Wouldn't work on thin hairStrengths: Easy to change trim depth Weakness: Doesn't cut hair easily. Hard to clean. Works ok on beards but not on regular hair. I've had this trimmer for one month and you have to invest a lot of time in order to use it since its blades are too short and plastic adjustable part is too flexible. I wouldn't buy it again. Compared to other trimmers I've had this appliance is completely unsatisfactory. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

A bulky beard trimmer--But works fine for the price!Strengths: Low price, simple to use, seems sturdy. Weakness: Somewhat heavy and "clunky" to use. This beard and hair trimmer is a good value for the price. The best things about this trimmer are that it is cordless, there are lots of settings for the beard length, there is a mini trimmer for detail work, it is quiet, and charge seems to last a long time. The negatives are that the blades don't seem real sharp, you can only adjust the settings when it is off, and there is more maintenance required than other trimmers (supposed to oil blades after every use?). Takes a while to get used to--it seems a bit bigger and clunkier than what I'm used to. But it is fairly cheap and does the job ok once you get used to the feel of it. A Quality Product
Strengths: Solid construction, relatively quiet, NiMH battery with no memory effect, can be rinsed with water, trims well
Weakness: Must turn off to change the cutting length
I really liked the way my previous Norelco AccuControl Beard Trimmer cut my beard, but had major problems with the cord not maintaining electrical contact, and the NiCad battery eventually would not take a charge.
In contrast, this Panasonic ER224S has a memory-free NiMH battery and charges by sitting on a wall charging block (there is no cord). BTW, the slim manual says NOT to leave the trimmer on the charger for more than 48 hours at a time and states that "If the battery is charged 3 times a month, the service life will be approximately 6 years."
When turned on, the trimmer makes a low, solid hum - much quieter than many trimmers. Although it would be nice to be able to change the comb height (trim length) while the unit is on, I do not find that having to turn it off to make the changes is a big problem. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase so far.
