1 key stops working

Strengths: part of a pretty good system

Weakness: 1 key stops working, displays go out after a few months

Everything in this handset is promising, BUT as other reviewers have noted the '1' key stops working AND the display deteriorates and starts flickering. I think a competitive company should make their own version of the product, as there is a small business market for this kind of automated attendant system. Only one of 5 failed handsets fell under the warranty period and the one that was repaired by Panasonic under warranty took 8 weeks to fix! Horrible.

I agree with you completely. The #1 key stopped working on 3 of my telephones. Phones last about a year before you have to throw them in the garbage. Panasonic's technical support in Manila is of no help and said they don't get involved in business phones.

My #1 key is extremely sticky on one handset and the mic in the other handset went out within first year or two. I have to use the headset only on the second handset for people to hear me talk.

Too bad. It is a great starter multiline system except for these problems.

Panasonic KX-TGA400B Cordless Handset

Strengths: None

Weakness: #1 on handset keypad stops working.

I have seen several complaints on the internet that the #1 on the handsets stops working rendering them useless. I have this phone and I highly recomend that you do not buy it. I called Panasonic and they have have no solution other than paying them to fix the problem they created.

I have personally used this in my office phone system (Panasonic's model KX-TG4000B) in my office for 3 years without a single problem. The price and quality are outstanding for a small business who doesn't want to spend a lot of money on a IDNX or other high-dollar, fancy phone system. The system has 4-line capability and voice mail boxes as well. It has been suberb concerning the costs of other alternatives I looked into.

I have 7 handsets and two of them experienced the same problem with the #1 key.

We have three phones for our office and one of the phones has a problem with the hearing.

The second phone '1' button does not work.

We have had them for 8 months.

I used this system for now one year.
One of the 4 lines is now dead.
One out of 5 heandsets is dead.
The #1 key on all other usints does not work well.
It was a nice price and has nice features - when it works.

Funny - My #1 key on the handset still works, but barely!! You have to press it several times to get it to work. What a strange problem, that everyone seems to have. Other than that, the phone system works very well. I agree that someone should market a new system for small home based businesses. I would recommend fixing the #1 key, and also allowing the user to establish their own extension numbers. Right now, you're stuck with using extensions 1, 2, 3,...9. It would be nice to have extension 301 or extension 220, or whatever you select. Also, when it's on Auto Attendant mode, it doesn't ring outloud to prepare you that a call is coming in. It only rings when they dial your extension number and you have very limited time to answer it before it goes into voice mail. Conversely, I have the Auto Attendant turned OFF and use the regular voice mail system to simply pickup the call with a prerecorded message. I can then hear when a call is coming in, and then get near my handset to answer the call when they dial extension 1. However, I only get about a ring and a half before it goes to voice mail. But for me this setup is best. Lastly, the new system should not force the caller to dial the # key after the extension number. No other large company voice mail systems use the # key so some people cannot figure out how to dial my extension. No matter how you record the pre-recorded message, some people just don't listen and they just dial 1 rather than 1 followed by the # key. Other than those gripes, I do think it is a good system that has been dependable for my business over the past 2.5 years.

Owner of 2 very good auto repair shops in Fort...

Strengths: Built in phone to phone intercom, good signal for a full block from my business(1500 feet), very clear reception.

Weakness: #1 Key stops working after 4-5 months, and on the phones that #1 has worked longer get staticy, I can hear but my customer can not. I still have 18 dead handsets out of warranty in the last 5 years.

If Panasonic would make the case a little more tough (rubber case), build in a heavier duty belt clip instead of the clip on one that actually works pretty good, fix the #1 key problem, the word would get around and Panasonic would be the winner!
