Powerful little microwaveStrengths: Powerful, not too big, numerous convenient one touch buttons Weakness: Child Lock does not lock microwave door, you have to be careful which buttons you push sometimes I have used my new microwave at least 30 times since I got it 2 weeks ago. Its a great microwave, and is very powerful. It heats quick, and the instruction manual is very education on how to microwave different foods, some things I didn't know. My only qualms are that it takes some time to get used to. If you don't hit Time Cook before hitting a number like 2 or 3, it will automatically start at 2 or 3 minutes, so I end up having to stop it, and start over. My other thing is the child lock. Yes, it DOES lock the buttons so a child cannot work the microwave, but it does NOT actually lock the microwave door itself. So busy little hands can still hit the button, and open the door. And when the door is opened, it swings open fast. So be careful, and try to put it as far back as you can on the counter. 100% of readers found this review helpful. GE MicrowaveStrengths: Heats quickly Weakness: None I really shopped around for a microwave that suited my needs. This one is perfect. It is a bit smaller than similar models and is very sleek looking - you hardly notice it on the counter. It heats the food VERY quickly. I like the fact that if you push a number (i.e. number two) it automatically heats for that number of minutes. If you want less time (i.e. 30 seconds) you need to push an additional button (cook time)and then the amount of time you wish to use. Some people will not like this feature - so keep it in mind before you buy this particular microwave. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Piece of junkStrengths: Compact Weakness: Only worked for 30 days We purchased this microwave about a month ago for basic uses such as heating water, canned soup & instant oatmeal. It doesn't take up a ton of counter space, but that's the only good thing I can say for this piece of junk. We purchased it brand new from a retailer and it stopped heating after about 30 days of use. It would still turn on and run, however, my water, oatmeal, soup etc. was still cold when it was done. I'm trying to research online what could be wrong with it and came across this website. Felt it my duty to warn others not to buy this piece of JUNK!!! Spend the $$$, get something that's made better. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Noisy, works well for duration of service, which is...
Strengths: Compact, works well for basic microwave duties.
Weakness: Noisy, lasts one year, GE services feels very bad for your dilemma, and will help you arrange for service repairs exceeding the cost of the unit
I used this unit as I believe most of us might-for reheating leftovers, heating water for tea or coffee, frozen food, and rarely, for defrosting (it works rather unevenly on many larger frozen "parcels", as do most inexpensive microwave units), The unit is louder than any microwave I've used, so much so that I was kind of alarmed the first time I used it.
After about a year of what, honestly was average use, the unit would stop after about three seconds of operation at any time interval and yield a "PF" (standing for "power failure", apparently, from what I've read on the net) and then display a blank screen; entrys could be made again for time, etc., but subsequent operation for heating yielded the same "PF" message and then a blank screen, as previously described. No more heating, kaput. Calls to GE after gleaning out the "complaints" number or whatever euphemism it is that they call it ended with the representatives expressions of sympathy and (the only option other than "your totally out of luck for any other form of satisfaction or restitution" was for them to arrange for a service call and repair the costs for which, needless to say, would have exceeded the original price of the microwave; I opted for the retention of this now overlarge paperweight, for the purpose of disposal. To be fair, I've read on the net that many less expensive microwaves sold recently do not last long; most of us have experiences of older less sophisticated perhaps, units which lasted for a decade or more.
