Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: great low/mid/high quality.

Weakness: none to speak of

after alot of use i have come to much preffer these over my old Z-680 set.

There is alot of changes (it is not just the woofer like some people claim... check the site) the mid range is alot clearer and the woofer is no longer "boomy" but can still output thunderous shakes that rock my mirror on the wall. the woofer along with its increase in size has gained alot of clarity in its bass frequency output aswell, alot more defined i would say :)

The added support of DTS 24/96 means i can play games/dvds that support it which is nice, and yes there quite a few poping up although i have only 3 titles so far

speaker wire is just composite cable from your local radio shack, so cheap and easy to extend... and if you like voiding your warrenty the wire is very easy to completely replace.

just like the 680's however you can notice a small amount of extra clarity if you remove the grills... however i would only do this if you have them wall mounted and have no issues with things being thrown around :)

connectivity is just as simple and easy, 3 stero minijack inputs for direct 6 channel sound, or you can switch to 3x2 stereo inputs if you preffer. the set does not come with any digital cabling, however Coax digital cable is just composite cable... cheap and easy to hook up. and of course you have the option of optical

the SPL on these are rated at >115db and using my own SPL rating tools i have a reading of 108db and thats not at max volume... to put it simply, these speakers do output some grunt in great quality... they are by no means the best speakers you can get for your home theater/pc but for there price range... they certaintly are :)

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Incredible sound, great sound output options, window-rattling bass, excellent control console.

Weakness: Speakers are connected to wire--some may find it preferable to attach speakers to their own speaker wire.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was that the subwoofer was much larger than I would have expected. It is easily as large as the subwoofers found on premium home theater setups. Looking at the subwoofer, satellites, and console, it was clear that this was as serious as a computer speaker setup gets. It was not going to disappoint, either.

I logged onto Napster, and the first song I played was "In the Club" by Blur. I am not a huge Blur fan, but heard the song recently and recalled it had quite a bit of bass. At the volume around 40%, and the subwoofer at 30%, the whole place was shaking. Shaking, but the sound was impeccable.

Next, I threw in Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon," switched the speaker output to Dolby ProII Music, and was then treated to a real show. It really seemed like I was at a PF concert. The vocals were coming from the front speakers and the sound effects were swirling throughout the room. No musical detail was hidden. Every sound was distinct, sharp and clear. I have never heard music sound better than this.

This speaker system does not come cheap, but I will tell you it is worth every penny. Listening to music through it is bliss. If you are looking for a new set of speakers, and these cost as much as $150 more than you would be ordinarily willing to pay, make the investment. You'll be happy that you did.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Okay These things are insane the base in them is just crystal clear among with everything else the surround sounds just awsome, i can't recomend these things enough to anyone a definite buy.

Weakness: I Cant seem to find any weekness everything about these speakers are awsome bout the only weekness would be that they don't have removable speaker wire.

WOW!!

Strengths: 10 years ago this sound quality would have cost you at least $1200

Weakness: Wall Mounting. Its goofy... The main controller is the size of a brick.

These things sound great!!

The box it comes in is the size of a large dorm room refrigerator. (~60 lbs)

I believe I read that the wires are permanently fixed to each speaker. This is not the case. However you get about 12 to 15 feet of wire per speaker, so you may want to buy a spool of 100 feet of 16 / 18 gauge at Radio Shack or someplace before you begin.

The controller is very large and sort of clumsy. It comes with a ~6 foot “pig tail” that hooks to the subwoofer, so plan on having the subwoofer near the controller. Plus you must connect the 3 way mini-jack speaker wire to it and to the computer, however an extension should work if it needs to be farther away.

The last big problem I had was with the wall mounting. If you plan on setting these on a flat surface, your in great shape.

I mounted the rear speakers on the wall, and they twist/pivot on an “equatorial” type mount that is really sort of strange. Someone in another review here mentioned, you’ll understand it when you see it and play with it. Basically if you want to mount it on the wall (without a mounting board), then I suggest you have a professional mount it (and not pay him until its done), or you have a house with the wall studs running horizontal and not vertical (not really likely). Its hard to explain in words what the problem is, but the base of each speaker is in a Y shape with the drill holes at the top two ends of the Y. Therefore you must turn the base (Y) sideways to mount it and hit the stud behind the drywall/sheetrock.

When you turn it sideways, you can’t pivot the speakers in a desirable direction. Like the other review said, you’ll see what I mean when you get them and try it.

As far as the speaker system itself, I had the volume up only 50% in my basement and I could hear the base thumping on the street outside the house. If you need louder speakers you are either deaf, or dead.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Great sound, incredible bass. Extremely easy to set up and use. THX-certified (meaning: they're theater-quality). They look great.

Weakness: Um...the speakers could swivel a bit more on their bases to make them easier to aim. The box they come in is pretty heavy...

This is the best speaker system I've ever heard. My roommate was watching Lord of the Rings, and I thought the deep rumbling I was hearing through the wall was a nasty thunderstorm brewing outside.

You really can't go wrong with this setup. If you have the cash and you want the best speakers you can buy with that cash, you'll have a VERY hard time finding something better, if you can. Which I doubt.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Crisp sound, realistic sound and thumping bass - and it's like a receiver!

Weakness: if I were to choose one...it would be the lack of treble control

This system is absolutely amazing. I had it hooked up via analog for a while and it was better than my ADA885 Altec Lansing THX certified speakers. Though I got those for around $250 I didn't hear the humungous difference everyone was speaking of! So at that point it was worth my money but didn't know if the upgrade was really necessary (the ADA885 rocked!!!)

But then I bought a digital cable and now everything's clear. THX movies are awesome, games are awesome, music is awesome. These are very comparable to my friend's PolkAudio housespeaker system...in fact I like these better, they provide the clarity and don't provide the white noise!

I must say, this is definitely worth it especially with an optical/digital connection...this is very, very sweet and I got it at a rockin price of $240 ($269 is still a steal!)

The bass is absolutely amazing and the sound is just soooo freakin clear...I mean especially compared to 2-way speakers! These have no flaws (except one small one as I mentioned, hah!)

But I've figured out how to adjust the treble via software so everything's fine in that area and that item didn't disappoint me much.

Oh yeah they come with speaker wire now...so you can even probably splice some existing house speakers into this amazing system which can provide up to 1K of wattage (this matches ~ $200 receivers!)

It's amazing how far small computer speakers have gotten today, truely, truely amazing!

I definitely recommend this for anyone who has 2.1 and wants an upgrade...and those with the ADA885, I can recommend this too if you can get it at about $270 (the ADA885 really rocked my house :). Otherwise I don't know if I would upgrade unless you really want true surround sound and to be able to use digital audio.

Good stuff, good job logitech (own their mice too and gamepad...they haven't let me down once!)

Oh yeah, I also listened to Onkyo's home theater system, as well as the Klipsch (the Klipsch were good...BUT NOT AS GOOD AS THESE), I also listened to the megaworks, same thing...

I was tied up on what speakers to get, I felt like getting true surround, this ended up on top.

+ digital audio connections
+ multi-input connection just like a receiver
+ clear midrange and highs
+ thumping bass
+ good technology that definitely works without being 2-way
+ now it's real speaker wire
- no treble control (why?!?! Isn't this easy to implement!?)

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Unbelievable sound. Kickin' bass. Handles a variety of connections.

Weakness: Subwoofer is rediculously large. Control panel is huge too. All inputs are made through the control panel which can be awkward.

These are the best sounding computer speakers I've ever heard. Period. The quality is so good, you could easily use these speakers in your living room and connect your DVD player and Playstation2/Xbox to it if you wanted to. I keep the volume down to about 30-40% to keep things reasonable. But heck, if you want to go deaf, it will even let you boost the volume above 100%! It will decode Dolby Digital 5.1. and Pro Logic 2, no prob. It has a nice remote. It has 3 surround sound inputs - coax, optical, and the usual 3 cable PC card. The only thing that could be a problem is that the inputs are on the gigantic control panel, which means that you will have a bunch of wires coming onto your desk or wherever you decide to put the control panel. Also, the subwoofer is huge....makes it hard to put under your computer desk and still have room for your feet! But if you want good sound, you need a big sub, and Logitech delivers.

Scary!!!

Strengths: Seemingly endless volume. More power than you will ever need. Near perfect sound reproduction.

Weakness: Vista driver support.

I absolutely love these speakers. I rarely get them past half way as they are loud! I'm thinking about using them in my living room as they blow my Sony entertainment unit away! Example: I was listening to Chemical Brothers - Influenced, and it actually moved my door in the office until it was almost closed!! I am not making that up. The only draw back, and its a big one, is lack of driver support for Vista. And, you may have to start replacing your 128 Kbps MP3's as the lower encryption becomes noticeable at higher volumes.
Bottom Line: I highly recommend this product, I'm sure Vista support will come down the road. Lastly, if these speakers don't put a smile on your face, nothing will.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Audio quality, ease of use, multiple connection options.

Weakness: Documentation not up to the quality of the product.

Incredible speakers, I never imagined PC audio could sound this good. I'm using a coaxial digital connection to an Audigy 2 ZS soundcard......96 kHz sampling on stereo, amazing 5.1 with Dolby Digital and DTS decoders built in for DVD's! The control pad is very intuitive, and remembers settings by input. Variable effects selectable based on input type. Sub is tight and clear. The satellites are really crisp and sweet too, the sound is sweet. These speakers sound great at all volume levels, including "irritate your neighbors" loud!

OMG You Have To Get These!!!!

Strengths: great bass, remote control, ease of use, and much much more...

Weakness: The subwoofer is Huge and takes up a lot of room.

These are by far the BEST speakers I've owned. I had been using a Philips 2.1 system before upgrading the Logitech Z-550 speakers. I thought the speakers I had before was nice, but these speakers completely blow my old one out of the water!

First of all, theses speakers are EXTREMELY loud, the quality remains high at EVERY volume! At even the loudest setting, there is still absolutely no hissing or static. With these speakers, you will ever need listen to music on full volume, but if you ever do, prepare for a lot of angry visitors :).

I just got these speakers today, and I'm already pissing off my roomates . We each have our own bedrooms, and are separated by two doors and a wall. I was playing some music with just one volume bar (out of twenty), and yet it still woke him with both doors CLOSED!!. I was like OMG these speakers are good, and I had to reduce the volume to 1/2 bar before the complaint stopped.

The only potential problem with these speakers is the size of the sub and the amount space it takes up. The dimensions of the sub is: 12/14/14 l/w/h, and the units are in inches. Before getting these speakers, you should definitely make sure that you have the space to put it. The sub contains powerful magnets, and the direction recommends that you place it at least 2 ft away from other electronic equipment. Underneaths of beds work well =P. The connection cables between the subs and the satellites are very long, so you shouldn't have much trouble. Two of the cables are Extremely long, but if the other 3 don't reach, you can always pick up longer wires from a local store. It's definitely worth it!

Having a good sound card is important if you want to get the full benefit out of these speakers. My old soundcard doesn't support 5.1 audio, so I got the Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Pro, which I tested with my old speakers before installing the Z-5500. Let me tell you, the card made a huge difference! But if you're not willing to pay that much, at least make sure that your sound card has the outputs: front/rear/center, since they are required for direct connection between the speakers and your computer. It will probably still work if your sound card has just one input; however the sound quality will be seriously compromised.

Although a good sound card + the Z-5500 may seem a bit pricey at first, the enjoyment you will get out of it over its life time is more than worth it. You can easily spend over $1k on more expensive sound systems out there, and it may still not be as good as the Z-5500. Notice that this is one of the few items with a perfect 5 star rating. That alone speaks for itself.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Sound Quality, Control center and remote control.

Weakness: None

Bought this system two weeks ago. Set up is straight forward. This system is so powerful, specially for a home office setting. Both movies and music sounds terrific. It offers plenty of inputs for various devices. The digital input works with both regular DVD player or sound card of your PC. I have a Creative SB Audigy 2ZS, which has digital out put. I use digital input for both music and movies. The control center and the remote are both functional and convenient. Anyway, I totally agree with all the raves by other reviewer and this is an awesome system.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Great Sound, Superb Bass, If I could explain in words you could hear sounds from the speakers themselves

Weakness: Subwoofer is heavy.

My last speakers were "Cambridge Soundworks FPS 2000 Digital" Not the greatest now, but certainly great back in 1999. Now with that in mind these speakers blow away everything. The bass is awesome and the speakers are also loud. I suggest buying them if you have the money. When the order came to my door the box was big and heavy and I was amazed at how I miss judged the size of this. Make sure you don't put the sub near your computer or monitor, but you can with the speakers.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Very clean, strong hitting bass. Much more clarity over previous model.

Weakness: A little pricey, other than that, NONE

These speakers are the best set on that market that you can buy, for the price range. 500W of screaming, heart pounding bass and beautiful mid range. Would recommend these speakers to anyone looking for high end performance on their games and music.

Behold the BEHEMOTH!

Strengths: Crisp, clear, incredible sound, loud LoUd LOUD, optical input, remote control, quality construction with great looks, handy control modual.

Weakness: A bit pricey

This device, coupled with my Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card can really make my windows rattle! The only problem is that my wife won’t let me use it to its full potential while she’s home =( I was not expecting the subwoofer to be the size of a dog house, but I guess that’s what you need to get the huge sound that you do! I use my system mostly for gaming and the surround sound, crisp audio, booming base, and directionality is awesome! Now that I’m playing games with the new sound card/speakers, I feel like I’m hearing whole new games.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Crisp, Loud, Accurate sound. Many settings to fit the occasion.

Weakness: Mounting. No Composite input.

I just bought this system a few days ago and Iam completely satisfied with it. Together with my soundblaster platinum EX card, there is nothing this set of speakers can't do. I use it to play my guitar, watch movies, play games and it performs under splendid under all situations. The only small features I would fix on this set would be composite inputs. I know people don't use them too much anymore but it would be nice... Lastly, the mounting is the only bad thing about this set. When I tried tightening the mounting with a philips, the inside nut came loose and it was rattleing inside the speakers. I had to take the speaker apart to screw it in again. Also, they didn't include any screws to mount them on the walls. Lastly, the mounting isn't too adjustable. If you place it on a level surface, the speaker is pointing up so you are forced to mount it on the walls to get a proper angle on these speakers. only the center speaker is adjustable vertically. There is also a thing about mounting these speakers on the wall. It's hard to explain but basically the mounts on the speakers only rotate counter clockwise 180 degrees so it limits your ability to mount the screws one on top of the other since the speakers will all be faceing right. It's hard to explain but when you try to install these, you'll get what Iam talking about. You can only install them with the screws horizontally lined up next to each other but that means you cant point the speakers toward the center unless you have a circular room. I know I wrote mainly about the bad points about this set but that's because everything else is perfect for a set in this price range. You really can't find a better set for this price. It's better than the Onkyo set I bought for $1000 last year.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Sound quality and volume. These speakers are LOUD! The digital decoder is great.

Weakness: The only weakness is that it tempts you to turn up the volume more than you are supposed to :o) (maybe its not a weakness)

These speakers are awesome. They are the best sounding speakers i have heard. I live in dorms and when I turned them up a neighbor came and told me that she could FEEL the bass about 100 feet away on the east wing of the building :)

I give them 1000 Starts out of 1000 Starts :) (5 stars is not enough)

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: bass, boominess feel in the sound.

Weakness: satellite sharpness could be a little better.

when i first received this in the mail, i was just like everyone else that bought it. i was astonished at how big this package was. the sub itself is as big as my door width wise. i was a bit dissatisfied and disappointed when i first played a trance song on these new speakers, hoping that it would make full use of the bass. i guess i kind of expected a little more from these speakers to justify the price for them. these aren't home theater speakers, however, they sure do sound great. after owning these for a few weeks, i have come to realize that after the break-in process, the speakers started to sound slightly more better than when i first plugged them in. maybe that is just me, but i feel that it is a bit different from then. one thing is for sure though, get a pretty good sound card to match these speakers. don't skimp back too much on a sound card, because that kind of holds back the full potential of what these speakers can produce. i learned this after plugging these into a more recent sound card with the latest features and options from a well known company. i was able to tell a noticeable difference from the sound card i had several years ago. if you have the money, i would recommend these speakers.

Ready to rearrange your furniture?

Strengths: Clarity and range are magnificent. Should be priced up with professional systems like bose.

Weakness: The cost of domestic noise violation tickets. Premature elective deafness. Someone will steal the remote out of frustration.

Im a super in my apartment complex and I received my first $40 ticket the first day I bought it thanks to saving private ryan. And everyone here loves me. Dont bother putting the woofer on rubber feet and/or placing it on needle peg mounts and/or going with professional foam, your still upsetting people. It has close to the same fidelity as my $900 bose system. Buy this NOW, thank me later.

Logitech Z-5500 Speakers

Strengths: Incredible depth in all ranges.

Weakness: Haven't discovered any yet.

Way back in '99 I purchased a set of Yamaha YST-MS50 2.1 speakers for the then rather hefty price of $149.00. They're only 80 watts total but sound ever so good.Fast forward to the introduction of both the Creative Labs and Klipsch 5.1 systems. Each sounded pretty great but not impressive enough to pry me away from my trusty Yamaha's. Then Logitech introduced the Z-5500's. I have spent an entire day putting these speakers thru their paces and am absolutely in awe of their clarity and stableness at any volume level. I can't recommend them highly enough. Be prepared to spend some time configuring your audio card then stand back in amazement. I've had these speakers for over 8 months now and my opinion hasn't changed. I paired them with Creative Lab's Audigy 2zs Platinum Pro sound card and am amazed daily at the fidelity. These speakers are true winners!

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: An excellent bang for the buck.

Weakness: For what you pay for, you can't complain.

A powerful system but remember, this IS a bang for the buck system. For someone with an audiophile ear, and will pay the money required for such a system, this is not for you. This is NOT a replacement for a high end audio solution. But it is, however, a good replacement for a Home theater in a box. I give this system four out of five stars because it does what it says it will do: punch out hard, loud, and reasonably filling sound at a darn good price and I like bang for the buck considering that I'm in college but there are some things lacking that make it a system to really "WOW!" the heck out of someone who knows a little something about audio. They work great for movies and games. The sub packs quite a punch. Occasionally, the sub is a little behind in response but hardly noticable to the casual ear. Mids and highs seem strong especially for what you pay for but do start to give a little bit once you really push them to the limit (expected from any multimedia speaker system though: Klipsch's ProMedia Ultras, Creative's Gigaworks, or Logitech's Z-5500). For the strictly music listening though, I would consider the Creative Gigaworks S750's. Though pricy, it may be worth it and also consider it's a 7.1 system as opposed to a 5.1 (no receiver though).

This system is clearly a bang for the buck flagship multimedia system. Is it better than an $800 HTIB? In most respects, yes also considering the control module has some (but not all) of the same inputs a HTIB reciever would have. Is it a several thousand dollar audiophile system? Absolutely not. But for putting down less than $300, there's no way you can go wrong.

To sum it up, audiophiles who can afford audiophile equiment: stay clear. People who are looking for a great speaker system for a great price and has the performance to show for it: it's a definite buy.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: very nice sound, compatible with many connections. Makes the house tremble, surround is crisp clear, no problems with distortion.

Weakness: Cables not included for other types of connections

screens to revile the sleek look of the speakers.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Color code wiring, easy to connect. Self test button to check the connection. ProLogic feature for the regular 2 channel stereo conversion.

Weakness: Over 50 lbs, real heavy. Subwoofer also big, like a 13" TV, make it inconvenience to put under the table, might easily kick into it.

Remote and control panel both design nice and easy to use. I wish they can make the wire for rear speaker a little longer. Overall is a very good system.

THESE ROCK

Strengths: I've been a die hard Klipsch fan since they first entered the desktop speaker market. I was wrong. I apologize.

Weakness: NONE

I am shocked at the clarity and precision of the Logitech Z-5500's. I've just run through the following artists Black Eyed Peas, Billy Joel, Les Miserables, Classic Lullabies (I have a five month old child) U2, Dixie Chicks, Bruce Springsteen and some two bit, second rate lounge singer, and they all sound fantastic. At the current discounted rate these are a steal. Now its time to see what these babies can really do. I've got LIVE, Aerosmith, Creed, and Metallica lined up next.

fantastic sound

Strengths: clear sound, thummping bass, many add on's

Weakness: no hdmi

i have read dozens of reviews on the logitech z-5500 and watched many vids on youtube too, one or two reviews said the bass was too heavy, while this may be true if you have a half decent soundcard you can simply control the bass with the software. the speakers look great, the control panel is the size of a brick with a big fat dial to control the sound! the sub is i think one of the biggest you can buy for the pc, the sound on call of duty 4 is awesome...tiger woods 2008? not so much. great value for yourmoney am using the z-5500's for my home theatre. logitech have made a great system.

These are surely the most valuable speakers. ever

Strengths: Impeccable sound quality, amazing bass, convenient remote, all the speakers and controls look very contemporary, includes speaker-wire

Weakness: Heavy (not that it should be moved more than once), remote seems unnecessarily large (though still light and pocketable)

The one thing besides these speakers which i could say is amazingly valuable (compared to cost) is my iMac G5. And even that was on the pricey side. Especially considering the price of these speakers on this site (up to $400 from other stores), these are perfect, even for an audiophile.

Anyone who listens to music, particularly from their computer (via iTunes or whatnot), should have these.

Excellent Quality Speakers for any application

Strengths: Speakers have sound quality that surpasses $2K systems

Weakness: None

I had read that these speakers had cinch / RCA conectors. NOT TRUE. They use regular wire and hook up is simple. I also read that you can't control Center Rear and SUB. NOT TRUE. You can and it's simple. There are volume controls for each. I had also read that you can't control the Dolby signal. NOT TRUE. You can control they Dolby by pushng a button on the console or remote. Secret control is that by turning up the volume to MAX, continue to turn it up more and you'll reach the "BOOST" mode (1 - 11). In this mode you will shatter windows and knock things off the wall without any distortion. These are excellent speakers for the money. The SPL is somewhere close to a 747 Jet in your living room 110db.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: PERFECT SPEAKER...IT IS ABSOULTLY SUIT FOR DVD AND GAME. SOUND FROM IT IS SO CLEAR AND HEAVY AND THE SURROUND SOUND IS AWESOME. I STRONGLY COMMAND THIS SPEAKER.

Weakness: MMM...I CAN'T SEE ANY WEAKNESS. IF I HAVE TO SAY, I WOULD SAY SUBWOOFER IS HEAVY AND HUGE.

Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker System is my first 5.1 audio system. I have already seen many comments from many peope.
of course, it obtains a lot of positive responses. And I enjoy music, DVD, and games.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: Light up controler display, sound and quality. No heat from woofer or power. :)

Weakness: Giant sub woofer, I could not believe how big this box was. = Maybe this should be a strength?

I love these speakers and I am impressed that logitech would put out such a good product. Though there is a warranty due to the size and weight I am not sure I could ever use it. It would be $30-50 to ship this somewhere.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System

Strengths: 188 watt subwoofer. versitility

Weakness: I still wish it was louder.

This is by far the best speaker system on the market. I am a college student and I am driving everyone in my dorm crazy by playing this thing full blast. It has THX certification and you could easily connect your console to it. However, I am greedy. Even though this is the closest you will come to a concert, I still WANT IT TO BE LOUDER!!!

Better Prices Other places

Strengths: These Speakers ROCK! My 5-Star rating is for the speakers, not Patriot PC Outlet.

Weakness: Too Expensive from a store who "Proudly Serving Those Who Serve Proudly!

Hey, you can get these same speakers from TigerDirect.com for $259.99. Newegg.com has the same speakers, but costs $302.99. Either way, both are better in price than here! No, I did not buy from here,

Good but no tthe best

Strengths: Bass is amazing, Quality is very good, although my first set, broke, the terminals on the subwoofer shorted out, so I ended up with a 2.1 instead "sigh" I hear its common though

Weakness: Since there isn't a tweeter, its pretty bad listening to piano solos and guitar, like real music Doesn't sound that great, their reallllly loud, and good for gaming, dumb and bass and thats it =/

In short, its really boomy, with alot of bass, some clarity, but if your an audiophile like me, I wouldn't buy them, I would just go with a Klipsch or the Creative S750's because these aren't good for anything other than bass and gaming.

x-5500 rox ur sox

Strengths: pshhh every thing about this product is strong. They made their newer model weaker because of this product. This is like the old hot rods. Too strong for the streets. But they had their time.

Weakness: lol none

If you can still find this product. Get it. Logitech is trying to push their 7.1 system which is less strong in the bass department. Eventually it will be gone. I got mine for $250 2 years ago. It is much cheaper now. GET IT!!! This thing will literally hurt your ears. No joke. It can cause pain in your ears and eventually give you a headache that lasts a while. Also it could damage your hearing. And after all that is what we are looking for aren't we?

Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker System

Strengths: Have you ever been to a loud rock concert? They sound just about like that! 500+ watts RMS; 5.1 audio; digital inputs; non-hardwired speaker wire which is easily upgraded to monster cable, etc.

Weakness: I have been using these speakers for over one year. If there is anything bad about them, I have yet to find it! If it's too loud, your too old!

If you like to watch movies with lots of sound effects, such as Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Spiderman, Die Hard, etc., these speakers will rock your world! I doubt you'll find this much bang for your buck with any other system! You would most likely have to buy a much more expensive component stereo system to come close to the quality and audio volume this system delivers! Seriously, THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!!

Good value and performance HTIB system

Strengths: THX cert, powerful sub, built-in receiver/decoder

Weakness: stands have limited adjustment and not upgradable. satellites lack the clarity and separation of 2-way or 3-way bookshelf speakers.

Best bang for the buck electronics item I've ever owned. More than adequate as computer speakers and powerful enough for small to medium sized home theater applications. Works best in rooms of approximately 400 sq ft or less.

**********Logitech Z-5500**********

Strengths: Best Speakers I've Ever Owned!!!! I swear, I've been through sound systems back and forth and to me they even sound better than the BOSE system I previously had!!!! Go Out and get these now!!!!

Weakness: Inputs should have been separated from initial 5.1 inputs, Lack of Sleep or auto shut off. Subwoofer is huge, heavy and will give you a headache. Control Pad is big and thick like a concrete Brick.

To tell you the truth, I love em even though I wrote cons about the product above. If I would of known about these a while ago, or even had it in my budget to get these, I would of gotten them sooner.

My Oh My..........

Strengths: Crystal Clear Sound WOW.Decoder a big plus.Subwoofer HUGE and as they say thunderous bass.

Weakness: If you want to get the most out the System you will need a good quality sound card.(like Audigy 2 ZS).Thats is you want to reach 400-1000 Watt crystal clear sound.satellites are also not well protected

Oh hell yea anyone looking for quality sound and very Loud this is it.Even better than the (Gigaworks5.1) and the price come on......you can beat that.

Quit Reading and order already

Strengths: Ear BLEEDING LOUD

Weakness: If ur complaing about the "heaviness" of the 5500's ur just dumb good speakers...of course the "1" box it ALL comes in is gonna be heavy...

Makes my old 5300's sound like speakers u would pick up at a 99cent store. They look great and very "fancy" especially on a $250 humongo pc desk i picked up at office max with a decent about a dollar sound card its hard to match these babies

Logitech Z-5500 Digital THX Speakers Review

We were pleased to review Logitech's flagship Z-5500 Digital Multimedia System and found out that this system can not only play very loud, but it's an economical way to get a Dolby Digital/DTS receiver in an incredibly small form factor. Recently, Audioholics has been working towards establishing a solid gaming review environment and bringing these additional perspectives to our readers. For...
