I love it

Strengths: SUPER QUIET, FRONT LOADING, ENERGY WATER & DETERGENT SAVER

Weakness: DIFFICULT TO PUT CLOTHES INTO

I love my new washer. I didn't know it was going to be so quiet. We had it installed today and I was going to try it out and to my amazement I found out that my wife had beaten me to it and had already thrown a load in and it was still running. Our old washer would make so much noise, we couldn't run it and watch TV at the same time. I knew that it would save money on water and electricity too, but you also save TONS of money on detergent... think about it, less water, less detergent needed. How awesome is that? I would have bought one of these years ago had I known that. The only drawback I've encountered so far may just be something I need to get used to using a top loader until now - I had a hard time getting all the clothes in, they kept falling out before I could shut the door. Other than that, 2 loads done already and no problems whatsoever. My mom also told me that the front loaders cause less wear and tear on your clothes than the top loaders. If you're still on the fence, you can get some nice energy star rebates, check your local power company.

I love this washer

Strengths: Super quiet run time

Weakness: Longer cycles

I have been wanting a front load washer for quite a while and when my standard washer died a few weeks ago, I finally bought one. This GE washer is everything I thought it would be and more. It is super quiet, I can actually be on the phone right next to it and hear the conversation. I love that my clothes come out so clean with so little water used. Also I can wash larger loads than before saving me time on laundry. The cycle is much longer than the old standard washer, taking about an hour to complete, but since it does twice the amount of laundry, it really saves me the time in between switching the laundry in and out of the machine. I bought it's sister dryer along with it, and the wash and dry times are scarily right on time with each other, and with the signal that you can set on, the laundry doesn't sit there forever forgotten until you put it in the dryer.
I used to wash laundry about 3-4 times a week as there are only 2 of us in my house. I now only have to do laundry 1-2 times per week.
I did a lot of research on this product before purchasing this item. It is definitely worth the money. I bought mine when it wasn't on sale, but most places offer other deals with this washer/dryer combo. I also live in a town that the electric company allows a rebate for an energy efficient front load washer, so in all I am saving over $200. Other reviews state mention water that gets logged in the door. It is a very easy thing to fix, I just keep a rag in the laundry room to wipe the door off after use. Also there is not a need to buy the pedestal that is offered for an additional $200. It is short, but the door is right up at the top and able to open and use just as you would for a dryer. I love that I now have a flat surface on top that I can fold clothes on. The items are also super light weight, which is great for when we move, I am able to move the washer and dryer around easily if I wish.
The day I got the washer and dryer in I put it to the test, I had laundry piled up from the broken washer so did 5 loads back to back. I then found myself looking for other things to wash. Everything comes out smelling even cleaner than before. My washer also came with a free sample of Tide HE detergent. The detergent is no more expensive than the regular detergent, and the bottle is much smaller, making the entire laundry process more manageable for me.
This washer and dryer are also stackable, leaving for more options for versatility down the road. The kit is only $20, not a bad deal.
All in all, I would recommend this item to anyone who has been dying for a front load washer/dryer set that doesn't want to spend $2000.

the worse machine ever

Strengths: inexpensive

Weakness: doesn't consistantly work

I have had this washer for a month and had 6 service calls. GE does not stand behind product or GE cares. The washer never completes cycles and will stop in different cycles altogether. It can take up to 4 hours to do a load of laundry.Maybe electronics are not the answer and they should go back to turn knobs. My electronic panel has been replaced already and it still doesn't work. Absolutely hate this machine. I am not a
ge fan either.

The best front loader for the money

Strengths: Half the price of comparable front loaders. Saves energy. Great at washing clothes

Weakness: Delayed start only has on setting (8 hours) this is a minor issue.

You can't beat this washer and matching dryer. The washer was about $550 and the matching dryer about $450. I bought them about 5 months ago and my power and water bill have both dropped dramatically. This is my second set of Front Loading washer. My first front loader was a Neptune about 8 years ago. This was a huge mistake. The Neptune had mold issues and ending up blowing a $400 circuit board after about 3 years. I bought this matching GE set for about the same price as the JUST the Neptune washer.
You can't go wrong with this set. It does a great job washing clothes. It's priced right. It uses less water and energy. It has all the bells and whistles of models that cost twice as much.

Great Washer

Strengths: Quiet, reduces drier time, save water and electricity

Weakness: None.

Because of the price this washer is considered an "entry level" washer, but I this washer is big on value. I particularly like the way this washer reduces drying time by eliminating water from the clothes in the spin cycle. The clothes come out of the washer almost dry. Excellent machine!

ONE LARGE PIECE OF Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Strengths: Door leeks water when in service. Door is hard to secure. Rust problems

Weakness: This GE washer is one large piece of crap!Door hinges rusted & had to be replaced by us.. Warrenty & Eended war is a joke ! No coverage for our problems. Door locking problems. Door handle problems.

In just over 1 years time the loader door hinges rusted out. The door rusted threw. The door handle cracked and had to be hot glued in order to keep it in place. The extended warranty was also a piece of crap. When calling in for help about the door & hinge problems, I was told they are cosmetic & the warranty dose not cover the problems I experienced. I had to replace the door hinges my self with piano hinges purchased from ACE Hardware. I have hot glued the plastic door handle about four times now. I took the door apart and sprayed painted the inside with Rest-Oleum Primer paint to stop the rusting. I am now having to replace this piece of crap washer in less than three years. GE You Suck. What ever happened to MADE IN AMERICA WITH PRIDE?Never again will I purchase a GE appliance.

good front-load washer

Strengths: competitive price, save on water and detergent

Weakness: cannot automatically adjust water temperature, longer cycle

This washer has all the basic functions you need and all the advantages you expect from a front-load model. Its low price makes it stand out from its competitors. You don't really need special detergent. One fifth of the amount of regular detergent you used in top-load washer will do the job. Because the washer cannot sense the temperature of incoming water to make automatic adjustment, you need to be careful if you live in an area with very cold winter.

A good, solid washing machine

Strengths: quiet cycles, space saver, variety of cycles, price, front loader , price, and stainless steel drum.

Weakness: Plastic seal requires routine care to prevent mold

I have been sold on front loading washing machines ever since I purchased my first one back in 1999, a first generation Maytag Neptune. Well, I learned alot about the pros and cons of front loaders from the Neptune. About a month ago my Neptune stopped functioning so I had to replace it. I shopped around and debated whether to spend the extra money to get a front loader knowing the problems I had with the Neptune.

Well, I'm very pleased I decided to stick with the front loader. Nothing beats the convenience and ultimate savings of a front loader. I shopped for the best price initially and happened upon this model. The price was right on the money (Home Depot for $539.00) compared to the other fancier, pricier models.

So, I've had this model for about a week and with 2 kids and a husband I have been doing alot of laundry! This model is a nice, compact size and it fits nice in my laundry/utility room. The drum size is big enough to accomodate a lot of towels or comforters and bedding or just alot of clothes I need to do - This allows me to do fewer loads. Yeah! I do not have to worry about setting the water level because this model does it automatically to use the right amount of water every load.

Another good feature is the spin cycle - I can set it to different speeds from no spin at all to fast depending on waht I'm washing. Now, with the faster speeds the clothes come out almost dry which cuts down on my dryer time - a huge savings in electricity!

The delay feature only allows you to set it for 8 hours - with the Neptune I got spoiled with a variable time delay depending on when I started the load and when I needed it done. However, I do not consider this a negative, it is just something I need to be aware of when and if I need to use it.

Now, the biggest downfall with the old Neptune I had was the plastic door seal would not properly drain the water so it collected and led to massive mildew. There was a fix for it a few years ago but it never really took care of the problem. So, heads up for anyone buying this model - the door seal is plastic as well. This is not a big deal to me anymore since I know now how to take care of it properly! What I have been doing with this GE model is to keep a rag handy and after every load I wipe any excess water from the door and the plastic seal. Then I wipe the detergent and fabric softener casing. Then I leave them both open til the next time I do laundry. This is not a big deal for me since i have the washer in a separate room away from foot traffic. This may seem too labor intensive but it literally takes me 20 seconds and it is worth it in the long run - And this GE unit really does not collect much water - it's more like droplets.

So, all in all I do like this model. I have not had any repair issues or tech problems so I can't comment on the long term integrity yet. It is a very simple and nice unit for anyone like me who is on a budget. This model allows me to choose various wash cycles, spin cycles and a few options for stain or even and extra rinse or spin. I would recommend this model.

Okay - I have now been using his washer for just over a month and I'm just loving it! I have been consistent with wiping the seal and detergent casing and I have not had any issues of mildew. For anyone with a front loader, not just this unit, I believe the extra seconds it takes to wipe the water away is worth it in the long run! I have not had any mechanical problems either.

Excellent Washer, great price, lower your energy...

Strengths: Washes clothes well, leaves them almost dry, uses a lot less water, automatic settings, capacity

Weakness: None thus far

I purchased this washer after my traditional, top loader died. I wanted it primarily for the Energy Star Rebate, but came away with a machine that has revolutionized the way I wash clothes. It has cut my wash/dry time by 60% by reducing the number of loads (due to the huge capacity) and, most importantly, cutting drying time by a ton.

Buy this washer. It may be on the low-end of the front-loaders in terms of price and fancy features, but you won't be disappointed.

opinion on WSSH300GWW front loading washer

Strengths: very gentle on all cycles, uses little water, quiet for the most part

Weakness: When the spin cycle starts is when the machine makes it's most noise

We got our machine at Home Depot, they had the best price. I stuff it with towels all the time and they come out clean. So far I've been happy with it for the cost. Very user friendly even for the kids!
