Terk SIR6 Outdoor Sirius Satellite Antenna

Strengths: Greatly improved signal; Easy to Install; Good size

This antenna is a great improvement over the home kit antenna. My signal went from about a 1 with the home kit antenna to a 3 with this antenna. It was easy enough to install and the cord was long enough to reach where I needed without getting an extension.

TERK SIR6 SIRIUS OUTDOOR ANTENNA- MUST CONSIDER

Strengths: Easy to mount (with multiple options), durable, looks good.

Weakness: The 30-ft cable was barely long enough for me. Measure what you will need in advance so you can have an extension cable on hand if necessary.

If you plan to use your Sirius receiver indoors, then you will need convenient access to a window that points in the correct direction of the satellite OR you will need an aftermarket outdoor antenna. This is a definite consideration if you need the latter. Wiring may not be easy, however, depending on your situation. The heavy duty cable is too thick for most window applications, so you will probably need to find a way to go through a floor or wall. I followed the existing cable TV routing for simplicity. Once you work out the wiring, you'll have a unit that performs well.

Terk SIR6 Outdoor Satellite Radio Home Antenna

Nice looking, small and neat looking. It gets great reception, 30 foot cord was long enough. Arrived very quickly exactly as promised. Installation was very easy and simple. Seems to be a solid piece of equipment. The length of the arm could be a little longer to get over the overhang of our home. We would have liked to attach it to a pole but were afraid it wouldn't get good reception under the overhang.

Great Sirius antenna

Strengths: can use outside or inside, easy to move and position, lengthy antenna cable

Weakness: singal may still drop, but only for a few seconds at most

Although it is meant to be used outside, I use my antenna inside.

I had trouble picking up a signal with the antenna that came with my Starmate Replay. I aimed it out the window but still had many dropouts and problems. I use the Starmate in my house since I work at home. I ended up putting the antenna next to a curtain rod, screwed it in, and simply aimed it at the ceiling. Some how, it picks up a signal, usually at 100% strength. Not sure about the scientific reasons, but the signal is strong enough to come through the room/ceiling. However, if I put it anywhere else in the room, it would not work as good.

It may not look great but I could care less since I'm the only one in my office and its a complete mess anyway. I'm glad I get a steady good signal with uninterruped service now.
