than I thought it would do. I love the fact that you can transfer data (photos and mpgs from drive to drive using your computer... of course. Over all..GREAT BUY!

nice unit

Strengths: fairly compact, good accessories, will read just about any flash memory format out there

Weakness: sticker over usb port, constantly glowing amber light, wouldn't work with other usb cable

This unit is pretty good, it's compact, the design is nice, and the footprint is small due to the stand. It does exactly what you expect it to do. It also comes with an additional cable that is a bit short but good if you're out with your laptop and don't want to carry the stand. This thing will read any current format you throw at it.

I do have a couple complaints though. There is this amber light that turns on when the drive is recognized by your computer. It never goes out and I find it to be an eyesore. For some reason, the drive wouldn't be recognized when I used my regular mini-USB cable (as I didn't feel like using the stand and the one it comes with is too short for desktop use). I know my USB cable works because I use it with my digital camera, minidisc player and PSP.

Overall though, very good product. I got this mainly to save battery life when transfering files from my PSP or digital camera. It's a big plus though that it can read any flash memory card a friend or family member brings over with their digital camera.

Great Product!

Strengths: Good for transfering all your media. Plugged it in and away I went.

Weakness: It's a bit pricey, but with all that you can do, it's worth the extra money.

I have transfered SD, CF, and Memory Stick Pro Duo, all without any problems. Fits nice on the desk. It's also USB 2.0, so it's fast! Would buy again.

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: Does not require a lot of computer knowledge to work with it. Easy to load.

Weakness: Instructions are a little confusing. It seems that if you have Windows XP, just plug it in. No need to go through everything to set it up.

I found this to be very easy to use and was extremely pleased at how well it worked from someone who is not computer savvy.

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: No need for installing any program. Just plug and play. Good design. Compability. (12 types cards)

Weakness: Docking station is not stable, it might be better to have a sliding grooves.

I got it from a week ago.
I could use it without any program installing.
It is widely compatible, I have used it with several different computers and it worked very well.
The docking station looks good but the connection is rather week.(need to change design)
After all, it is one of the best products and great price.

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: SanDisk ImageMate did a great job and helped me transfer important information from a memory card to a new device I had purchased.

Weakness: None that I have encountered yet

I had never owned a card reader/writer before and found when I needed one the best thing to do was to research PriceGrabber for prices. I went with the SanDisk as my friend owned one only hers was not a writer. It arrived quickly from New Egg and I was able to use it for the reason it was purchased. Now I have a card reader and writer for all purposes.

Fast Card Reader

Strengths: -Low Price -Lightning fast down loads -Reads multiple media

Weakness: -None as of yet

This read/writer uses the high speed USB 2.0 so the download speed is lightning fast -- about 10 times faster than my camera for downloading pictures. Also saves tying up multiple USB ports on your computer with multiple readers if you have cameras with different cards like I do (SD and CompactFlash). For less than $25 total, this is a great deal.

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: Does everything it claims. Writes to media cards quickly, reads them quickly. Comes with nice stand that gives it a small footprint on a desk.

Weakness: Short USB cable connecting the device to the computer. To use file transfer button (to transfer from media card to computer), card monitor software must be used. Uses large amount of CPU resources.

Overall, a fantastic product. Does everything as advertised, and it looks sleek too. If you're looking for an external reader (as opposed to one that will fit in a 3.5" bay), this is the one to get, especially if you find it priced reasonably (~$25). The speed is a real luxury as well. If you've ever tried using the card reader on an HP printer, the speed of this reader/writer will amaze you.

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: fast setup, fast transfer, very easy to use. Very flexible, works with so many different card formats, even the new PSP Duo.

Weakness: Wish the attached USP cable is longer.

The stand is small, compact, makes it easy to place and locate in a cluttered desk environment. Plug and play on the windows 2000 and XP, and even iBook can just plug in and iPhoto immediately recognize it and import the images quickly.

Sandisk

Strengths: Fast, Portable, Includes docking station

Weakness: None

This is something that is definitely necessary if you are working with a lot of images. I can transfer my images in little time with this because of the USB 2.0 interface. Hold just about every flash media type out there and is designed well.

SanDisk ImageMate 12 in 1 Reader/Writer

Strengths: Easy to set up and use. Small and accepts all types of memory cards.

Weakness: Due to light weight, it's easy to tip over when on stand.

This is is the second SanDisk card reader that I have purchased. The units are priced well and do an excellent job of reading various memory cards. SanDisk has done a great job of engineering the units to accept various types of cards that permit you to read as well as write to the memory cards. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a well made and easy to use memory card reader.
