The shaver James Bond should be using...

Strengths: Shaves much closer, especially in the neck area. Looks great. No irritation. Very nice, sturdy case. Quick charging. Easy to clean... just rinse under running hot water.

Weakness: Expensive. Shorter battery life. Slightly louder than previous Norelco models.

As most people know, the way you shave differs from person to person. I usually use it when it's completely dry (both the razor and my face). It works well with stubble and longer hair. It's noticeably louder than previous models, but that's due to the casing (or lack thereof) of the blades themselves.

The razor glides very smoothly across all parts of my face and I haven't noticed any irritation, even after shaving for 10 continuous minutes. It works great for the neck area and conforms to the skin much better than previous Norelco razors. Overall, I'd have to say that this razor is best I've used from Norelco.

Best Norelco EVER

Strengths: Fast, close comfortable shave.

Weakness: Trimmer, price(?).

I have always purchased the top of the line Norelco as soon as it was offered and preordered this from Amazon. I was anxious to receive it it as it obviously a major departure from previous models. This is one amazing shaver. The head is extremely flexible and it really hugs the contours of your face. It is also the fastest shaving shaver I have ever used. The heads are one complete unit, so to clean it all you do is open each blade (they hinge) and rinse it. No more disassembling the head or worrying about the combs and blades separating. It recharges in a different way as well....either in the stand or the travel case, but the cord does NOT plug into the shaver itself, it plugs into the stand or case. Each has electrical contact that mate with two small contacts on the side of the shaver. A full charge gives my unit 65 minutes of shave time. It also very comfortable in the hand. Complaints? Some might say the price, but I believe it is well worth the cost. The trimmer is horrible...very small and mounted awkwardly in relation to the head making it difficult to see what you are doing. Norelco offers a 60 day money back guarantee which will give you plenty of time to use try it out.

1090 Arcitec Razor Shaver (Three Heads)

Strengths: close shave, easy to clean

Weakness: high price, limited availability

I have always preferred an electric razor to a blade because I usually ended up cutting my face when using a blade. However, electric razors simply do not provide as close of a shave as a blade. Historically, I have been able to achieve the closest that I could get with a Norelco electric razor. Each new model seems to be a little better. This particular razor is no exception. Along with a serious departure from the traditional style, comes a closer shave for both my face and my neck. And, after all, that is all that I am really looking for.

Closest Shave with Norelco 1090 Arcitec Razor

Strengths: This shaver really shaves close. I was amazed the first day I used it, it was fantastic.

Weakness: Timmer is only shortfall, though usable, the large head on the razor sometimes makes it awkward to use the trimmer at certain angles. Would be better if popped out further.

My wife sometimes would ask me did I shave today? Seems I would miss neck hairs all the time with my old traditional Norelco of which I use three different ones. I have been looking for the perfect electric for years, have tried foil, wet shave, dry shave and other Norelco razors. Nothing gives as close a shave as the Arcitec, almost as close as a blade. Larger shaving head helps give faster shave as well.

It is comfortable to hold, either up close to the head or lower on the handle. Cleaning is a breeze with the three separate compartments that don't fall apart when opened. Just rinse under hot water each day then let dry.

Charge should be enough for 2 weeks or more of shaves when on the road or on vacation. Comes with a very nice travel case/charger too.

The trimmer is usable, but only comes out about 1/8 inch. I did find it hard to angle with the large shaving head in the way to trim eyebrows for instance, but it did work just fine, but forget using it to trim any nose hairs ;)

Not your fathers Norleco

Strengths: Extended battery use, handle has nice feel

Weakness: Really work to get close shave

My father introduced me to Norelco razors in the 1960s and I have used them from day one. I was looking forward to this new style and have had mine for over two months. In my opinion it takes longer to get as close a shave as with my Norelco 9195 soft touch. Although the Arctic heads seen to flex they do not seem to have the reflex action of the floating heads as on the 9195. Both razors are expensive but for my money I will take my fathers style razor any day.
