Perfect match made in heaven for my xbox 360 & PS3

Strengths: 3 Hdmi ports, bright screen, and beautiful black shiny/glossy finish and screen.

Weakness: The glossy finish shows dust on the TV very well, and a tiny glare from the screen.

This TV is simply beautiful. This TV has a very shinny glossy finish, and the screen is very reflective as well. If you are going to be placing this TV near/facing a window, or anywhere that will have a lot of light, the Samsung LN-T4061 might be a better choice, as that model comes with a matte finish and not as a reflective screen. When I compared the 61 and the 65 series side by side, the 61 series had no glare/reflection, while the 65 series had noticeable glare, but it was not enough to bother me. I do notice some glare at home, but is not as reflective as my Sony rear projection TV. The reflective screen of the 65 series is also what helps increase the contrast levels to 15,000:1 compared to the 61 series with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. The shinny glossy/reflective frame and screen of the 65 series is what makes the look of the TV a lot more attractive than the 61 series in my opinion. The only negative about the glossy frame other than the tiny glare is that dust is quite noticeable, and I am consistently wiping down the TV. Either my home is quite dusty, or this TV creates a lot of static to attract dust!

This TV has 3 Hdmi 1.3a ports. I have a PS3 (for Blu-ray), an xbox 360 (for gaming), and a Toshiba HD-A3 (for HD-Dvd) connected to all 3 Hdmi ports. I never knew how amazing High Def movies were, until I watched them on this sammy. Prior to this, I was using my 4/5-year-old Sony rear projection TV that did 1080i, but this TV really showed me what I was missing out on!!!! (1080p, the high contrast levels, and the vivid bright colors!) I don’t even have to worry about image retention and image burn-in on this LCD (a common problem with plasmas and rear projection). The detail and clarity that I get from my HD players are amazing! Now I need to get HD Cable. The TV is very bright, and it helps during daylight when I have my curtains open. When watching HD movies, I can see all the imperfections of the actors, such as acne, blemishes, peach fuzz, arm hairs etc!!! This TV is also great for gaming. There is no ghosting, and is much more enjoyable to play, considering I was only able to play at night on my Sony due to the glare! My eyes do not strain anymore to play games during the day.

I do not know if this TV is able to change its refresh rate to 24Hz, nor how well its de-interlacing capabilities are, but in my opinion, it does an amazing job. The techs at Samsung seem to be clueless on their products, as some of them have said that this TV does do 24Hz, while others have said no over the phone! Just remember to get this TV that was build after June, hearing that there had been some issues with this TV that was built before then from the AVSforums. To check, look at the 8th and 9th place/digit on the serial number on the box… and make sure that it is after P6. (xxxxxxxP6xxxxx). Mine said P9 (xxxxxxxP9xxxxx) for September, and PA=October, PB=November, PC=December... according to some members on the AVSforums!

I encourage you to check out these TVs at your local retail store, but beware that the TVs are not calibrated out of the box, and set to display higher than normal brightness to combat against all the store lighting. In addition, all the TVs on display showing the same picture/show are usually sharing the same source from a single line that feeds the picture to all the other TVs, which can lead to a degraded level of picture quality.

Overall, I have no regrets with this TV for the value I get considering the price/quality of this TV. Obviously there are better TVs out there, and also lesser ones out there. Considering how quickly TV technology progresses, it is kind of like Moore’s law somewhat, where a new generation of TVs are consistently coming out every 12-18 months. In a couple of years, like what happened to my Sony rear projection; this TV too will look bad in the future, but today…. I am happy with my TV.

I can't look away

Strengths: The picture quality is brilliant, amazing, stunning, and jaw dropping! Firmware can be upgraded via USB.

Weakness: Tiny TINY bit of glare due to shiny surface, ATSC tuner reception gets a FEW less channels than the one on my PC.

WOW. This TV screen is near perfect. Anything larger would have been ludicrous (the 40 inchers look tiny in the store, but they're HUGE when you get em home).

If you're thinking of going with a cheap Vizio or Westinghouse, don't do it! I work in the games industry where we have many HDTV's all around the office, and the Samsungs are far and away the prettiest.

I'll admit we don't have any of the super-premium brands (Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer), but the Samsungs are an amazing value for a reasonable price.

So far I've tried it with the following inputs:

Over the Air HD -> looks really great. I live in a metropolitan area, so a cheap pair of $20 rabbit ears gets me about 20 digital channels. There is some artifacting, but I *think* it is due to compressed signals over the air.

Over the air analog channels looked snowy and bad but they still looked 100% better than my old CRT. Which is quite a feat for an LCD.

XBox 360 over HDMI looks phenomenal. You may want to turn down the brightness or fiddle with the dynamic contrast for long play sessions, because it can be like staring in to the face of the sun (a vivid beautiful sun).

Standard DVD over XBox 360 (with 1080p upconversion) also looks great.

The audio is just fine. Anyone dropping $1500+ on a TV will probably want to get fancy speakers too, but the audio is perfect for my apartment (neighbors don't like heavy bass).

Worth the 16.99% APR on my credit card bill?

Yup!

**** LNT4065F - AMAZING LCD !!!! **** WOW!!

Strengths: Picture is crystal clear! HD channels pop out! Standard channels look very good. Run it through a 5.1 or better Theater System and it will amaze you!! WOW!

Weakness: Sound could be better but is still very strong. This LCD deserves 5.1 surround or better.

I did a massive amount of homework for months before I came to the conclusion that this is the best TV out there.
1080P with 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a 10-bit video processor. Only 40 incher out there with this high of contrast... MAKING FOR A CRYSTAL CLEAR PICTURE.
I am running an OPPO DV-980H Upscaling DVD player. WOW!!
Do your homework. Until the HD/Blu-Ray Wars settle down,
Oppo is the very best DVD Hook up! www.oppodigital.com... I bought my set from Amazon. Great service and fantastic price! No Tax and free shipping. Wait for a Sunday night on Amazon and you'll get the best price and free shipping. Can't say enough about this LCD! It's the very Best and 3 HDMI hookups! Go for it!! You will not be disappointed! Super LCD!!

Samsung 4065f- A BUY!!!!

Strengths: Image has been excellent, with no flaws seen after one month of use--Amazon has it now for only 1709!

Weakness: It was taller than I expected so I had to buy a knew tv stand to put it on.

I did extensive research and wanted a LCD for life expectancy and size over a Plasma. My wife and I wanted a 40 inch because of the small apartment that we live in. This TV has met and exceeded all the desires that we had. I play tons of Xbox 360 and have switched between both the VGA and component connections. We recently connected a comcast HD receiver and the pictures are phenomenal. Discovery channel makes you feel like you are really their, but one of the best things that I have noticed (and was scared of before) is that the standard definition shows do not look bad at all. I would say that they look almost the same as our last non-HD TV. I love the many options for ports to plug things in. I did have a problem that the VGA slot only has a headphones in-line so I had to buy some a cord to convert my basic 2 plug audio cord into it, but that was the only problem. Movies are almost to die for. They are fantastic. It is all a personal preference, but I would choose this TV again and think it is the best one on the market!

One of the best out there

Strengths: Outstanding picture, great built-in sound, HDTV is amazing...

Weakness: None I can think of.

I bought this set 4/28/07 at J&R. I intended to buy the LNT-4061F but when I got to the store the salesman showed me this model and for $75 more I got this TV. I am totally impressed with this set and it looks like the sound and remote control issues have been resolved. In the end, I paid $1999 for this set, including the 8.37% NYC sales tax. Couldn't be happier.

Samsung LN-T4065F 40" LCD One of the best

Strengths: Sharp image, great sound, excellent contrast and good price

Weakness: none so far.

I've been researching on HDTV for months and then I finally decide on this Samsung LN-T4065F. For its price (with 15,000:1 contrast ratio, image is as good as a plasma). I play a lot of games so plasma is definitely out of my choices. Sony's Bravia is great too except for the price, unless money is not an issue. Some people complain out clouding issue and the blue light under Samsung logo but I don't see any clouding from my unit and the blue light, it doesn't really bother me. Before I have Onkyo's SR800 sound system, the sound comes out from the TV is surprisingly good. I have no complain for this TV at all, on the other hand, I highly recommend getting this TV.

Samsung LNT-4065F

Strengths: Picture perfect. Blacks are strong. Especially important for LCD

Weakness: Glare. Same as Plasma sets

This set is all you want from a HD TV. The blacks are strong and the colors vibrant right out of the box. Like plasma sets due to the clear screen you will get reflexions in bright rooms. Unlike plasma you don't have to worry about burn in. Since just about all stations have a banner or logo on and baseball games show a banner I was concerned with plasma. With plasma they never tell you how long a banner or logo can be on the screen before burn in occurs. I compared this set with Sony's XBR3 and found it equal to better. The best part I saved $800 over Sony.

Samsung LNT-4065F

Strengths: Price was great. Very nice picture, especially HD pictures, comcast HD Discovery 1080i looks pretty. Nice black glossy finish though a bit glare. Lighter weight compared with some other brands.

Weakness: frame a bit glare, but it is okay.

40 inch is slightly small for my home, if you have large living room, may consider 46 inch. Using vga cable contact to my laptop, looks great. Regular DVD player shows just so-so pictures, may consider buying a HD dvd player later on. LCD is 16:9, some channels are 4:3, hard to fit the screen, wish get more 16:9 HD channels. Only Channels with reslutions higher than 720 look good.

Samsung LNT4065

Strengths: Great picture quality. Very nice black glossy finish.

Weakness: Leaves finger prints on glossy frame when installing.

Very great LCD TV! Very satisfied with the TV and purchasing through price grabber. Finger prints on frame cleaned up nicely with cloth provided by manufacture. I also mounted TV on the wall. This was somewhat of an easy process. I highly recommend this TV because it has overall great picture quality, easy set up, user friendly and nice looking frame.

Fantastic TV! Couldn't be happier with this purchase!

Strengths: Great picture. I love the glossy finish. I was waiting for the price to drop to a reasonable level and now that it has there is no reason not to get this tv.

Weakness: From what I hear, the audio ain't that great. I haven't tried it yet. Seriously, who buys a tv like this without a home theater system anyway.

I agonized over which tv to get for a while. Go ahead and do your research, you won't find more happy customers with any other set. If you can get away without spending as much as some of the retailers are asking you'll be very happy with your purchase. Samsung makes fantastic tvs and they are always leading the way with value when they come out with one. Sony doesn't hold a candle to the quality, and will charge you more for less features.

Best HDTV for the price

Strengths: 15000:1 contract with 120Hz and at a great price. The black looks like black and it's light weight. We have this one for your bedroom. Works great with Video Gaming like the Wii also.

Weakness: Setting up best color setup. I wish there were 3 default settings instead of 3 presets.

Having spend 4 months before getting a SAMSUNG HDTV on the last Sat. before Xmas in 2007, was quite a challenge.

Just got this HDTV for about 2 months and it has been great so far.

There's a few challenges in learning the remote but setting up the right color combination. After playing with it, I was able to figure about pretty much everything.

I recommend this one. We looks thru many of ones, SONY, SAMSUNG, LG (not good quality), Phillips and Panasonic.

Advantage over Sony for contract and USB firmware upgradeable. You can get new features if new menus or options came about if it has this USB combination. Some of Sharps has this USB options also.

Crystal clear picture 40

Strengths: Picture clarity, ease of operation, multiple inputs

Weakness: None so far

Over Thanksgiving, I impressed with my cousin's new Panasonic 50" plasma (1080p). At first, I was convinced I wanted the 42" version. After doing my homework, I found the Samsung 40" LDC. It also had 1080p resolution, but it had more inputs. Besides 3 HDMI's, its got a PC input and a USB input. This means that I can use the LCD as a computer monitor and also put my pics up as a screensaver through the USB connection. The quality of the HD broadcasts through Comcast is fantastic! Overall, I'm very satisfied. $1,250 delivered. Go for it!

Probably one of the best LCD tv's on the market, but...

Strengths: Good picture quality when viewed from straight-on, probably one of the closest-to-plasma quality LCD sets available.

Weakness: Picture quality suffers when not viewing this tv from directly in front.

This tv looks fantastic turned on or off with its sleek black finish. I bought this set after returning a 4061 and can definitely say that when looking at the two tv's straight on from the center, the 4065 has much greater contrast, also colors are a bit more vivid. The gloss screen may be what helps accomplish this.

Although the gloss screen reflects a lot when the tv is turned off, I am using this set in a room with lots of windows and have noticed no glare off of the actual screen when the set is turned on.

Colors, espescially flesh tones, do not look nearly as true when viewed from even a slight angle on this set. sure, you can still see the picture, but the viewing angle of this set is definitely not comprable to a plasma tv. I went against a plasma tv because I did not want to have to worry about burn-in, and can say I am happy with my purchase.

This set handles standard definition 4:3 signals relatively well. They are definitely watchable from a viewing distance of 6 feet. Black bars on the side of 4:3 content do not look black when viewed anywhere other than straight-on. If you go to the side of the set and look from there they are very washed-out grey looking. This is true of most lcd sets, however, so I will just learn to live with it.

This display looks great hooked up to a computer or laptop thru the VGA port at 1920x1080 resolution.

Sound on this set is kind of hollow, but there is an EQ where you can change it to an extent. Most people investing this much in a tv will purchase a separate sound system anyway.

Great TV!

Strengths: One of the BEST tv's available for the price and it's "Energy Star" rated.

Weakness: None except it is a dust catcher, since the shinny black edges & stand shows everything.

I had fully planned to buy a Plasma for several months, but I noticed on Price Grabber they had some LCD's with a energy star rating. This prompted me to look at the advantages of a LCD. The plasma I was looking at didn't have a VGA plug to take advantage of internet access. All of the reviews led me to Samsung products.

Advantages are many, but the items below are what I have found this last week:

Great sharp picture, colors are super right out of the box.
I have a Avia CD program to make fine tuning adjustments.
Menus are easy to navigate
Power and volume can be controlled by Dish satellite remote
40 inch screen size is easily viewed from 14 foot room.
Very bright screen and can be viewed even in a bright room

the best TV I ever had

Strengths: the quality of the picture is amazing,

Weakness: none so far

I bought this TV in the end of July 07. When I went to the store I was going to buy Sony. Then I saw two 40" TV's on the wall next to eachother and one was Samsung and the secon one was Sony. The differene that I saw was that Samsung had for me better quality of th picture and was cheaper from Sony by few hundred. I decided to go with Samsung and I dont regret it. I love the TV. Now I watch TV more that I usded to.

Sweet TV

Strengths: Sharp picture, awesome blacks, built-in HD tuner for OTA broadcasts and unencrypted digital cable, great for gaming, 40 inches is the perfect size - any larger and my eyes would scorch out of my head

Weakness: Slight clouding in top corners, blacks are slightly crushed (picture probably needs just some further tweaking)

Having spent well over a year researching HDTVs, I can say the LNT4065F is the best set on the market today. With it's crisp life-like 1080p image and deep blacks, upscaled DVDs, BluRay movies, and PS3 games are a feast for the eyes. Having experienced zero latency or blur while gaming, I highly recommend this fine TV to gamers looking to make the jump to HD. As we don't have digital cable (yet), the built-in HD tuner is nice for enjoying local HD channels. After reading its specs online or viewing it in a store, some may think its size is a bit small, but once setup at home they'll soon realize 40 inches is actually quite large. It's big enough to draw you into the action, but no so big that it takes over the room. Regarding the shiny screen causing glare, there are two large windows to the right of the TV, and while you can see their reflection during the day, they aren't a bother. Compared to this unit, the glare on our old CRT is much worse. Though my unit has some slight clouding in the top corners, it doesn't really distract from the viewing experience. With time and gentle rubbing with the included cleaning cloth, the clouding has greatly diminished. With certain movies and shows, blacks seem to lose some detail, but with further tweaking to the picture, most likely this can be eliminated. Despite these two small issues, the LNT4065F is a stellar product and well deserving of its five-star rating.

Very nice TV

Strengths: Great look, incredible HD colors, better than most sets when viewing standard TV stations

Weakness: As with all other 1080 sets, it is grainy when viewing non HD stations.

Did a lot of research on 1080 televisions and this one was the best. The picture quality when viewing non-HD television stations is a little grainy, but it's better than any other set I checked out. Another plus is the contemporary design that fits well in our house.

Beautiful Set and Great Looking Picture

Strengths: Contrast, contrast, contrast. Looks, easy of use, and quality of construction.

Weakness: Very slight drag in picture from time to time depending on the show.

We actually purchased 4 different Samsung LCD televisions. a 19 inch, a 23 inch this 40 inch (for the bedroom) and a 52 inch for the living room. All of them are just great. Price is right for the quality. On par with Sony, but for far less money.

One of the best 40

Strengths: sharp, brigtness, contrast, excellent performance

Weakness: no built-in antenna

We have been doing a lot of research on reading various expert and user reviews on 40" ~ 42" LCD HDTVs. Samsung LN-T4065F is definitely one of the best TVs in this range. I don't want to repete what have been said from most of other reviewers. This is the conclusion I got and after buying this TV, my wife and I cannot be more satisfied with this decision. Its excellent picture quality (1080p), above average sound system brings everything you should expect from a top-rated TV.

In addition, samsung's newer models LNT4081F and LNT4071F were recently released so the price of this one is going to drop.

The only complaint I have had so far is that it does not have a built-in antenna to receive HD signals from air.

samsung LNT 4065 F

Strengths: I think the colors are great. I initially compared it with a sony at bestbuy and was blown away by samsung. the 15,000 : 1 contrast ratio makes all the difference.

Weakness: samsung does not send any cables along with the TV!!! that is a bummer. Also i would have liked the sound system to be better.

i absolutely recommend this TV. It is one of the best TVs for the price. unless you are going for a 25000 : 1 or 100000 : 1 contrast ratio. much better that 4061 that i saw in the shop... higher contrast ratio rules
