Loud Washer

Strengths: Good cleaner power, smooth spining cycle, user friendly control

Weakness: Very loud water pump, maintenance headache

This washer is much louder than my 9-year old Kenmore front load washer. The noise is coming from the water pump when it is pumping water out of the machine. The spinning, however, is very smooth at high speed. Controls are very easy to use.

The maintenance seems require a lot of work. You must wipe clean the glass door, rubber seal, and stainless steel drum after each use, in order to prevent mildew. Also, you need to drain the water from the machine every two months.

Sears's sales man claimed this machine does not have the mildew problem. He also claimed the machine should be very quiet. Sears charges 15% restocking fee for return.

WM2016CW WASHER

Strengths: Quiet, easy to operate

Weakness: small capacity

I enjoy this washer for its look, it washes well, i do find it small at times when i want to wash comforters or small rugs. Overall it is quiet and easy to program .

Quiet, Clean and Efficient

Strengths: Quiet, Saves Water and Energy, Easy to Use

Weakness: Weird pipe banging noise when filling with water

LG units get good reviews by Consumer Reports so we took a chance on one for our first front loader washing machine. We have had the LG WM2016 washing machine for about 3 weeks. This machine replaced a 20 yr old Amana which was very noisy. So far it has been great. Easy to use

Buyer Beware!

Strengths: Saves water and energy. Quiet operation. Cleans well.

Weakness: Mildew smell builds up when washer door is shut between washes. The machine broke and is unable to be repaired after seven months.

After seven months of trouble free use, my LG front Loader displayed and IE error code, meaning that water was not entering the inlet valve. After following the instructions in the owner's manual to no avail, we contacted the company. They sent a local LG certified repair service, who found that they needed to order a replacement part, which took a week to arrive, since it came from Korea. When that did not work, they tried again with another part and then again...all on the instruction of LG's Tech Services. Each time the repairman came, he had to consult tech services, who gave him instructions on what part to order next. It was a needlessly long process which has taken about a month now. The repair service was finally able to submit its report stating that the machine was unable to be repaired and I still have to wait several days for LG's investigative department to contact me before I will even find out when I will get a new washer. I was also informed that the warranty date will be the same as when I purchased the washer. LG's cusomer service is sluggish and inefficient. The product's durability is definitely questionable. I would be leary about buying this washer.

Enjoying our WM2016CW LG Front Load Washer!

Strengths: Easy installation, user friendly, easy to understand user instructions, a lot quiter during spin cycle than our old top loader, cleans clothes well, energy and water efficient

Weakness: The drum capacity could be bigger. Wash cycles are longer than I am used to.

One week and 5 loads later we are quite happy with our purchase. Installation was very easy, took about 10 minutes to get everything up and going, with the help of the Sears delivery people, of course. We are especially enjoying the fact that the water use and energy use is considerably less compared to our ancient top loader washer.

Works great! I think..

Strengths: Dries out clothes

Weakness: Long wash cycle, capacity seems smaller than our same size top loader. Shakes house.

This thing is rather pretty and it's fun to watch it wash! Except when you put it on extra high spin and there's a banging noise (CSR was surprised at this sound) even after all leveling attempts have been made and you've spoken with customer service and tried everything else out. It also shakes the whole house, making the chandelier in the dining hall wobble and act like a wind chime ringing to it's own music. The washing machine is also incredibly heavy (175 pounds!!) So if you're thinking about buying, buy with caution. I'm sure it's fine if you keep it on the first floor, but according to the installation people, all of the laundry rooms have been upstairs for them. I'm sure everyone is experiencing the same problems.

We were contemplating returning the product, but that involves hauling it back yourself. As in, pulling down a gigantic 175 pound washing machine down the stairs, into a truck, out of the truck, and back into the store. LG has wonderful customer service though and 4 technicians near my house. They gave me a confirmation number and gave me the list of technicians to call so I could get a more approximate time of arrival. I'm hoping they can fix the machine if there's something wrong. If not, I'm stuck with a huge thing that makes will never have anyone question its presence.


On the cleanliness of clothing.. I have not noticed any difference, however, my mom claims it's not getting the dirt out. I don't know, I'm not the one who usually does the wash.


An update after the technician came in: Basically he suggests us to return/exchange it and of course, there's nothing broken about it. However, that involves a 15% restocking fee with Home Depot. I tried out all of their suggestions including the Spin Sense but the shaking is really unbearable still. Depending on who you talk to at Home Depot, they'll tell you that you can't return/exchange it at all, there's a 48 hour return limit (how are you supposed to get a technician out to check first within 48 hours), you can return within 30 days but you have to lug it back to Home Depot yourself, or (my last CSR) they'll come pick it up but there's a 15% restocking fee. In the end, we'll eat the 15% so that our house stops shaking. Make sure to ask reps everything about the machine before you buy. Ours was unfortunately, not in the least bit knowledgeable. If they don't know every aspect about it, find another place that does.

Extremely Disappointed

When the drum is filled with clothes, there is not enough water to properly clean the clothes. No way to control the amount of water. Cycle takes about an hour, way too long. If you use the quick cycle, the clothes do not get clean and rinsed properly. Washed sheets have visible lines from the lack of proper rinsing. Was not aware that I should be using powdered detergent and now have a build up of mold from the petroleum in the liguid detergents. Do not use liquid fabric softener also because of the petroleum. I hang my clothes outside in spring, summer and fall so am unable to use fabric softener. I have cleaned the mold that I can reach but am concerned about what I can't reach. I keep the door open at all times between loads and always have. The first load of the day emitts a rotten egg odor and always has. This is worse now with the mold. I run the tub cleaner on a regular basis which takes 1 1/2 hours. So much for conserving energy. After running the tub cleaner, a musty smell is emitted. The dispenser for the liquid bleach doesn't seem to be working. The load I ran today still had a full dispenser full of clorox non-chorline bleach. I tried to come up with something good about it and I am unable. Very disappointed!!

best front load i have used so far

Strengths: accessible dirt trap, 1000 rpm, intuitive switches layout, handwash mode

Weakness: none so far

after using several front loaders, but i have come to love LG. i can't comment enough on the accessible dirt trap that's connected to the water pump. it was on my wish list for all washers, not just front load. to operate this unit is so simple as 1-2-3 and it's already start working. did i say this thing has a functioning handwashable mode. highly recommended.

LONG CYCLES

Strengths: front loader, easy to operate

Weakness: noisy

I purchased this from home depot 15 months ago..last week started noticing longer cylcle times...today it took the washer 2 hours and 45 minutes to complete a medium load. When I spoke to home depot they said I need to call a repair service since it was older than a year..I did..they said they need to charge me $155 for the service call and it sounds like the timer panel went..another $250...I definately would not recommend this machine to anyone..I am looking at paying $400 to get a practically new machine to work again!

Saves water, energy, and money!

Strengths: Uses water (and therefore energy, for heating the water) very efficiently, thus saving money and the environment; very quiet; cleans really well; rinses well; very good customer service

Weakness: Takes a little while to figure out all the options on the dial but not difficult. Good size, but not for huge loads. Need to dry off seal after every wash, like for all front loaders - not hard.

My new LG washer is great! I love that it is not wasteful with water, while doing a great job on my laundry. It takes a bit longer than my last washer, but is well worth the time as the clothes are washed gently and come out very clean. I am very happy with this washer - no complaints!

NO ENERGY SAVINGS HERE

Strengths: None

Weakness: everything else

what a piece of junk. my energy bill has gone up since purchasing this "energy saver", the clothes is never clean after even two washings, every load goes through 2 or 3 times. this is using a LOT of water. the clothes is so wrinkled that I have to iron EVERYTHING. irons use a lot of energy. save time and money, don't buy this junk, better off to wash by hand.

Do not buy this washer, total waste of money

Strengths: Cool looking in the cherry red but who cares.

Weakness: Very very long wash cycle times and so loud shakes house.

Worked great for approx 1 year and now longer and longer wash times as if the washer has a mind of its' own. The spin cycle is so fast and loud. No matter how much we balance on our slate floor it does not matter. The whole machine moves around. We spent a tremendous amount of money on this washer dryer combo and I am not only unimpressed but I am plain mad. Does anyone else feel like they do not make anything the way they used to

Cleans my 8 y/o muddy football clothes no need for...

Strengths: Cleans xtra large loads clean minimum detergent

Weakness: Problems spinning multiple queen size blankets, xtra heavy loads need to be separted sometimes.

I'm a newbie with front loaders, had a great deal 999 for the pair. Took quite awhile to get use to the one hour wash times, but the amount of clothes that fit in the washer and it cleans with visibly no water is still amazing to me. Sometimes my clothes get mixed up with my son's and I havent had a problem with stains dirt once I learned how to properly set the washer for cleaning needs. Havent had any problems hopefully wont!
