Motion Shound Pro-3XStrengths: Basically, sounds great...see weaknesses Weakness: Unacceptable hum, buzz, click from SIMS output Read an almost identical review. SIMS Low Rotor output is way too noisy for me to even consider using on a live gig. I thought the 1st unit must be defective and sent it back. The replacement unit has exactly the same problems. SIMS output has terrible hum and a click and buzz that's sync'd with the rotor speed indicator light. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Almost a great buy
Strengths: Great rotary sound, lightweight, portable, rugged enclosure; good for live performance
Weakness: Excessive noise hum from low-rotor simulator output; not acceptable for studio recording
The Pro-3X has a great design and meets the need for a lightweight, portable, and great sounding rotary speaker. The enclosure appears to be rugged, and the controls are well thought out, although a MIDI control input would be a nice added touch. However, the first unit I purchased exhibited an excessive amount of hum from the low-rotor simulator output, and was deemed to be defective by the manufacturer. This unit was returned for a replacement unit, which also exhibited an excessive amount of hum from the low-rotor simulator output. Motion Sound states that the peak-peak noise level of the low-rotor simulator output should not exceed 200 microvolts, but the actual measured noise output was in excess of 8 millivolts peak-peak. This amount of noise is probably not a problem in a live performance situation, but is not acceptable for studio recording. After returning the second unit, I decided not to pursue this product any further until the manufacturer addresses this quality issue.
