Kensington ValueRAM 128MB PC100 SDRAM

Strengths: Works with my old system

Weakness: none

My older computer is no longer being manufactured and the scanning software from several RAM vendors including Crucial couldn't locate the right kind of memory. So I decided to try Kensington ValueRAM; the price is good, if it didn't work, it would have not been a great loss.

Installing Kensington ValueRAM on my Intel Pentium II 300 MHz (MMX technology) worked the first time.

Kingston Value Ram PC100 128MB

Strengths: Lifetime warranty, easy to install.

Weakness: None.

Kingston web site offers fairly decent install guide. After Carefully planning the install before actually doing it, and making sure I was grounded, installation was easy. The system came up, recognized the memory, and started working a whole lot faster.

Legacy Memory Product

Strengths: Life Time Warranty

Weakness: May be hard to find. eBay?

Once in a while we need to replace or add memory in legacy systems. These may be difficult to get now. Luckily eBay comes to the rescue. There are still a lot of new items available there. For peace of mind I chose to get a brand name item. Kingston products come with life time warranty, which may be an over kill since the legacy system is already on borrowed time, but at least I do not have to worry about this part.
