It works for the MS Sidewinder

Strengths: Works for the MS Sidewinder.

Weakness: Doesn't work for analog joysticks.

This is not a converter for analog joysticks; it is an adapter for the MS Sidewinder. All of the circuitry to make it work is in the joystick, this just lets the Sidewinder interface with the USB port. It is similar to how several PS/2 mice use an adapter for USB. It will not convert analog signals to digital. Use a product like the MayFlash USB Game Port Adapter for that.

Belkin DB15 to USB

Strengths: Looks good...

Weakness: Does not work...

I bought this device in hopes of using my old Thrustmaster FLCS. Like the first review, this device does not show up in any way, shape or form. I am running Windows XP Professional as my OS and it does not recognize the adapter. This device like other Belkin product leaves much to be desired.

Sidewinder Joystick Adapter

Strengths: Apparently none, the light does illuminate on the joystick. That's about it.

Weakness: How about, it does not work!

I bought this product thinking that the rather expensive Sidewinder could be salvaged for a newer computer application. After receiving the product I scoured the Internet for an answer and found none. Belkin does not grasp the problem presented to them and they offer no drivers like they do for some of their products.

Belkin DB15 USB to Game Port Adapter Cable

Strengths: It was what I ordered and plugs in as expected

Weakness: Does not work

I bought the Belkin DB15 USB Joystick 8" Adapter with hopes of using my Microsoft Sidewinder Forcefeedback joystick (with a game port plug) on a new Vista machine. I first tried the plug adapter and joystick on my old Win XP machine. It did not work. The USB port did not recognize the plug. I then tried it on my new Vista machine. It still did not work either. No joystick controls and no feedback of any kind. I later learned that Vista discontinued support of game ports thus I now have a Microsoft Sidewinder Forcefeedback paperweight. This cable was useless on both OS's. My only remaining thought is my XP machine does have a game port and the Microsoft Sidewinder Forcefeedback still works on that.

It was worth a try @ $6, but no joy in Mudville

Strengths: None

Weakness: It didn't work with Vista. The machine doesn't see any hardware is plugged in.

It was a waste. The machine didn't see any hardware at all. It didn't work with Vista. The machine doesn't see any hardware is plugged in. Oh Well.

USB joystick adapter for MS sidewinder, doesn't work

Strengths: It's pretty????

Weakness: Support is non-existant, doesn't detect on the OS, doesn't do anything

I bought this cable with the hopes of using my Microsoft Force Feedback Joystick once again. I haven't played any games in a while, and with my new computer, there is no gameport. After hooking this cable up to both the pc and the controller, absolutly nothing happened. I've tryed rebooting (no change), adding the game controler manually (reports back that the gameport is not configured correctly), even tried to find the device in the device manager with no luck. Going to Microsoft is useless because they no longer support the joystick. Dissapointing all around.
