MATROX TRIPLEHEAD2GO FOR REAL FLIGHT G3.5 &...
Strengths: Easy to hook up, Great customer suport, Great software
Weakness: None
The benefits of multi monitors are immense and very practical. I was a dual monitor user for some time as the cost of good flat panel monitors come down it seems it’s time to get another one. However my GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) card only supported two monitors but my mother board only supported one GPU card so now I had a dilemma. So after doing a search for multi monitors I found the Matrox TripleHead2Go system and all I can say is wow! It’s a very small box that makes your GPU think that it’s a monitor but it in fact splits the signal. But that’s not all it does it will change the three 19” monitors into one full 2400x 600 wide screen video display way cool for gaming. I thought it would slow down the frame rate making the simulator little more than a slide show lol. That could not be further from the truth it’s smooth as silk. Of course not all games are supported by this high resolution but there is a list of dozens that do which Matrox provides. Matrox is also working with game and simulators software manufactures to increase the resolution to support this technology. I have found some things that are not even on the list like Real Flight and it works great on this system. Combined with the new Sound Blaster X-Fi 3-D sound card this is one simulation experience that is as close to the real thing as you can get! As you can see in the photos I can set up Real Flight in one large full screen or I can have each monitor provide a different view as in chase, inside the plane or from the flight line all at the same time. I even like the Matrox unit in Microsoft Flight Sim as you can look outside the plane's wondows on the right and left monitors without using the hat switch.
The new X-Fi 3-D sound card lets you hear the plane in a very real way. As it passes you in virtual reality the sound comes from the speaker nearest to your 5.1 surround sound in real time totally new technology.
