Strengths: small/compact,sleek/sexy,FM radio,recorder,navigation,battery
Weaknesses: auto. shut off(turns off if not used for about 1min),headphone cord
Summary: The iRiver iFP 790T is a great mp3 player. I have found that it is able to hold about 90 songs at 128 kbs( these are also songs that average to be about 5 min long). The sound is perfectly clear no matter what you are doing( this is a great player for people who are active/workout). The volume on iRiver is great as well, even with the headphones it comes with. The FM radio and the recorder are handy. The radio has the ability to preset stations( not sure how many cause I haven't tried yet). The recording feature is simply a fun gadget that comes with it to me. The program used to download songs is easy to use( and I am pretty useless when it comes to computers). I had to create folders for specific music and than drop it in there( which is pretty cool since you can make your own folder names). The time to download was pretty fast as well. I like the different options you have to choose from for different song playing modes(sfl, play folder, etc. The iRiver is easy to navigate through. Although it can be a hassle to remember when to hold down buttons or press buttons. Another thing i love about this player is that it takes one AA battery and lasts for about 30 hrs in reality. The only things I had problems with were the auto. shut off thing and the headphones. If you pause the song or go to a menu and not press anything for a while it will shut off. This is a helpful feature so you dont waste battery but can be annoying some times. The headphones have ok sound and fit in my ear nicely but the cord leading to the left ear is longer than the one leading to the right ear. For me it sucks because when the mp3 player is in my pocket and the cord gets yanked at all, the earbud comes flying out of my right ear. THIS IS AN AWESOME PLAYER I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE WHO WANTS A AN EXTREMELY GREAT/QUALITY PLAYERR FOR AN OK PRICE WITH LOTS OF FEATURES. IT ROCKS. BOTTOM LINE.

Strengths: Excellent sound quality,
Additional featues - FM tuner, sound recorder,
User's manual
Weaknesses: Is not auto-detected, requires Iriver software,
Design of accessories
Summary: This mp3 player has the best sound among Flash Players. Although 256 MB seems a little less, you can always tune in to the radio. It is very small and light in weight, which makes it suitable for on the go people.
You need the software(which comes with the player) to upload songs. The software is easy to use and has a good instruction manual. The drawback is that I cannot upload songs from my friends' computers.
Accessories - The carrying case looks cheap and its hard to stuff the mp3 player in it. The arm band barely goes around my arm.
Also the FM tuner seems a little shaky.
But overall, the music has an awesome thumping quality and the maximum volume will blow your ears out. I give it a thumbs up.

Strengths: Great sound, easy to use buttons, neck strap is nice, FM stereo, very light
Weaknesses: complicated to transfer files from a CD to the player, but this may just be my own lack of knowledge about MP3 players, armband is a little confusing
Summary: Compared to others on the market, this is one of the best 256MB players I have seen. It only requires one battery, and it is very small and compact. In addition, it has great sound. Once files are in WMA or MP3 format it uses a drag and drop format that is really easy. The only downfalls that I see are the confusing manual for the software (seems to be more instructions than needed for some simple processes and a lack of instruction for the more complicated ones) and the armband (it is a little strange and fairly small.

Strengths: small, compact, great sound,
Weaknesses: file transfer
Summary: Great value for money compared to others looked at & reviewed. Product was quality assurance tested by nephews ages 3 - 7 and it handled it with no problems.
Extremely happy with the quality compared to others reviewed.
Battery life seems good so far as it has been played fairly non-stop since Christmas.

Strengths: long batery life, small and light-weight, good sound quality, tons of useful features (sleep timer, built-in FM tuner w/ recording timer, line-in recording, voice recorder, equalizer....)
Weaknesses: just hard to configure line-in recording volume at first, plastic seems cheap, and color of the face plate can't be changed (not everyone likes red)
Summary: i made a lot of research before buying this product. i'm really satisfied with the overall quality and features of the player.
my friend asked me if i can get her a voice recorder and i bought her the 128 MB a week before i got mine (256 MB). we are both enjoying our players.
i have used mine listening to music and recording some parts of our Church services. the quality of the recording is really good.
the battery life is excellent. it has the longest battery life among the MP3 players in today's market. i replace my rechargeable AA battery every other four days without even draining it.
i have no comment about this product and i strongly recommend this to anyone who is in the market for a flash based player.

Strengths: Well designed, with lots of functions that can be used to customize your listening experience. Well designed cover.
Weaknesses: The player itself is made of plastic which makes it look very easily damageable.
Summary: I've been using this player for about 2 months now and I have not had any problems with it. It's a little tough to figure out how to fully utilize the player's functions while looking through it's manual, but for a person like me, who just listens to the songs just by pressing the play button, that wasn't such a big problem.
I'd say this is one of the best out there.

Strengths: Sound quality is excellent - far superior to any other player and I have tried them all!
Navigation is easy.
Feels comfortable and looks good.
Comes with great accessories.
Weaknesses: Difficult to find one. As with most equipment this size, the text is difficult to read for older people. My almost 90 year old grandmother loves hers, but she can't see what it says on the screen.
Summary: The iRiver IFP-790 is my second iRiver and when it was purchased, we bought it in triplicate. My dad and my grandmother have one. We all love it. My grandmother is converting all her "old" music and I am happy to have the added features and the longer playing time since my other one was 128MB. I have purchased and returned four other brands and still have two that I couldn't return. None of them compare in sound quality to the iRiver. The encoding features work really well. As a test, I connected the Memorex MP3 player headphone out to the line in recording on the iRiver and I was impressed with the sound. The song was a lower volume than the original MP3 the first time around, but then I changed the setting and it was just right. I couldn't tell the original from the encoded. iRiver has done everything right with their firmware because the encoding and decoding are top notch. I can not emphasize enough how much better the quality of the iRiver player is over other players.

Strengths: Compact, easy to use, tons of features, no more CD's (haha)...with 256MB & the price, this is a strong competitor...
Weaknesses: Software is just a file manager & would have like to get a ripper, too!
Summary: Wow, what a bargain. I love this mp3 player. Not only is it compact & light, but it has a voice recorder, FM recorder, FM radio, mp3 player, 256 MB, arm band, and much more. Now I am looking to upgrade my car radio, etc. If your looking for a great gift for a certain music lover, I highly recommend this product.

Strengths: this iRiver has FM radio well as mp3 player, and also voice recording. the sound is just amazing, and the program cd to transfer music is so simple and easy to use. the device is usb 2.0 transferable.
Weaknesses: the plastic cover looks very cheap, and the joystick is to rew/ff songs, cause it's hard to hold on to it. and the device is not extractable with flash cards.
Summary: this mp3 player is perfect for everyone, everyuse. i recommand this, because it's cheap, and the quality of sounding is just too good. the device is stylish, and small enough, and has long lasting battery life with just 1 AA battery. so far, i just love my i-river ifp790,
and probably best mp3 player i had so far. (i had samsung yepp, panasonic, rio)

Strengths: Handy control jog-stick
Weaknesses: Plastic skin looks a bit cheap
Summary: I always use it at my gym with arm band. No matter how I jump and run, it never stop playing. And control pannel is so easy to select options and has a beautiful light every time I touch. It's been the most favorite gadget ever!

Strengths: light, impressive look, quality of audio, features, battery's life, convenience
Weaknesses: quality of case's material, USB port's door a little bit flimsy
Summary: Very good player overall. Only few thing I dont'like first of all is painted plastic case and may be quality of USB port's door (doesn't look sturdy). I'm a little affraid that all this fancy metallic paint will flake eventually. Also I noticed that USB port is very tight, may be it'll loosen up after several uses. Unfortunately supplied firmware doesn't allow the device to be recognized as a removable storage, but with their software you can use it as a storage device. Very convenient arm band, lot of features and relatively easy control.
