Sharp Aquos LC-52D62U 52Strengths: The picture quality of the picture with HD signal is amazingly clear even at close up. The piano finish is clean and classy. The programing and adjustment of the TV spec is easy to use. Weakness: There are no vga input, and not enough component and composite imput. With HD antenna and cable input there seem to have white line either on top or side of screen that requre screen position adjustin This Sharp Aquos 52 is very good for its value and size compare to its competitors. The picture is amazingly clear with HD and DVD input. Certainly having component wire help the quality of the picture. The audio sound very good. It self adjust the volume from analog to digital sound. The surround sound feature is comparable to regular home theater system. The sharp really get you into HD and makes you want to purchase video game system and HD or Blu-ray player to use its full 1080p capability. At first I though this 52" LCD TV is too big for viewing within the 10 ft viewing distance but once you get used to it, you don't want to trade it for a smaller LCD TV. The picture gets better as it is used more and do play with the different video mode that way you can pick the best mode for your viewing pleasure. If you like bright and sharp picture this is definitely the TV for you. 87% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Sharp AQUOS 52Strengths: Looks, this TV/monitor is as good looking as any on the market today at a higher price. It's slimer then the XBR and the pictur quality is as good if not better. Weakness: None so far! It's a great peice of engineering. This is the second AQUOS I have purchased on line this year, and I have to say it's been the best. I love the style and the quality of this Sharp LCD's. More compact than the XBR and I would say more quality and style for the dollar. The quality is fantastic and the picture is awesome with a HD signal. It's picture is somewhat blurred with a over air signal, but I have not seen any LCD of any brand that has a good picture with a poor signal, the sound from the on board speakers is fantastic. I live in the Midwest and the panel was shipped out of New Jersey I was kind of worried about how it would be delivered but it was great. Absolutely NO Damage, the box looked as good as the panel, and delivered to my door NO extra charge. This has been the best experience of my on-line shopping. From the product to the delivery I have to give it 5 Stars! The Best! 84% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Aquos LC-52D62U 52" LCD TVStrengths: Great color and picture. Weakness: No video cables included. This is my first high definition tv and it is awesome! Even the non high definition channels are good. Sharp has really impressed me with how much detail they put into this television. I would highly recommend it to anyone that is considering a HD tv. 84% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Sharp Aquos LC-52D62U 52" LCD TVStrengths: Picture quality, price, ease of use Weakness: None that I've found I ordered this television online about two weeks ago. It performs beautifully and looks great in my living room. I was a little leery about buying something this expensive online, but everything is great so far. Looks great on HDTV channels and surprisingly sharp and clear on conventional TV channels. 83% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Not Real HappyStrengths: Vivid HD, when it works, it is awesome Weakness: The tuner keeps shutting down for some reason...sound stays on, but the picture goes blank, and it is happening more and more. Our 52 inch Aquos appeared to be working very well, however the unit has recently been shutting off and we need to unplug the unit and plug it back in to reset the picture. The Power and OPC LED lights just blink. The on/off buttons simply don't respond. When we contacted Sharp cutomer service, we were told it may be from overheating (which it wasn't) or from an inadequate cable signal (we have Comcast). I figured it may be that, so we waited because I didn't want to have a repairman open up our brand new, 2,500 dollar tv. But it has been happening more and more now, around every 15 minutes,(including watching DVR'd programs which tells me it is not the cable signal) and we are very frustrated. So now I have a tv repairman coming tomorrow and I am staring at a great, black screen. 83% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Defective TV, poor customer serviceStrengths: Seemed like good value. Weakness: TV is defective. Customer service is worse in my opinion. I recently purchased one of these TVs on-line and it was defective out of the box -- with an 18 inch band of white screen-door effect horizontally across the center of the screen. I understand that those things can happen, but I don't understand how a major company like Sharp can have such poor customer service. It is now 2 weeks later and counting, and Sharp has still not fixed the problem. After first telling me they would just refund my money because they did not have a replacement unit, they now tell they will not issue a refund since I purchased the TV on-line. I am now on an indefinite waiting list for a replacement. So, it will continue to be my problem for the foreseeable future. Overall, this has been the worst consumer electronics experience I can recall. Despite the good reviews on this and other products, I personally don't intend to purchase Sharp products again. ** To update this review, Sharp has a replacement TV delivered to my house, about three weeks after my original problem. 81% of readers found this review helpful. Mar 24, 2007 Now that you have your TV replaced are satisfied with the picture and quality of the TV. I would like to know as I am still debating whether to order online or not. It seems the longer I wait the higher the price.

Feb 28, 2008 Do you have time to risk the worst customer service you could imagine? Want to be a victim, not a customer? Don't do it. Buy another brand. Aquos 42" arrived w/o audio. Welcome to Kafka's the Castle and Catch 22 .

AQUOS LC-52D62U 52" LCD TVStrengths: Vivid blacks, extraordinary brightness, PRICE!!!! Weakness: No PC analog input, Only 2 HDMI ports. I was looking at the Sony KDL-46XBR3 46" BRAVIA XBR 1080p high-definition LCD TV it looks great but is cluttered by the side speakers and costs more for less size. For the price for 1080 P and the size of this screen without speakers getting in the way, this is an excellent TV. This TV looks great with the piano finish. 80% of readers found this review helpful. AQUOS LC-52D62U 52" - Just as I expected!Strengths: Sharp (no pun intended) with good contrast. Weakness: If you use a low profile wall mount (mine is only a few inches from the wall), it's hard to get to the inputs. But you know what? I can deal with it. While investigating LCDs for our big room - looking for a 52" screen, I narrowed it down to the 3 "S": Sony, Samsung and Sharp (see my review of the 32" Sharp I purchased). 79% of readers found this review helpful. Aquos 52 LCD (LC-52D62U)Strengths: SEE FIXED BANDING UPDATES BELOW. Film like picture quality on a large set. Incredibly fast refresh rate. Deep and true blacks. Amazing reds. Full 1080P forr Bluray or HD-DVD. Weakness: FIRST SET (10/2006) HAD BANDING PROBLEM (FROM OVERSPRAY ON BACK FILTERS I THINK)- DEALER REPLACED FOR FREE 4/2007 - NOW PERFECT PICTURE. No VGA input. Slow remote response, although not too important. BANDING ISSUE: First panel (purchased from a high-end local retailer from first factory shipments) had to be replaced 5 months later due to the notorious banding problem. I had wide splotchy shaded areas in darker scenes near the top and middle of the picture. Apparent cause (per dealer) was an overspray of plastic coatings on the light filter system (makes sense, right?). Caused by jammed spray nozzle in factory - now since fixed. It was noticeable, not terrible, but for the technology leader in LCD (Sharp Aquos), such defects should not exist in a production model. Still, this was breakthrough technology, and there are no other choices at this quality and size. 75% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Sharp AQUOS LC-52D62U 52Strengths: The picture clarity is awesome! The contrast ratio is very nice! The piano finish is gorgeous! The price was right! Paid $2887 online. no tax... free shipping. The box came in perfect condition! Weakness: No USB Port. A 3rd HDMI port would be nice. Wished there were other digital audio output option. I did a lot of research on this unit. I read about all the banding issues. I haven't had any issues with mine. Then again... my serial # is C6128xxxxx so I think it's one of the new ones that was manufactured after Sharp fixed their banding problems. The TV looks really nice in my living room. The price... and the 1080P is what made me pull the trigger on this one. Even though I've only owned it for one day..... I'm loving it! 74% of readers found this review helpful. Sharp Aquos LC-52D62U 52 Super ProductStrengths: Super clear picture and colors. Easy remote to use. Weakness: NONE Don't know why anybody would think a Sony was better or the extra cost was worth it. HDTV programming and DVD playback is superb.Great pricing. I'm still using and exterior antenna and the digital stations are coming in fine. 72% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Sharp LC-52D62UStrengths: Excellent color, sharp picture, easy to use menu system. Weakness: Banding!!! Got an excellent price on this TV. Bought it home and set it up. Looked good, actually stunning in HiDef. Second day recognized the dreaded "banding" issue. Tried to get used to it, wash it out with the backlighting and contrast settings, etc. No luck. Store delivered a second one, same thing. The way to see the banding is to freeze the TV picture when you are changing channels before the next channel appears, so that you are looking essentially at a blank screen. You will see the striping of light and dark areas. If you watch a lot of sports, like hockey or golf, where there is a constant color (i.e. white or green) as the backdrop, the banding is very noticable as the camera pans from left to right. As the review on CNET.Com said, once you see it, your eye is drawn to it and it becomes very distracting. Can not get used to it. The store I bought it from had a technician come out to look at it. He said nothing can be done, that's the way the TV is. Store would not discount the price. Back it goes. Shame, because otherwise the picture is phenominal. Next trying the Samsung LN-S5296D. Will post results. 69% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

disappointmentStrengths: big, great picture when it works Weakness: banding, clouding, inoperability We bought this TV in February. Intermittent problems with banding, freezing, clouding, and programming. We changed the cable box first, but that did not help. Once, it would not even turn off. We are returning this set tomorrow and are trying to decide what to purchase next. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Returned for the SonyStrengths: Price was good, and the styling was good as well. Weakness: Picture wasn't up to par with my smaller Sony in my Bedroom. High Def looked good but the Sony did a better job with DVD and Cable playback, plus the color performance was better all around. Make sure you do some good comparisons in the store, especially with the blacks, I saw more detail in the dark areas on the 52"XBR that I Eventually purchased. 43% of readers found this review helpful. Sharp LC-52D62U LCD TVStrengths: Price Weakness: Very poor colors. Appear washed out, even after multiple attempts at color managment. Comparing the colors to my other TV, a SONY XBR LCD TV, the SHARP is very poor. I wish I had spent the extra money on the 52" SONY XBR3 LCD TV. 39% of readers found this review helpful. Mar 12, 2007 I'm based in the UK and I just purchased one of these sets and it is AMAZING!!! No banding. No problems at all. Spent a long time comparing it in many showrooms, side by side with other makes/models, and it stood out a MILE as being the best. I can only assume that you had an early model as the colours and contrasts on mine are AWESOME! The only downside is that my wife says it FAR TOO BIG for our lounge! :-) I would recommend that anyone looking for a large screen LCD should buy one! Regards, Silko

Mar 21, 2007 The Sharp LCD had the clearest picture in the store. HD stations are super sharp. I don't know why anybody in there right mind would say a Sony was better or why they would pay more for a Sony. I guess that is why some people buy Lexus over Toyota.

First TimerStrengths: Great Pic! Wonderful, vivid colors..Even the cat loves it. Weakness: None...So far. I have been reading a lot about other peoples experience with this brand. I also looked at the sony...side by side did not like it (sony) The next best brand for your money would be the LG HDTV. But to compare screen & size the SHARP AQUOS 52 HDTV is a better Pic & decent Price. Getting the right hook up to get the complete use out of the T.V. was a little frustrating. This is our First LCD HDTV. I wish that the choice in colors varied. I woud have liked a matte silver finish vs. the black finish. But it is a very sleek and elegant TV. Our guests do not realize there is a TV in the room until I turn it on and they our shocked. We have had the TV for 5 weeks and love it. My one regret is that I should have upgraded to a 60" or 65". If you are serious and are ready to purchase compare you room size and remember the The Sharp is about 5 1/2 inches deep and look at a bigger screen. 0% of readers found this review helpful. GREAT PRICE AND A GREAT TVStrengths: everything Weakness: no computer input but HDMI conversion of DVI does the job just fine Bought this at Best buy several months ago on a lemon exchange which was a Westinghouse. No bars, no streaks, no runs, no errors, just a great picture and a quality product. Hooked it up with a HDMI/DVI conversion cable and did a full 1080P computer picture without a hitch. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Best TV I've ever seenStrengths: Great screen Beautiful mounting great resolution Weakness: can't use as center speaker not enough inputs I am still bowled over by how this looks, both turned on and turned off. It's just fantasic. The color, picure, etc. are great. None of the infamous "banding" people have goten worked up about. Don't know how good the sound is, particularly, since all my sounds goes out via the home theater system. I wish it had a third HDMI input or an RGB computer input, though. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Aquos means quality.Strengths: This tv is a fantastic performer and it's 'future safe'! Weakness: Factory setting a bit out of whack. Picture looks slightly different when you watch from an angle. I was looking at many different TV's before deciding on this one. I upgraded from a Sony LCD projection TV that was a few years old and the Sharp has a much better picture, especially as far as contrast and black levels. The blacks looked dark-grey on the Sony (the newer models look much better though) and this was the major reason for the upgrade. Black levels on the Sharp are excellent and it shows much more detail than my older TV. The picture is very, very good on this panel with much more detail than what you actually can see from a normal viewing distance. Color reproduction is fantastic and the brightness can be set to very high levels so you can still watch, even in a very bright room. The Sharp has a feature that adjusts the brightness level on the TV per the brightness in the room. This way the Sharp will show a darker picture at night rather than during the day, this is a very handy feature. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

A good piece of equipmentStrengths: Good clear picture, deep natural black, vivid sound and easy of operation Weakness: not enough in and outs The bottom line- this TV set worth each dollar I am sure that nobody will regret for that purchase. The lack of more in and outs will be a serious problem if you don't have AV receiver but actually there are enough connectors for the basic user. Once again don't hesitate. Should remain top-of-the-line for at least a few...Strengths: Picture Weakness: Casing I started with a 42" Aquos (780p?) last year, and now have this one for another room this year. It's pretty amazing how the pictures have at the same time that prices have dropped. For the quality + price ratio this TV provides, I'm not sure how much better it can get. Be sure to get a 1080p DVD player (I got the Oppo) to take full advantage (note that you need to configure settings on the DVD player to bump it up to 1080p upscaling!). My only complaint is that I am not at all a fan of the "piano black" casing. Shiny black plastic does not at all fit my decor. I really wish this came in a matte silver (or at least a matte black). And kudos to BuyDig.com. They exceeded whatever expectations I had. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Sharp 52
Strengths: I like the bright screen. The picture on a high def channel is incredible. Digital channels are fair. A dvd at 480p was impressive.
Weakness: If you are standing less than 6 feet from the screen on a non high def channel sometimes the picture is made up of blocks. Since we replaced our cable high def box this has improved signifigantly.
This is an update to my initial review of this TV. I have since had the cable provider out and they have improved the issue of the noticeable blocks in the picture by replacing a faulty cable high def box. If you get close you can still see the blocks but it is much better now. We watch this screen from about 13 ft and the blocks that are noticeable from up close are not noticeable from that distance. The high def channels are impeccable and the digital channels are as good as you can hope for. This LCD is built for the future when 1080p is the standard. I could not see buying anything now that does not accept native 1080p and this is one of the first large screen lcd's that meets that standard. I am looking forward to affordable hd-dvd players and the movies in the hd-dvd format. It should be a real treat on this TV.

Hi, I am so torn on this tv thing i have been back and forth for weeks now i cant make a decision between the 46 xbr3 sony or sharp 52 inch only b/c its cheaper for 6 inches bigger but think sony has a slight better picture ! and also deciding if i need a 52 or would 46 suffice the as you i am also about 12 ft away from tv and guy at best buy said i should not go more than 46 ! DO YOU THINK THATS WHY YOU SEE BLOCKS B/C YOU ARE TOO CLOSE ??

I was at Circuit City today comparing the Sony XBR and Sharp Aquos. Circuit City had these two tv's side by side in the store. They were showing American Chopper on HDTV feed. The Aquos black level was much better. The Sony had a very noticeable gray shade. I asked the sales person to adjust the Sony and he could only do so much to get the picture to produce light black levels. During part of the show, they had the metal cutting oil running and that fast motion at 1 (one) foot away did seems choppy (excuse the pun). However, at about 15 feet (my expected viewing distance) the running oil and fast moving drill bit looked great. I am leaning toward the Aquos based on bang for the buck. Ideally, I would have a Pioneer Pro Plasma 1080p...but that is out of my price range.
Mar 10, 2007
Curious as to why you are selling such a great TV. I want one but I was told by a salesman at Circuit City that they were not making the LCD larger than 46. I prefer the LCD over the plasma but I want at least a 50 inch screen. I am undecided, not sure if I should buy the LCD with a screen greater than 46.
