Good receiver at a decent price

Strengths: Powerful receiver, sleek design, lots of connectors. On-screen graphics are easy to read. 7.1 receiver.

Weakness: The unit needs a firmware update (using a serial cable) which in itself can be a frustrating experience. Also the remote is hideous.

I've bought this receiver on sale after extensive research. I was pleasantly surprised by it clean, full sound and very nice design. The unit needs to have its firmware updated which can be done directly from your computer if you have a serial cable; otherwise needs to be sent to an authorized service. The firmware updating process is a frustrating experience, but I managed to get it done. EzSet/EQ is a hit or miss. Didn't work for me. The receiver can get very hot, so it needs to be placed in a well cooled space. Overall this is a great receiver for the money and I would recommend it to anyone that wants good quality at a decent price.

Whoa, 55 watts per channel sounds like this?!

Strengths: Amazing sound quality, sleak design, connectivity.

Weakness: Poor instruction manual.

I recently purchased this receiver amid mixed reviews because the price was good and the Harman/Kardon name carried such prestige. Although I knew HK always rates its wattage per channel lower than other receivers I was still unsure whether it would deliver the power that I wanted... well it does! Though some reviews are unfavorable they all agree that the sound quality is excellent and it is (and powerful too). The 347 delivers the clarity of sound I would expect at high dB levels and yet still has enough power and control to drive the bass for warm sound at low dB levels. Have not had any connectivity issues yet. Quite a nice receiver.

HK Better Than Ever

Strengths: Sound quality, easy to use, and multiple functions

Weakness: None

Once again Harmon Kardon delivers sound quality second to none. There are a lot of extras that are on the receiver. If you want a great receiver to start your home theater experience then this is the one. A little pricey but well worth it.

Wonderful Reciever

Strengths: Easy Setup, Easy to use, Looks nice, Incredible sound quality

Weakness: A little short on inputs

I really like this receiver. It was extremely easy to set up thanks to well laid out inputs, and instructions. It was also easy to adjust the speakers just using a special microphone it comes with to balance it properly. The only problem I had was that it does not have an input for a record played, but those aren't used much so it is not a big problem.

Very Good Receiver

Strengths: Great sound quality; HDMI sound

Weakness: Center speaker randomly loses sound

The sound on this receiver excellent; don't be fooled by the apparently modest power rating, Harman Kardon specifies the true power and I can confirm that this is more than enough.

The receiver is very easy to setup and has all the connections that you need. The main advantage is the fact that you can listen to uncompressed digital surround sound. I have connected to my PS3 and watching Blu-Ray movies is really a wonderful experience.

I am not rating this receiver 5-stars because of a random problem that has happened once a week in average: the sound from the center speaker suddenly disappears for no reason; switching channels solve this problem, but it is quite annoying when it happens (not annoying enough to make go back to my old receiver, though...).

Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase; I hope that Harman Kardon will solve the above problem by a firmware upgrade sometime soon.
