ugh...Microsoft & Logitech...

Strengths: Will it work...yea... Works well with my Black 360 Controller with Vistax64 and HALO2...but...

Weakness: Microsoft apparently never thought that people would have non-Microsoft USB peripherals-hates my G5 mouse

Well u decide whether its work the trouble to make this work...hopefully Microsoft will fix this sometime in the future with simply a patch or something...but for now I need to unplug my Logitech G5 at startup and use my old PS/2 mouse for my XBox Wireless Controller to work...It serves its basic function for me but is simply extremely annoying

No problems here

Strengths: Does exactly what it's supposed to; easy to install and set up; small and unobtrusive; works great!

Weakness: Nothing really...

The Microsoft Wireless Receiver for PC works exactly as it should, allowing my to use my 360 controller and wireless headset on my PC. This breaths new life into racing and platforming games and is a must buy for those emulating and playing console games on their PC. The 360 controller is, in my opinion, the most comfortable game pad ever created and works great on PC as well as 360. Some games (and all of the Games For Windows branded games) will automatically recognize the controller when its turned on and map their controls to it automatically. The Reciever itself works great; there's not much that can be said about it. It works, and that's all that matters.

It's great, but it's not without flaws.

Strengths: Devices are responsive with it and there were no issues running it.

Weakness: Setting it up was a pain, and sound quality from a connected Xbox 360 headset, wired or wireless, was low and kept cutting in and out.

If you have an Xbox 360 already, and use the same controller on it that you plan to use with this receiver, plan on getting unexpected exercise if you switch between them a lot. You have to manually reconnect the controller each time. It sounds like I'm making a big deal out of it, but the same mechanism that turns on the controller while it's connected to the Xbox 360 also turns the console on, and turning it on is required before connecting it to the receiver. You don't have to worry about it after the first connect, but it is required for each time it's connected with the Xbox 360 as the last device it was connected to. Also, there's no way to turn off the controller but to let it sit for 20 minutes, which is a lot of wasted batteries if you're using alkaline batteries as included with the wireless controllers. It would probably be a good idea to buy a rechargeable battery pack, or else you'll find that you'll be pressing the battery release button a lot on the top of the controller.
All of this, though annoying, is worth the quality of the wireless controls. The controllers worked just as well as on the Xbox 360. I recommend this if you already own an Xbox 360 with wireless controllers or can't live with using a wired Xbox 360 controller on their computer. I don't recommend this to anybody who doesn't have an Xbox 360 and can get the wired controller for less than the cost of this receiver and a wireless controller together.

xbox 360 wirlesss gaming receiver

Strengths: very easy to setup, strong signal

Weakness: no

I did not get any problem like others at all during setup process, such as the issue between the receiver and logitech wireless mouse, and the issue of usb power. Actually it was very easy to get it to work. I mainly use it with MAME as my xbox 360 console can not be used to play homebrew games. so far so good.

Excellent

Strengths: Compact, easy to use

Weakness: none

This little device is a must if you plan on using any of your Xbox 360 gears on your Windows XP/Vista PCs. It supports all of the wireless products from the 360; the wireless controller, wireless headset, and wireless steering wheel. It works 100% perfect. The Xbox 360 controller excels 99.999% of all the PC game pads and you can now use this near flawless pad on your Windows PC, wirelessly! Go out and get one, you won't regret it.

Awesome accesory for any PC

Strengths: Easy setup, lets you use great Xbox 360 controller for all PC games!

Weakness: None

This is a great accessory and I'm so glad Microsoft made it. You can now get this packaged with the controller as the "PC controller" but there is no difference, this little gadget lets any Xbox 360 wireless controller work for any PC game. If you like the Xbox controller as much as me then this is a cheap way to have it on the PC as well.

Works as advertised

Strengths: Now can use xbox 360 controller with my pc games like devil may cry 3. :) Setup is easy.

Weakness: Needs better software, some sort of key mapping would be nice.

It has been said it does not work with vista, but hopefully microsoft will release updated drivers for that. Also hope they will release better software, meantime there are 3rd party software that can do key mapping.

great way to add console peripherals to your system

Strengths: -uses great xbox 360 console peripherals - controllers, guitar, steering wheel, etc -"games for windows" will recognize and map buttons automaatically -works on mac osx as well (3rd party driver)

Weakness: -a bit pricey - $20 will buy you a dedicated controller, etc for a PC. especially if you don't already have a 360 and need to buy a controller as well.

this is a great way to add an excellent controller to your pc system. best thing, you may already have a 360 or you can make use of the controller you buy now for a future 360 system. this adapter supports multiple xbox 360 peripherals. the documentation for it is a bit scant and i think the software/driver package could be more robust (uses the standard windows game controller control panel).

Niche product...for now

Strengths: Works seamlessly with the Xbox 360 controller. Affordable.

Weakness: Severly limited palette of games that are fully compatible

This is another babystep by Microsoft in an attempt to unify PCs, TVs and videogame consoles. As such, it works effortlessly with the Xbox 360 controller on my Windows XP machine. The issue is with the limited number of games that support this controller natively. Any PC game with the "Games for Windows" logo supposedly works right out of the box. Older games? It's spotty. Would be nice if Microsoft gave us a utility that would let us map the controller buttons to these older games.

Flawless!

Strengths: Everything!

Weakness: Need to buy an extra wireless pad if you have a 360 console as well.

I have only tried this receiver with the wireless Xbox 360 gamepad and it works flawlessly. I used to use a wired 360 pad with my PC and it would sometimes move the left analog stick slightly by itself in some games. This wireless receiver with a wireless pad completely elimate the issue. The only down side I could think of is that you'll need to buy an extra wireless controller if you have a 360 system. Otherwise, you would need to pair your controller everytime you switch between PC and 360 usage.

Strengths: Do i really want to have seperate game controllers for my computer and my consoles?

Weakness: i ilke em with polka dots

play your computer games with the xbox360 wireless controller...there is really nothing else special. great idea and keeps things neat and wire-free. supports 4 controllers and plugs directly into USB for fast connectivity. i love it.

Small handy gadget

Strengths: Play games using xbox accessories.

Weakness: Long cord.

So far I'm pretty happy with this product. I have 4 xbox 360 controllers so I can always use the spare one to play games on my PC. Soon I will get the xbox 360 wireless wheel so I can use it to play need for speed on PC as well. It's a very thoughtful product.

Good product

Strengths: Small form factor, easy to install

Weakness: None so far

I bought the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver right after it's released. It's very small and easy to install. Once installed, you can link up your Xbox 360 wireless controller with it and then play PC games that support the Xbox 360 controller (many newer games do: e.g. Rainbow Six Vegas).

The concept is great since it allows you to use the best game controller. Older games don't support it yet, so you need to get a gamepad mapping software. But newer and future PC games will definitely support it.

Smaller than I thought

Strengths: Fully utilize xbox 360 accessories.

Weakness: Long wire, sometimes awkward.

I'm glad that microsoft released this little thing to hook up my xbox 360 wireless controllers. Now I can play PC Games using xbox 360 controllers as well. The controller itself is probablly the best design in the market so far. It's very responsive and accurate. Now I gotta go get myself a wireless wheel!
