Great HelperStrengths: The Platinm 12C of Hp is good for the professional. Weakness: I didn't see a good covering for this. I am a realtor and a loan Officer. I found this calculator is good enough for a professional. It makes the work easy as we may enable to assess the prospects for their qualifying critaria quickly. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Overkill for adding 12 + 37, but a great financial...Strengths: Comprehensive finacial functions, including NPV, bond pricing, depreciation, simple statistical functions, plus keystroke programming. Weakness: Complex calculator difficult for simple problems (like adding or subtracting numbers), and cumbersome for data entry. When I attained my MBA in the mid-80s, the HP12c (gold) was THE standard. This calculator performed ALL the calculations demanded of us. HP has one-upped it's workhorse by increasing it's speed, the range of its calculations, and it's color. As long as you need the depth of its abilities, this is a good deal. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HP-12C Platinum Financial CalculatorStrengths: * Industry standard -- allowed on many financial exams * Easy to use, tons of features, small size * Wealth of documentation on problem solving Weakness: * This model has a more durable case, I personally prefer the older, softer, standard 12C style. Great calculator that's easy to carry with you. The new Platinum design is a great improvement over the old 12C, and well worth the investment (even for aesthetic reasons alone). The RPN/Algebraic switching is helpful, along with the increased memory for programs. Whether you're a finance student or full-time professional, you can't go wrong with the HP-12C Platinum! 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

A timeless classicStrengths: RPN and durability Weakness: What weaknesses? I have been using This calculator for years and couldn't be happier. The power of RPN is astounding. I just bought a 25th anniversery 12C for my accounting major daughter. I am sure she will love it too. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Improving on an old friendStrengths: All the features you expect plus the ability to do more programming steps. Weakness: As with the original - price. It's hard to believe the original 12C could be improved upon, but alas, HP has done it! Albeit, small improvements, HP has added the ability to program more steps (as if you need more...), a better battery and a sleek new look. Not really any reasons to dump your old 12C, unless you are like me and dropped it... and need a replacement. Anyway, this is an improved version of the already near-perfect business companion many of us have come to rely on. If you are a finance, sales, marketing or otherwise finance inclined business professional - this little gem is simply without equal! Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HP 12C PlatinumStrengths: Lots of good functions Weakness: Keys are too small This is a sophisticated calculator that is not too easy to use for the amateur but great if you are familiar with it. It serves its purpose and provides a great wealth of information once you become accustomed to how it works. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HP 12C PlatinumStrengths: A must buy for the CIMA. Weakness: Expensive. I had to buy this calculator for the CIMA examination. The calulator is easy to use, but comes with a large manual. After spending eighty dollars on a calculator I better pass this exam! Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Just like the package said: "for professionals in...
Strengths: RPN (Reverse Polish Notation), long battery life
Weakness: Hight price and old fasion, needs to practice to remember
I am a new licensed REALTOR.
My brocker asked me to get one HP 12C calculator right after I joined his team. I wasn't sure why it's a requirement for agents in his company until I found out how powerful it was. To me, the most important benifit is the RPN, which totally educated me about how a tiny calculator can be such a monster! It's really useful just like a palm computer in your hand without the fancy screen. The oldest one in the company was made in 1981 in USA (HP 12c) with 3 tiny batteries. Compare to mine, the HP 12c Platinum, was made in 2005 in China with only one battery. You won't find any major difference between these two calculators except the old model has a golden panel.
The only function I haven't learned yet is the Programming. Maybe I'll be amazed again by it's powerful function later!
