Pocket DV4500

Strengths: Inexpensive, portability and ease of use.

Weakness: Video quality drops under low light conditions. Goes through batteries extremely fast. USB port at front, difficult to use as web cam. Tripot broke out of the box.

Bought this for $32 at Target clearance. For the price I got a great little entry level DV camera. The video is little grainy. Recording video and taking pictures is a one touch operation. Zoom function is in 0.2 step and it is not smooth during video mode. Video can be converted to AVI format with included Ulead Video7 software. I would recommend to buy this if the price is around $60. I have CVS one time use video camera and picture quality is better than this one. But in photo mode picture quality is good. Micro mode isn't good. SD card is under battery cover and cover hinge is not really strong. Specs said 512MB SD card but I can use 1GB card without any error.

Aiptek DV4500 Digital Camera

Strengths: It is very simple to use, I did not have to read any of the instructions. A lot of options: black and white or colored pictures, mp3 player, voice recorder, camera, video, timer for pictures. Simple

Weakness: It takes a while for the flash to re-charge, and video images indoors are not the best.

Overall a pretty good and simple camera. In my price range. This is my first digital camera/camcorder. Very light and small could easily fit into any purse or loose fitting pocket. Comes with a small nice carrying case. Also comes with a mini tri-pod! Also has small head phones to listen to the mp3's I would reccomend this digital camera/camcorder, to any first time user.

Aiptek DV4500 Digital Camera

Strengths: Love the portability and quality

Weakness: Not the highest of resolutions

This camera looks great and has a very nice weight to it, it takes great pics and is highly portable and great when on the go. The pics print nicely at this resolution. Highly recommended.

Aiptek DV4500 Digital Camera

Strengths: Small and cheap.

Weakness: Low resolution for some pictures.

I got this to replace my other Aiptek Pocket DV3100 which I do like a lot. The new one is a little bit heavier than the other one (about 0.4 lbs moore), however, there are more functions. It is cheap and small. The old one uses compact flash and not compatible with this new one. Therefore, I have to buy a new SD for moore memory which cost moore than the DV itself since I want a 512 MB SD. I also checked out the Mustek 4000. The Aiptek is a little cheaper. The Mustek have the rechargable battery but no flash. Do not expect a lot for these cameras. However, with the price and the size, it is nice to have it around.

Aiptek DV4500 Digital Camera

Strengths: DV 4500 does everything that more expense camcorders will. It is compact and easy to use.

Weakness: When using the flash feature for still pictures It resets the date and time back to default. Has to be set back to present date and time.

This is the third Aiptek product I have purchased and all are still working. There is a problem getting any help from Aiptek Tech They maybe will answer e mail after 3 or 4 attempts. Also, on the DV 4500 that I have when using the flash Feature it will reset the date and time back to default. This is something I am accepting even though it isn't correct.

Aiptek DV4500 Digital Camera

Strengths: Very easy to use, great user interface and picture review, reasonably fast shutter, minimal lag.. complete and ready to go out out-of-the box, great bday gift for 8 year old daughter

Weakness: Battery door seems a bit fragile, usb cover door is fragile (extra door was included in package)

Great camera for kids (much better than anything I've seen for around $100.. 2MP is fine for kids shooting pictures, actually is fine for up to 5 X 7. Good indoors for pictures or video with sufficient light. Great outdoors. Voice recorder is good as is the ease of use for all functions. Menu's were figured out by 8 year old without help or the manuals. I find the button orientation and controls very intuitive. About the size of the ipod mini. cassette tape size, two cassettes thick).

Best father/daughter birthday gift.. nice to have one device that plays mp3's and is her camera, video camera and voice recorder.

Aiptek DV4500 Digital Camera

Strengths: easy to use

Weakness: battery life low

very good for someone who sells stuff and needs to upload pix. the Mp3 player sounds decent. Alittle fuzzy. The camcorder is fun to use. Recommend the 512 SD memory.

Aiptek DV4500 Digital Camera

Strengths: moderate price, multi-funtions, 4-mega-pixel camera, compact

Weakness: drains batteries very fast...no ac adapter or car lighter input, so you have to use batteries. also, there is some background noise and distortion when listening to music

good for the price...you get what you pay for, i really like the multi-fuctionability, but it drains batteries very fast. camera and camcorder seem to work fine, installed the sofware without a problem, would recommend for the average perrson to use for fun, but not those who want professional results.

Aiptek DV4500 Digital Camera

Strengths: webcam

Weakness: Everything~ battery life, picture quality....

This camera is horrible is horrible. I got it for my birthday in January and didnt use it too much because I was waiting till the end of February to use it for a trip to NYC. You can only take literally 4 pictures with flash before the battery dies! The pictures come out bad. You might be thinking o well only 1 bad review but I have no clue what the other reviews are talking about this camera is horrible! DO NOT I repeat DO NOT buy it!!!!!!!

OK for its price

Strengths: Cheap, alot of functions, flash, LCD screen

Weakness: hard to focus, Eats up battery.

I have to admit it is ok for its price but I would spend alittle more to get a better camera if you plan on taking some serious pictures. Maybe this would work for a present for your little child to play with as his/her first camera.

Nice multiuse, not-serious camera

Strengths: I does everything - sort of.

Weakness: If you want good movies, use a camcorder. For good pictures, a camera. Pictures are fuzzy and video has color artifacts.

I love this gadget. It is fun and very useful, heaps above anything in the price range (got if for $70 at Target clearance, about $60 on Ebay March 2006). As a teacher, I bought it to take pictures of books and projects and show them to the class on a TV, which then I can erase, all in a few seconds. It worked fine for that.

Sadly, maybe for storing it too roughly, the shutter button caved in. Maybe it would still have been under warranty, but I decided to see-look (nice design of the box, easy to work in), and it turns out the actual switch inside had been pulled out of the board, which makes me wonder if the design there could have been better, since it is bound to take a lot of pressure over time - I bet there's heaps of these with that part broke.
I am confident I can fix it, however, and then I'll use the chance to set up a remote shutter!
I am getting myself another on Ebay. I want to connect both shutters together to take stereo pictures and movies.

I've had this camera for about a year and also had the same problem; the shutter button just gets pushed in and you can pull it out, but pressing it just puts it back in again. Despite having it for a year, I don't use it very much and keep it always hung up in the case, so the shutter button breaking doesn't make much sense.

After first getting it, after about a week, the shutter button did become harder to push, and I had to push the bottom of it. Other than this problem, it's been an O.K. camera, some of the images turn out nice, but the flash, zoom, and lighting, are hard to work with. I also was never able to get mp3 music on it, after having myself try it on four different computers, and having two other computer tech friends try it. The video is pretty good especially since this camera is so much cheaper that a camcorder. I've never bothered to use the webcam feature. I'd give this camera a slightly above O.K. rating.

Yampalos, I was wondering also if you ever fixed the shutter problem.

good little digicam

Strengths: compact size. Price.

Weakness: resolution. sound.

The picture quality is not bad with 2mp. Video quality is ok. This is a nice compact digicam for entry user. I think this is a good buy for less than $80. I can use 1gb SD card with this. MP3 function is a nice plus.
