Panasonic PT47WX49 47" Rear Projection TV

Strengths: ease of use

Weakness: plain remote

This unit is great. As for the other persons' review, why would you buy a WIDE SCREEN if your going to watch it in normal tv mode???

pt47wx49

Strengths: lasted for 4 years without any problem, i guess that's a plus these days

Weakness: I have had this tv for about 4 years, the burn in problem on the side grey bars does exist and is very annoying and now my tv is showing a blue shadow rainbow from the convergence board being off.

see the strenghts and weaknesses, and then don't buy this tv, much better stuff out there

Panasonic PT47WX49 47" Rear Projection TV

Strengths: Lots of unique features

Weakness: Haven't found any yet.

Definitely well worth the money. I haven't found the problem that one other reviewer complained about such burned images on the screen. Perhaps they haven't set it up right.

Burned out!

Strengths: nice picture

Weakness: you have to watch the stretched image of regular TV or you get instant burn in on the side bars.

Definitely not worth the money! Very disappointed. No mention from sales person about burn in, even though it's extremely common, "oh, did you read the manual?" Give me a break, it's a TV!

Panasonic PT47WX49 47" Rear Projection TV

Strengths: DEFINATELY worth the money. Great picture, especially when using a high definition signal.

Weakness: Haven't found even one.

I have one hyphenated word for the first guy who reviewed this television - DUMB-@SS. Why do you think that the TV has options for stretching or scaling a 4:3 picture to fit the screen?? Any half-way responsible salesperson should have informed you of the burn-in problem when always viewing a 4:3 signal with the "gray bars." Getting used to viewing with one of the other options takes maybe a day or two, and in JAN of 2007 when the FCC mandates that everything is to go to 16:9 you'll be the one with the advantage. All of the idiots who insisted on buying 4:3 sets will permenantly have black bars.

Panasonic PT47WX49 47" Rear Projection TV

Strengths: Wide screen.

Weakness: Image burns bands onto the screen with very little effort. Therefore, you can't watch regular TV.

If you watch anything other than widescreen such as regular TV, this TV will burn images onto the screen. I've only had it for a month and it sucks.

Panasonic 47"

Strengths: Great picture, good size for any room.

Weakness: Viewing angle is kind of narrow. Wish it would have come with a screen protector.

I bought this TV is 2002 and also foolishly watched it in 4:3 format for almost a year before I realized I was getting the gray bar screen burn. Since then I've watched it in only 16:9. If you watch something with a very white picture you used to be able to really seen the burn in. After a couple of years it seemed like the pixels reactivated and the burn went a way. The picture is back to perfect now. I love this TV.

Nice picture, but that burn-in thing on the side...

Strengths: Displays HD and DVD beautifully

Weakness: Side bars burn in

There are differing opinions here, but I don't like to watch 4:3 shows stretched to 16:9. I got this widescreen when it first came out. I got it for watching DVD and in anticipation of HD becoming the predominant format. In the meantime, I watched the 4:3 shows in their intended proportions and got a permanent burn-in of the sidebars. This was a $2,000 TV in its early days. I don't think it's fair of Panasonic to put out a product with a flaw like this. I don't blame the sales guy...he's a teenager in a blue shirt and khakis...this is all on Panasonic.

Panasonic TV

Strengths: Picture quality

Weakness: Size

I have had this TV for about five years now and I havent had any problems. I have moved quite a few times and it has held up well. For the priice it is a good buy. That is a lot less than I paid a few years ago.
