Good buy

Strengths: - Preloaded with 2008 maps - Very quick route calculations - Easy to operate - Backed by Garmin, good support

Weakness: - Does not have satellite information page - More expensive than other comparable units

I previously had a Garmin iQue 3600. This unit is much better for those looking for a simple easy to use GPS navigator. It is faster at route calculation and recalculation if you should miss a turn. The 3600 was obsessed with its original route and would take you out of your way to get back to it. The nuvi is not so obsessed and will map out a route that doesn't make it inconvenient to get back on track.

It is also very easy to use. My wife was able to set a destination for one of our old homes within a minute of picking it up for the first time.

HI THERE. THIS UNIT DOES HAVE A SATELLITE PAGE.PRESS AND HOLD PRECISELY OVER THE POWER LEVEL METER IN UPPER LEFT HAND CORNER FOR 4-8 SECONDS AND RELEASE. YOU SHOULD THEN HAVE SAT PAGE WITH INFO ON SPEED ELEVATION LOCATION,AND ACCURACY IN FEET. GOOD LUCK.PENCIL ERASER WORKS GREAT FOR ACCURACY.

Garmin Nuvi 250W

Strengths: Great software and very easy to use

Weakness: Software crashes when you try to find the name of a location it does not recognize

Very pleased with this device. The display is bright and clear and it is very user friendly. So far it has been very accurate. Other than the minor glitch mentioned above I highly recommend this GPS

Garmin is the Brand

Strengths: My experience is that Garmin is the way to go with GPS

Weakness: None

I bought a Lowrance IWay350 C from this website in July of 2006. I cannot recommend any Lowrance products because of the problems it has given me. One of the most glaring is that it takes ten minutes to find me. It also loses me for 20-30 minutes at a time.

I sent in a request to Lowrance for service and they quoted me $199.00. I cannot in any way recommend Lowrance for GPS. I have a group of employees that use Garmins for their GPS Navigational needs. They love this product.

solid product without the unnecessary extras

Strengths: * GUI is very easy to use * widescreen is very easy to read * charge seems to last for >4 hours * maps have pretty recent additions (roads/restaurants)

Weakness: * sometimes gets confused in pedestrian mode in the city * no AC or USB charger(only car charger included) * no Chinese built in (only european languages in this version)

I have been looking for a GPS for about a year now. I have been interested in the widescreen versions but have not been willing to shell out the> $600 to get one as they tended to be higher end versions with bluetooth, MP3 capability and FM traffic receivers for a subscription; none of which i needed.

This was the perfect device, a solid performing, purpose built GPS without any extras i didn't want to pay for.

i liked that it has a pedestrian and bike mode that ignores the one way streets cars must obey.

Nice looking and user friendly; with few basic...

Strengths: Slim and modern design (both the unit and car windshield holder), quick routing and re-routing, very extensive POI, price ok at $300

Weakness: No customization of main map screen; voice direction does not mention street or exit names(only: "right turn in 300 ft"); box does not include: USB, wall charger, protective case.

I've been using the Nuvi 252W for a week now. Before that, I used the Magellan Maestro 4040 (also priced at $300). Unlike the Maestro, the Nuvi does not have blue tooth and no text to voice, which to me are not important. However, I was disappointed that the box did not include a USB cable, wall charger, nor protective pouch. The Nuvi has a modern slim design (slimmer than the Maestro), and the car holder is also smaller and sturdier. They're both easy to use, but the Nuvi has a much more extensive POI database (Garmin claims that it comes loaded with 6 million entries!). I have found pretty much all businesses that I've looked for (at least in Southern California). It loads the maps very quickly, and re-routes within 3-4 seconds! I wish the main map screen could be customized according to user's preferences. For example, the "arrive time" is always there on the main screen, which I least me don't care for since it's not reliable. The Maestro would let you change that info for mileage remaining for destination, a more accurate and useful information. Overall, the modern design and the extensive POI database outweigh its flaws.

An easy use GPS

Strengths: easy use, portable, voice prompt

Weakness: voice prompt does not have street name

This GPS is ok. It has accurate information for most of the cities in US. The voice prompt is clear. The reroute function if fast. It is portable, easy use.

The problems it has are, first, the voice prompt does not have street name, which sometimes makes confusion. Second, I could not find non-highway route function, it should have an easy switch for such function.

great for the value

Strengths: accurate maps

Weakness: tooooo long to get GPS signal

when I first use the GPS, it took almost half hour to get the signal. The satellites did not locate until I arrived the destination by the paper map. But it has Chinese instruction voice. it is great. also the wide screen is very useful. It do not have road name spell, but this function is not that useful. it is worth than C350.

my favorite GPS so far

Strengths: Excellent interface, clear-enough map, wide screen, not-quite-expensive

Weakness: slow in searching signal and searching the attraction

I used some other GPS but I still think Garmin 200w or 250w are good. They have good interface. The wide screen makes a significant difference because you may view more and have a better feeling when you touch it. I would highly recommend the 250w over 250 even though it's slightly more expensive. I rarely get lost after I used 250w. It gives a very clear indication that which lane you should keep in the highways when there are a lot of merging. It will also give you significant time in advance to take the next exit on highway.

The bad side is it's a bit slow to detect the satellite at the beginning. Also, when you try to search the attraction, it will take a very long time and will give you some outdated results.
