HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart 1115 Inkjet Printer...

Strengths: VERY Nice features, Ease of use for normal printing as well as for professional looking photos.

Weakness: Had problems installing on a parallel port rather than USB. Also, the cost of ink cartridges is rather... Large. (As is ALL ink, though)

This is one sweet printer. Not only can I print my photos directly from the smartmedia slot on the printer, I can use a compact flash card as a spare drive from the PC. Makes moving stuff from PC to laptop a breeze without a docking station! I've used quite a few different brands of printers in the past 10 years, and it's safe to say HP did an excellent job with this one.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart 1115 Inkjet Printer...

Strengths: Printed very nice quality.

Weakness: Slow printing in best mode.

DON'T BUY I have had this printer for 2 years and now when I print nice photos the printer "freezes" and I lose the page. I know hp is nice BUT GO WITH ANTHER TYPE OF HP PHOTOSMART. I am buying an hp 7150. I have troubleshooted the printer, and I know it is an error inside the printer. DON'T BUY THIS PRINTER!

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart 1115 Inkjet Printer...

Strengths: Excellent color rendition and saturation. Easy to install software and user friendly.

Weakness: PPM slower than manufacture's stated speed ratings.

Over past 15 years I have owned at least 7 HP inkjet printers and (3) laser printers and have always been satisfied with their capabilities. The Photosmart model 1115 is by far the best of the lot and for the price you won't find anything better on the market.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart 1115 Inkjet Printer...

Strengths: good photo quality, regarding colors. Easy installation.

Weakness: poor prints, as a result of flaw in printer which causes one of the rollers to score each photo. I have had two replacement printers, each with the same problem.

This problem has been very frustrating to me, as I bought this printer with printing and repairing photos. All of my photos are ruined becausxze of score marks running from top to bottom. Tech support said this is not an isolated problem, but most people do not notice it. Take a look at your own photos. The only positive thing I can say is the tech support has been decent. I would not buy this product again! One star at best!!!!!!!!!!!

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart 1115 Inkjet Printer...

Strengths: Print quality is excellent in all print sizes. Software was easy to install and works perfectly.

Weakness: The only possible weakness is it's print speed. But that is not that important anyway.

This is a high quality product and has no competition in it's price range. You get lab quality prints for a great price. What else can you ask for?

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart 1115 Inkjet Printer...

Strengths: print speed and quality in draft mode, photo printing on glossy paper, ease of setup and operation

Weakness: cost of ink and photo paper

Technology has come a long way since the Epson MX-80 nine pin dot matrix printer. I had an Epson Stylus 600 that I thought did a pretty decent job of graphics, until I got a digital camera and saw a friends HP Photosmart 1215 output from his digital media card. I was hooked. I've used Epson and Canon printers. I still use them. However, for digital photos I'll not be using anything but the Photosmart.

I chose the 1115 simply because I'd rather put the $100 difference between the 1115 and the 1215 into ink and paper in lieu of 3 pages per minute increased speed and auto paper size detection... no regrets. I've had absolutely no problems with the printer, nor with set up. I'm using the USB interface, which was really straight forward. The software installation went smooth without any complications. I like the ability of the software to display all of the images as thumbnails, whether from a digital camera media, or from a drive media. The creation of image albums is as simple as the installation, and the printing itself.

The design of the Photosmart printer allows for printing on 4X6 photo stock, as well as 8-1/2x11. Each can be loaded in their separate trays at the same time. Either can be selected at time of printing. HP made the use of envelopes truly a breeze on this printer. I doubt I'll be printing a few labels any longer.

Bottom line: This printer can be summed up in one word . . . simplicity. One of my better choices.
