Good drive so far

Strengths: Small form factor, replaces 5th generation ipod video drive

Weakness: None so far

This drive is the same as the Toshiba HDD1764. The MK8009GAH is the model# and the other is the mfr #. In any case, it's basically the same drive as you find in the 5th gen Ipod video. It's just the newer version by Toshiba.

I bought mine to replace a dead drive in my 80gb Ipod video. It fit exactly and installed just like the videos on the web say. While I am concerned that the drive might have a similar life to the original HD in the Ipod, it cost me about half to replace the drive on my own vs. having apple replace the drive.

The ZIF connector is handy, but it's definitely delicate and you want to take your time feeding the connector into slot on the HD. It's just the one connection and the drive is ready to work.

Make sure you flip the black lever catch up before inserting the "cable", then just push it down to lock the connection in place.
